G'day all,
if your visas are approved and the main person on the visa application ie the applicant my husband cannot go till may does that mean we cant go before him and wait for him to arrive.
just it would be better to be there sorting stuff out for his arrival 6 weeks later than waiting in england until may does anyine know the answer

G'day Lesley.

Well, I'm fairly sure about this. When I first migrated to Aus my father was the main applicant and we were told that we should arrive with him or after him, but not before him. That was in '91. In 2004, second time around, this time as independants (that's just Gill and myself) I have a recollection of the same rule being mentioned again.

Did you use a migration agent? Perhaps ask them if you did, but I'm sure this is the rule. After all, if you have a family it would mean that any member of the family (i.e. kids) could just turn up ahead of time and I don't think Australia would be that keen to take the 'unskilled' before the 'skilled'.

I'm sure you're not the first to think of this 'opportunity'.

Paul.
