Thought of another web site name. Wouldn't work here, but I could imagine a few places were it would be appropriate. www.pissedoffpoms.com

Ooh you are awful, but I like you!! (as said by Dick Emery!, yes I can remember him ;) ) Could link that to a few different forum sites just lately.

I've met Dick Emery. Face to face. I was about 13 or 14 and riding my bike. My younger brothers were with me, in our local village. At the end of a village lane I spotted him.

It wasn't too hard. He was surrounded by a cameraman, make-up artist, mike bloke, script guy... you get the picture? Very odd to see filming of this nature going on in our village. Mysterious...

Anyway, me being me, walked right up to him and asked him if he was Dick Emery and could I have his autograph. Stupid thing to do, perhaps, but I had to be sure it was him. :$

I thought he'd have seen the funny side, but he was munching on a bag of chips at the time and was less inclined to sign my skinny arm than finish his greasy lunch. "Don't you know it's rude to interrupt people whilst they're having lunch" he replied. The voice gave him away, if not the looks, but he didn't answer my question! I was numbed from that moment forward. This was my introduction to British comedy, first hand, face to face with someone who rattled around in the old HMV tv and who I admired a lot - because he made me laugh. I was expecting a better line than that. Anyway, he went on to say that he'd be happy to sign (my arm) if I returned in about an hour.

Tempted as I was to gather all of the village idiots together and surprise him, it never happened. When I returned he had gone. Mysterious... but very true...
