Those are great, even more so since the pictures were drawn by someone and I must say look very nice! The poems and such are original as well and you have a unique style that is your own. Excellent work! The first one of the list is my favorite because it reminds me of an old photograph and it's great how you have one character 'colored' while the others blend more with the background. It's beautiful. |

Here here... BRAVO; I agree with MrsP whole-heartedly!!! Your friends are either "crazy", stupid, unworthy to judge FINE ART, or jealous of you HUGE talent, Delwyn!!! I applaud your work... I should know; I am a talented "artist" myself, know MANY professional (and students working towards that goal) artists that have NOTHING "over you" in the artisticly talented department!!! :x love struck
big grin May I "call upon you" to "illustrate" some of MY works, for me - someday?!!! I am a writer that needs a talented Illustrator; when I compile some stories of mine... some are "original work" and some are "fan fiction", but all are needing a Graphic Artist of YOUR talent, please?!!! The Doc

Gee...Doc....I NEVER studied art in the whole of my life, coz my family think being an artist is quite stupid. Yeah...I don't get any support from my family :) I just try by myself step by step and I really want to help you to make illustrations for your stories :x love struck I'd love to!!! Just send me some scene or the part of the story that you want me to draw it....I'll do it as soon as possible but I can't promise you to finish it fast. I have a stupid job to do  |

Hey, no rush - we all have "the real world" to deal with; I understand completely!!!
;) winking
big grin Yeah; "artists" aren't usually "supported" by their families - it's so hard to make a decent living at it... but a true artist does it for the LOVE of the art, not the money, right?!!! :x love struck I have a story for you - a TRUE story! My Grandfather was - as a child - a very "talented" (as you are, and almost everyone in my family is; must be the genes) artist. Everyone told him, "You can't 'make it' as an artist; get a real career and job." so he believed them and studied hard in school (sciences, not the arts) and this was around 1890-something. He decided he wanted to be a Mechanical Engineer, and got his degree in that field, but when he got it, he decided he really wanted to be an Electrical Engineer; so he went back to the long years of college, and acquired that degree too! Then he decided he didn't want to do either one (exclusively) so he went BACK to get an Archetectural Engineering degree!!! He was (in 1920's to the early 1930's) a triple graduate of Engineering, and the premiere Archetect in Washington D.C. - built ALL of what is now the "ghetto", but back then they were brand new and the housing for Senators, and Government officials of HIGH means and influence - he and my Grandmother dined with Presidents and diplomats, and my grandmothers father became a superior court Judge in D.C. too - so she knew J. Edgar Hoover personally, and my grandfather also did repair-work on the Capital Dome and other landmarks... for he was the BEST there was, then!!! Long story short; the Great Depression hit, and nobody was "building" anymore; so to feed and such his family, he fell back onto his first and probably his greatest talent... ART!!! You see, he did his own "rederings" (a scketch/drawing of what a building will look like after the designer/archetect conceives it) and could even "etch" lithographic plates SO well that you'd think it was a photograph... all with NO formal training! So to prvide during the Greatest economic crisis to ever hit this country (U.S.A.) he did a "scene" of Washington D.C. for the weekly Sunday edition of the Washington Post - a FULL PAGE drawing each week (he also etched the lithographic plates that the newspaper used to print the pictures) of a different "scene" of Washington D.C. at different times - and this is how he made money when NO body could find "regular work" during those desperate times!!! The White House, the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, the Treasury Building, The Park, etc... he drew beautiful pictures and etched the lithographic plates SO well, that it was hard to tell it wasn't a photograph!!! The last thing he did was in the dead of winter; a scene of the Capital Building (and the Dome) through the Cherry Trees that were a gift from China, and are throughout the city! It was COLD and rainy (he had to sketch the initial drawing with grease-pencil on a plastic sheet, it was so wet) but when he finished the drawing and etched the lithographic plate for the Washington Post newspaper, he drew-in leaves and the cherry blossoms, as if it were FULL Spring-time!!! That was the LAST thing he did - he caught neumonia (in those days that was lethal - no anti-biotics, like penicilin, had been invented yet) and died shortly after sending the lithographic plate to the newspaper printing plant! So what's the point of this story (that is absolutely TRUE, he was my grandfather) then? Simple; he was a GENIUS at art, but nobody encouraged him and his natural talent (like yours) wasn't nurtured and he wasn't "trained" but he was so gifted that he didn't need the schooling! He got a "regular job" after MANY long years in college and THREE Engineering degrees; but when things got tough (for everyone) he had his ART to carry him through!!! Now I'm not recommending you abandon ALL "practical studies" and a career that will be more "plausible" and attainable, but don't forget your ART and true love, too! Choose a field where your ART may be the necessary thing to help the "practical career"; such as Graphic Designing, Archetecture, Fashion Design (that one isn't very practical, though), Drafting Engineer, etc... all fields that require a certain amount of "talent" with art, see?!!! You can "have your cake, and eat it too" with a practical career that allows you to use your artistic talents also; and at the very LEAST - you'll be able to do your art as a "hobby" and still have your "passion" for what you love most, alright? While you're studying for those "more practical" degrees, also take some ART classes too, see?!!! ;) winking big grin :x love struck I'll definately be getting some need in the not too distant future for an Illustrator, and Story-board Artist, and Graphics specialist and CGI (Computer Generated Images) needed for film and television and BOOK writing to - so keep your dreams alive, and don't forget them; and I'll get something going here, pretty soon - you can read them, and then come up with appropriate Illustrations, and I'll give you FULL credits for anything you do, okay?!!! The Doc
