Morning all... Mike and Dawn here. Residents of the Glass House Mountains for the past 6 years (for those of you who may not know this area is approx 1/2 hour drive inland from the Sunshine Coast). Were a little 'out the loop' as we moved to Australia over 6 years ago and have only recently sold a B&B business. For that reason we havent really had much of an opportunity to make lots of friends and are always on the lookout! We have found it a little difficult breaking into people's friendship groups as many here in Austalia seem to be family based. I work in In Brisbane and get lots of invites to social events but nver fancy the drive! Anyway - were always on the lookout for new friends..... Mike - 46 Dawn 42. Two children 18 and 16 (hmmm there a conversation piece in itself!!!) Were into everything Australian - BBQs, Beach, Walking, Camping, Photography boating etc... Be great to catch up with some other forumn members for a glass of red and a yarn. Your place or ours! Regards Mike and Dawn. mhoctober@gmail.com |

G'day Mike. G'day Dawn. Nice of you to add some thoughts to the forum. Cheers. It would be nice if some of the members already here on the coast could get together some time. I know there's a meet being arranged for expats on Australia day and I'll run some details and blurb on that on the KK site for all to see next year. But if crowds isn't your thing, if you're both ever up in Montville next year, let me know. Montville's such a tourist magnet that inevitably everyone seems to make it at least once a year. Drop me a line - it would be good to chat. Paul (41 and a bit) and Gill (under 40). |

Hi Mike and Dawn, we are going to be settling on the sunny coast in June and would love to meet up sometime. I have tons of family on the sunny coast, but am looking to make friends aside from them. we have two lads aged 16 and 11 coming with us and we have another son who is nearly 20 who is staying in the UK. What school did/do your kids go to??? that is a consideration of ours at the moment. cheers cath |

All being well Cath we will be on the same flight. We are heading to the Sunshine Coast - if feasible would love to live near the mountains but trying to juggle school and job prospects. We are also trying to sell the house - loooooooonnnnnnng process. I am as impatient as my 11 year old son. He just cant wait to go and is fed up with ifs and buts and whens....hoping though to be catching that plane in June. We have a lovely 2 year old aswell who melts most people once he is warmed up properley. Keep posting - we are on a 136 visa Di (40 and staying that way) |

I'm too busy (honest) to work out when what time peeps are arriving. Can I ask everyone to put up a guide in this thread precisely when they're arriving. I keep hearing "June" - first week, second week.... It would be nice to have some definitive dates/times/airlines in one place. Don't ya think? Paul. |
