Fist of the North Star
|
I will dedicate this post to why reviewers are retards, whenever a good example comes up. Example 1: Hubs. Super Mario Galaxy has a single, extremely boring hub world of extreme boringness. Nobody called this out. Sonic has multiple, interesting hub worlds that evolve and let you interact with them, and reviewers tear into this like it's the worst thing ever. Uh...? Example 2: Tokens. Sun and Moon medals, ooo, so terrible. You need to collect such-and-such amount to get to the next level. Okay... and the bad part of this is where? They're all over the goddamn place, and if you can't be arsed to find enough then that's your own damn fault. It's like complaining that Galaxy requires you to get too many stars to open the final level. In a word, retarded. Example 3: Werehog. Number one, yes, we know "were" means "man" and thus technically it means "manhog". Understand that nobody gives a shit and if you do you're an idiot. Number two, kindly PLAY as the werehog before you bash it, it's ACTUALLY fun. Don't give me this "waaah it doesn't belong in a Sonic game" until you can define for me what a "Sonic game" is. And if you cite Sonics 1-3, your opinion is automatically invalidated. |

1. Super Mario Galaxy didn't require you to do random bullshit in the hub to get to the gameplay. Unleashed REQUIRES you to do boring shit. Hell, Gauntlet Dark Legacy's hub only gives you a long walk from, say, dream world to mountain, and I get bored doing that. Requiring you run around and talk to people is BORING. No matter how incredibly super-creative the hubs are. 2. The objective through the entire game is known, in Mario. You must collect stars as part of the storyline. In Unleashed, those medals could be just as easily confused for something, gee... Optional? Though I don't know, do they reappear when you repeat levels? If not, I won't even bother. Again, my third example being Gauntlet Dark Legacy, you have to collect crystals to move on to the next world. The game makes it pretty damn known that you have to, and you can repeat levels to respawn the crystals. 3. So if we call the original Sonic games what sonic was meant to be, we're idiots? Good fucking argument. |

The sun and Moon medals are so retardedly easy to collect that complaining about them in like complaining about collecting stars in Mario games. In the day stages, they're pretty much right in your goddamn face, and in the night stages, you could actually do a little bit of searching and find more. I mean really, if you cannot find the required amount, you're quite simply an idiot. Your other "arguments" do not warrant answers. |

HAHA, NECROBUMP. With the migration of the incredibly vocal trolls to the Sonic and the Black Knight board, one can actually look at the Sonic Unleashed board and see... praise. People talking about how much they ENJOY the game. There's hope for this fanbase yet. Also, the new Chun-nan Adventure Pack DLC fixed a few glitches (Quiz Lady, game freezing when you feed Chip). Yay Sega! |

Need I search out and quote all of the posts where you said Yahtzee was awesome? Stop changing your mind and settle on something for once. Edit: Also, of course the fans of the game are gonna stick to that game's board. |

Congratulations. You have discovered a message board with people. It's amazing, I know. I'm just saying, you can like the game. I didn't. Yahtzee didn't. A lot of people didn't. Hell, even Proton Jon didn't. People like it, people hate it. Why can't people just accept other peoples' opinions anymore? And don't you dare point out any earlier posts by me. I'm not trying to pass anything off as fact anymore. You like it, you like it. That's all that needs to be said. |

People have opinions, but the only reason I can really see for not liking Unleashed is simply not liking the genre. |

The main reason I don't like it is because they basically turned it into a hybrid of a time trial racing game and God of War. |

WRONG GOOD SIR. It'd only be a hybrid if the speeding and fighting were the same part of the game. No, you have very clearly defined Sonic-style segments and beat-em-up segments. The speed and fighting are kept separate. And why the fuck does everyone compare it to God of War, GoW isn't the only fucking beat 'em up in existence. If they're trying to compare the stretchy arms to the chainswords they're just stupid. And if you're trying to compare combos, then it's not a rip-off, it's an homage. Did people forget what those are? |

I just compare it to God of War because DMC's fighting seems much too deep to be compared to Unleashed. And I'm not really familiar with any other 3d beat-em-ups. Also, I call Unleashed a combination of the above because, pretty much, it is. The speed levels are pretty much races against time, since there's really nothing else to stop you. Aside from memorization of the level design so you don't go careening into spikes. And the night levels seem to be based around smashing things most of the time, so... Seems pretty straightforward to me. I just don't like the game. Why are we arguing about it? |

Because you seem to dislike the game merely because you do not like the genre. >_> |

I like beat-em-ups. They're pretty fun to play. I just don't like games that are essentially time trial racing games you can die in. <_< |

So yeah, we have the Chun-nan Adventure Pack, the Spagonia Adventure Pack, and the Holoska Adventure Pack. All three packs give four Sonic levels (I think) and two Werehog levels. The general run is 2 "hard mode" versions of Sonic's levels, with more spikes and meaner obstacles and fewer rings, and then two completely new levels. One of them is usually a lap run, where you run around the same course with progressively harder obstacles. The other is something awesome and unexpected. And the two Werehog levels are something wholesale awesomeness that are completely new. I wonder how they could possibly have an Eggmanland Adventure Pack... I mean, Eggmanland, HARDER?! |

I'm amazed there was an argument in here...6 years ago? 6 and a half? Jeez that's a long time in the past. Anyways, that's not the point of this post. The point of this post is that I had Sonic Unleashed for the longest time. Recently, I decided to play through some games I've never completed before. Sonic Unleashed was one of them (got around 30~% in before dropping it) and so I set forth on completing it. Long story short, good lord did this game suck. Day levels were okay but not all that great, night levels were tedious and not fun. Having to go back and collect medals if you didn't have enough to enter the next level was annoying. QTEs were dumb and unnecessary. Controls were frustrating at times. Like, it's better than Sonic 06, but it's still not a very good game. Like a 6/10 or so. I'm not going to bother playing it ever again. It just isn't worth it. Although, to bring a bit of positivity into this post, I also took the opportunity and played/completed Sonic Colors right after playing Unleashed. Colors was actually really great and really fun, so that made things better. And no, I don't care that it's only me and Ultramind and sometimes M4S still left here. I feel like posting this anyways. >_> |
