I have a reproduction German zeltbahn kit. The wooden poles and aluminum pegs are from Historic Reproductions. The tent pole bag is from Schipperfabrik. As far as I know, these vendors are the only sources for these reproduction WWI German items. The wooden poles are too long for the tent pole bag. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this a common problem? |

I have poles and bags, original and various repros, and I have run into the problem you describe. However, I do not remember what combination(s) I had success with. I am not sure I have HR poles, so I can't say on that specifically. I will go home tonight, take a look at what I have, take some quick measurements, and let you know what I find. It might be interesting to compare repro lengths to original lengths. What are the lengths of the poles and bag you have? Randall |

Okay, here's what I found. My original bag is 14.75" long, and my original poles are 14.5" long. I have two repro GWM bags that are 15" long. I have repro poles from GWM that are spot on the originals at 14.5". I have 2 sets of repro poles made by a friend that are 15.5"... I have a set of poles of unknown origin, unmarked, I do not believe they are original WWI, but may be WWII or post war, they are all 14.5". And, I have several sets of poles that are probably Swiss or some other European surplus that range in length wildly. And, to address your question at least a little, my repro Schipper bag is only 14.25" long. So, none of my repro poles or original poles will fit in the Schipper bag. Randall |

Thanks for the reply/information. My repro poles are also 14.5" long, which seems to be the correct length (based on your originals). So, the repro bag is just too short! At least the bag can be used for the aluminum pegs. |
