We was beaten! Fair and square. No kidding. We were quite interested in this place having discounted it the first time we saw it. Then we looked at what else there was and this first property seemed an ok buy compared to the rest. So we returned for a second viewing and was about to do the third and final when we got the email from the agent. We'd already started the initial mortgage research and had this guy around from Bankwest and enquired further about the house whilst our financials were being assessed. What happened is no reflection upon how quickly the bank moved. They're very fast, although we're still not wholly approved. We should have put in an offer 'subject to finance'. It's no big deal. Both of us work on the principle that it wasn't meant to be. So we're looking at a couple of properties next weekend that we haven't seen properly yet and although they're a little more pricey, you do get more for your buck. We'll see. So no celebrations (or worries) but all the time feeling more confident and with approval (when it arrives) we should have more bargaining power. I think that's how it works? Paul. |
