I'd have to agree with a lot of things rob said; the gameplay looks silly, enemies seem to be nothing, and it is will probably be another roller coast ride like Sonic Advance 2. It basically seems like alternating between far too much tension, simplified SRA sections; sucky Sonic Heroes Rail Canyon-like rail sections; and bad camera Sonic06 mach speed sections. |

No, really, Storm, I QUITE LITERALLY did that. With several levels, for that matter. And dalaw, what are these bad camera Sonic06 sections you speak of? I didn't see anything like that in the trailer. And Rob, I direct you to Sonic Rush, where the speed burst would kill enemies. This is essentially the same thing. Anyway, they haven't even shown the Werehog yet. |

Whoa whoa whoa, time out, hold the phone. Where'd this come from? I asked where he saw the bad camera at. I didn't ask where he saw them in Sonic06. You people need to learn to read properly. Though to be perfectly honest I've never had camera problems in a Sonic game. Doesn't stop the speed sections from needing work, especially Crisis fucking City. Even I can tell you that 06 had problems. But I can form my opinions from having played the game, as opposed to whining about something I've never even seen a video of like some people. Not any of you, just some people. (I find it incredibly redundant that I actually have to spell that last part out to you guys. Don't assume I'm talking about you unless I specifically name you.) Also, no, the speed boost from Rush isn't on all the time. Neither is it in Unleashed, or did you forget the ring energy bar? As the video is a trailer, the makers can simply set themselves for infinite ring energy, and thus infinite boost. Most likely, it won't last THAT long in the actual game. It also looks to have something going for knocking enemies around, as shown when he's knocking the bots into those flying ones. ... ALSO. If you think this game will be a hold right to win... yeah. Once the game comes out, post a video of that. I look forward to laughing at you plowing into the right wall during 3D sections. |

About the camera, I'm talking about the 3D sections in the alleyway. The tilt on the camera, combined with the distortion from sonic's boost and the ammount of clutter from destryed enemies/pots, makes it very hard to see what is in front of you. Perhaps its just because of youtubes quality, making everything blur together. Also, camera problems don't come up to often in sonic games if you are playing them 'the right way'. However (SA2 is a big offender of this), if you try to go backwards, or do a jump at a weird angle, or anything other than going where you are supposed to go, the camera can really screw you over. Take this from someone who has done many Ring Attacks and had to do many complex backtracks to manipulate checkpoints. Casual gamers might not notice this, but as soon as you do any form of competition, be it times, rings, scores, bosses, you name it, it will start glaring you in the face. As for holding right to win, that is a problem in a lot of the gamegear games (Sonic Chaos comes to mind, I beat the first level with my eyes closed just by holding right). In addition, Sonic Advance 2 is the classic example of 'a roller coaster ride', in which you have to press very little buttons other than holding right to complete a level. Hot Crater 1, for instance, can be beaten by holding right, doing a jump at one point (you are stopped by a barricade so you have as long as you want to do this jump), and letting go of right for about a half of a second at another point. In fact, using an emulator, I played SAdva2 at x15 speed, and got all the way to the fourth zone. Whenever sega tries to make the games fast (SAdva2 is the fastest of the advance series), it tends to oversimplify the level design, making it plain not fun. In regards to the speed boost, at least in Rush/Rush Adventure you had to constantly perform tricks to keep the tension up. In the video he seems to be performing very little if any tricks. What you said about an infinite tension code may be true, but it doesn't seem likely that they would do that. |

Ah. Time doesn't advance during levels; you won't spontaneously change into WereSonic in the middle of the level. Rather, specific levels have specific times of day in which you play them, though I think time may pass during town stage interludes, thus you may be able to access older levels as WereSonic. There, feel better now? |

*Looks at last argument* Now hold a fucking second. First, people complain that all the enemies are preventing them from mindlessly blasting through the levels at maximum possible speed, completely ignoring everything. Now that you're given a speed burst that looks to be capable of lasting a good long time that additionally kills enemies, you feel the need to complain about that too? What the fuck? |

I complained about it in the 2D games. You can't look ahead, so they can pop right out and you can kiss your 200 rings goodbye. In the 3d games, they're easy enough to spot ahead of time, but Sonic Heroes just went overboard and had whole thirds and halves of levels where you HAD to fight. Now in this game, it seems the enemies are just scenery, more or less. They need to strike a balance. |

Except this game is mainly about speed, and has a large emphasis on a 2d perspective. Thus having the enemies actually be an obstacle to your insane speed only detracts from the game. At least in the eyes of most Sonic fans. |

Last post getting too crowded. ... lulzwtfux, mate. EDIT: Two additional things to add. 1. The Gametrailer video. You can see each individual hair of Eggman's mustache. That's fucking awesome. 2. Is it just me, or does WereSonic's color scheme remind you of a recent villain? EDIT2: Daytime levels: Sonic is not on rails and is fully capable of freeroam. At least in the 360/PS3 versions. Wii/PS2 is on rails. When you have him stand still, he does his leg stretches, and eventually lays down. Homing attack is mapped to the X button while in midair. Sonic accelerates very quickly, and at boost, obtains speeds exceeding 300 mph. Regardless, levels can last as long as 10 minutes, and are absolutely huge. Nighttime levels: Sonic the Werehog is confirmed name. Focuses on combat and platforming, though by holding the RB, he runs pretty fast, like a feral wolf. Those huge, stretchy arms make for some interesting combos, and make the platforming very forgiving; they have a VERY long range, allowing him to grab onto things from a rather large distance, so you can STILL zoom through his levels by getting creative. His Shield is used for Blocking, vitality is his health. Shield is restored via the energy gained from slain enemies, vitality via rings. Extra characters: Confirmed to show up in the storyline: Tails, Knuckles, Shadow. According to a magazine, they saw a bit of a scene with WereSonic and Amy, before a bunch of developers jumped in front of it. As for playable, they wouldn't say, though the interviewer said, "That's totally a yes!" Music: Daytime stages have upbeat, lighthearted music. You know, to reflect Sonic. Hence why I LIKE the theme, it fits the character. Nighttime stages have slightly darker, more ambient music, but avoid going into the emo level territory of music. On-line: Something featuring on-line is in the game. They wouldn't say, though. Emeralds and Super Sonic: The Emeralds are drained, so "That presents a problem". Pfft, yeah right. Teasing the gamers with Super Sonic in the intro, then not letting you play as him, would simply piss everyone off. Obviously he'll show up for the final battle, but they may have been speaking of gameplay terms. Like, in levels. PLEASE, MAKE IT HAPPEN. Additionally, the Emeralds will have to be taken to "temples" on each of the "continents" of the shattered planet, to fix it. We'll see how that plays out. Bosses: As seen in the trailer, there are bosses spanning all three gameplay types: Normal Sonic's 2D sections, along with his 3D sections, as well as Werehog. So we have plenty of ways to fight bosses. Eggman: Entirely too badass for words. I get the feeling that if the huge monster tries the same shit as the last few giant monsters, he'll just walk up to it, bitchslap it, and roar, "WE'LL BE HAVING NONE OF THAT SHIT." and it'll motherfucking listen because he's just that much of a badass now. |

No, the Wii and PS2 version are both on rails. I fail to see how both of you can dislike the werehog levels after almost EVERY SINGLE PERSON at GameFAQs has nothing but praise for it. Dare I say it, the Werehog levels look better than the daytime ones. As Lego said... Sonic has always been based on platforming accented by amazing speed, not retarded speed accented with a little platforming. While Werehog stages certainly LOOK slow if you play them the way you're supposed to, a little creativity with those stretchy arms and the slow goes kapoof. A little creativity that ANYONE WITH HALF A FUCKING BRAIN could come up with. I guess that counts Storm out of the running... Also Dalaw, long levels are fun, when they're not divided by huge gaps of loading screens, which won't happen here. Not like it matters when you die near the end anyway, owing to the fact that there's these wonderful things that have been in the series since the beginning called CHECKPOINTS POSTS. Dalaw edit: Don't feel like creating a new post, but have you realised that in every sonic game but SSR there are a LIMITED NUMBER OF LIVES? Game overs are extremely common when you "use a little creativity", like you said before. Checkpoints, while they help, don't solve the problem. Also when I was talking about long levels, I was referring more of to Herores than S06. Ultramind edit: Perhaps true. However, the multitude of deaths will be gone since you're mostly running on the same part of the road, mostly along a straightforward track, without all the hullabaloo of crappy death by bottomless pit ten million billion times. Anyway, have you SEEN the range Werehog's stretchy arms get? Those things could save you from THE BOTTOM OF THE GRAND CANYON. Like the guy said, his platforming is very forgiving. Ultraminds original post continued: Also this. >_> <_< ![]() 'Nother edit: Moar pictures. |

Quietly ignoring the retard... Take a look at the end-of-level victory jig. Also introducing Chip. Or Tip. Or whatever. Yes, this is the first time he was seen in the game, no big unveiling. He doesn't seem very important. Expanding on such... Chip/Tip has no bearing on the gameplay, at least none that has been seen. He might have some little use as a later upgrade or something, maybe to snag rings, I dunno, but thus far he seems to have no bearing on gameplay. Thus if you're the kind that just wants to ignore the story in Sonic games, you can pretend he doesn't even exist. Except for that little bit at the end of the level, whatever... |
