SPOILERS, KER-DUH I just beat Mission 10, and here's what I have to say about the game so far: -The music is... not good. They could do worse, but it's just boring and unremarkable. Most of them sound the same. It's easy to tell the difference between Andy and Adder's theme, two very different people. It's not easy to tell the difference between Will and The Beast's theme, two equally different people. -On the plus side, the themes have actual names now. Instead of "Will's Theme", we have "We Will Prevail - Will". This is a rather superfluous fact, but I just wanted to point that out. -The graphics are better. I like the graphics. -Oh sorry, I meant the CO sprites. My bad. The battle scene sprites are okay, too. But IS really screwed around with the terrain. Note how it says "around with" and not "up". There's more decorative tiles. Like, two tiles could look slightly different but represent the same terrain type. It's good because it breaks the monotony of a stretch of plains, but it's bad because it gets lost within the torrent of a thousand new terrain types. -Oh by the way, there's a thousand new terrain types. We got wasteland, ruins, fire, mist... the list goes on. -Isabella should've kept the name Cattleya. -Speaking of Isabella, I bet she's one of Caulder's daughters. I mean, judging from solely hair color. Also, why the hell does Caulder have so many children? -There's a lot less COs. This is both a good thing and a bad thing. It's good because it allows for more character development, but it's bad because there's less variety in battle. -Penny seems to have replaced Lash. Crazy, young, destructive. She even has her laugh. But Penny's theme is worse than Lash's theme >_> -WHY NO GREEN EARTH? What the hell is up with that? You just couldn't come up with ideas for two more COs? Was it a Friday afternoon and you just wanted to drink beer instead of scraping up a name for the green country? Or perhaps Green Earth just wasn't primary enough for you guys? -WHY NO WAR ROOM? Some people don't want to get Wi-Fi, ya know! -WHY NO SPANN ISLAND? I mean... come on! It's freaking Spann Island! It better show up in the Trial battles, but considering how easy Spann Island is and how far I am into the game, it's quite unlikely. -The Design Map function is better. But I'm not a cartographer, so. -The grading system (at the end of a mission) is a little funky. -Return of the CO colors! With... only four colors each. Someone tell me what the point of this is, again? -Mayors weren't any help in Tales of Symphonia and they aren't any help now. -Couldn't they have at least put all the old COs in Versus or something <_< -HAHA WHAT THE HELL GUNBOATS CAN ONLY FIRE MISSILES ONCE ): -Patiently waiting for someone to ask "What's a continent?" |

Fist of the North Star

Judging from the "Grittier atmosphere" *Coughshittyatmospherecough* I think you'll be very disappointed on that last one. |

>_> Don't you just love mindless hate? I never said it was shit, this is just a topic of my observations. And yes, this is a rather decent game. |

Fist of the North Star

But how's it measure up to, say, Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2? |

I've never finished AW1 or AW2, so I can't quite say for sure. But so far, AW1 is still the hardest game in the series. The campaign is still unbearably linear, though. I want a campaign like AW1's, that was kinda cool. |

But due to the lack of a hard campaign, it's ridiculously easy. >_> No war room... So really, you gotta stick with Wi-Fi, which you don't have. My god, it's the Halo of Advance Wars. |

On the bright side, the Tactics show is awesome. "Where's your sense of humor?" "It was shot off in the war. Very sad." |

I retract that last statement. Penny's theme is awesome. But overall, when it comes to music, Days of Ruin is pretty terrible. It's not a coincidence that my favorite themes are the ones that don't sound like everything else. For the record, my favorites are Isabella, Penny, Forsythe, and, to an extent, Gage's themes. |
