No doubt they'll be some that read this that haven't heard about the "worst weather event to hit Brisbane in 25 years". After destroying countless homes the winds, rain and hail left Brisbane and headed north through the Sunshine Coast. Fortunately it had lost much of its power by the time it reached us. From the deck we saw it coming and the lightning was loud and the winds strong, but nothing compared to that suffered by those poor people earlier. Many lost their roofs, some their walls too. Trees tossed through the air, cars smashed, one person swept away by the strong water currents of falling rain. Really sad. Go to www.abc.net.au to follow up on the story if any readers want to know more. We lost power for a while. Some lost it for 3 days and right now the weather is just awful. I'm stuck in the clouds and the rain just wont go away. We have a 10,000 gallon water tank and it's been overflowing for two days now. Rain isn't expected to stop for another two days and today a storm in forecast for inland s.e. Queensland and tomorrow's forecast has predicted a storm for the coastal regions. Dave (Aircon), don't know if you're likely to read this before the weekend, but what news from the Gold Coast region? Paul |
