Have read somewhere else that TRA and ARTC might be opening somewhere in London so that tradies can apply and get their Licences before they get there.

Has anybody else heard this. Would be good if it is as Chris is a spark and needs a licence before he can work - and he sure is no getting off with it!!!

I too would like to get my licences before we do the BIG move, as I do not want to waste time once over there. I'd like to start work ASAP, more chance of buying a property, thus save on rental eating away at our equity...................

I am now in the process of getting my Australian Recognised Trade Certificate. (ARTC) They are sending over the application pack as I type. Will keep you all informed.

I thought you had to be there first.

So does that mean, once (if) (of course we will) get our visa we can contact the ARTC and get that started while we are arranging to go?

I was at first under the impression that you had to be IN Australia before you could apply for your ARTC. But after e few e-mails to various boddies, it seems this is not the case. I will keep you informed on how I get on...

The form they have sent me, is just like applying to the TRA (Trade Recognition Australia).
All that you did for your TRA, you have to do again for your ARTC (Australian Recognised Trade Certificate).
Only this time, ALL your documentation is studied by qualified tradepersons of the trade you are applying for. In my case, Air Conditioning "people" will look at my application.
