For those of you who haven't heard, Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe is making a movie called My Boy Jack. The movie is about Jack Kipling, son of Rudyard Kipling. Jack was an officer in the Irish Guards and became missing in action.

It should be interesting. I am excited that they are making a WWI movie and it is about someone in the Guards!

Looks like a TV movie. I wonder if we'll be able to see it on TV in the US?

He is an excellent actor...damn well said! I suppose he just reminded me of Teddy for a moment...I certainly bet he could suffice as a shoe-in for any Teddy part as well! God save the Queen!

I read that PBS bought the rights to Air the movie on their "master piece theater". So it will air in the US, just not sure when.

It's also available at Amazon, for $20 normally, $12 on sale. I just put in my order, now I only hope it can catch up to my ship before I get off in December....

:army: I got the DVD. It's a good flick. I thought that the acting was pretty decent and the all too few trench scenes were well done. (Of course, in real life he didn't last very long once he got to the front). I'm going to watch it again soon. I felt like they captured Kipling pretty well in his dealings with the military bureaucracy, and the guy playing King George was superb. Daniel Radcliffe gave a good impression of the younger Kipling - and the training scenes, especially where he was working hard to master marksmanship with spectacles, were flat out neat. The material culture seemed to capture the "feel" of the time - with the abominable womens' clothing and hairstyles, hideous late Victorian furniture, and so on. Bring on the "Roaring 20s" on that score!

I watched it via netflix as well. I really liked the movie. I thought all the actors did a amazing job. I agree with the previous sentiments, I wish there had been more trench scenes.
