Since I didn't exactly know where to put this, I'll put it here.

Okami is awesome. It's based heavily around Japanese mythology. Your character is Amaterasu, the goddess of the sun incarnated as a white wolf with red markings. The game's genre is mainly puzzle solving, kinda like LoZ, only this incorporates something far different from the norm:

The Celestial Brush. Basically, at any given time, you are allowed to basically transform the world into a scroll and then draw various things on it. For instance: Drawing a straight horizontal line across a tree will activate Power Slash, which basically cuts things in half. Or drawing a circle with a small line through one part will create a large Cherry Bomb firework. You can even you the Brush to repair broken objects or replace missing ones. You even later get the ability to control the elements with it.

Amaterasu, or Ammy for short, fights using one of three types of ancient Japanese weapons: Reflectors, Rosaries, and Glaives. Each works differently.

Reflectors are circular objects much like a mirror. They're short range, attack at a decent rate, and have decent damage.

Rosaries are strings of beads that float around Ammy. Attacking strings the beads together for long range rapid strike attacks. Each hit does small damage, but each swing hits multiple times.

Glaives are basically swords. They're short range and attack pretty slowly, but are very powerful.

Now, those abilities with the brush, they use ink. If you run out of ink, then not only can you not use the brush momentarily, your weapon goes poof too. So be conservative.

Now, the reason why this game is awesome: It's refreshing. It's new. It utilizes something very different from the usual. The art style is amazing, too. It uses Cel shading, but rather than the usual textureless cel shading seen in games like Wind Waker and Cel Damage, this game is VERY detailed. The reason? It's meant to resemble a type of Japanese art style, the name of which escapes me.

The game is fun. EXTREMELY fun. You'll be hard pressed to find a point at which it gets old. The enemies are awesome, the characters are amazing, the plot is dynamite. Hell, they did such a good job with the characters, one is a possessed piece of paper with calligraphy on it named Tobi. His death is so well done that some people even admitted to CRYING. As someone else said, "You know you've made a good game when you can make people cry over the death of a piece of paper."

So yeah. Get this game. It's freaking AWESOME.

you forgot about secondary weapons....

reflectors: press triangle at the right time and you will counter the enemy's weapon damage by doin this is almost around a Glaive's power

rosary beads: when used as a secondary weapon depending on the type you will shoot a singal bead at the nearest enemy...type1:is like a shot gun "spred fire" more effective if youre surrounded. type2: my favorite...best when facing 1 on 1 mostly boss battles (except Orochi) this one can be used rapidly but it will only hit one enemy at a time.....

Glaive: when used as secondary if in the air Ammy will "surf" on the blade through the air in a powerful homing attack toward the enemy (the target iz pretty much random) on the ground iz a different story....unlike the primary style (which eventualy you will be able to attack up to 5 times) with secondary you can only attack once it iz more powerful than a fully charged primary glaive but its so slow that you'll be open to any attack so pretty much more harm than good

if you need boss help or area puzzle help, ill give ya the answers ya need

Well, for once, a game has powerful swords.

Fire Emblem: Weak, but fast.
Disgaea 2: Balanced with powerful abilities.
Okami: Slow, but powerful.

...Wait. You cried over the death of a piece of paper?

.... Well... *Waits for Maltese's comment*

I never cry over something that's clearly fake. Call me heartless, if you will, but I won't cry over a piece of paper dying.

Yeah, played the game, agree with rob. I have had WAY too much shit to cry about in my real life to cry about a video game character. But I do cry every time I realize that other then Ultimates and Gaimens 1602 verse, Marvel has started sucking.

Now, just because I don't cry about something doesn't mean it isn't sad. I just don't cry over fake stuff. No offense, TUM.... I think you take games way too seriously.
You got killed in an unavoidable manner on the island, and now you want to blow the whole place up. That seems to me like the opposite of mature.

On topic, I do want to try this game, it seems great, but I've got other games that I want. Less common than Okami.

It sure as hell would have been avoidable if m4s had actually updated while I was still on the fucking computer. As it was, my dad had to to bills. PRECISELY why I keep telling them to FIX THE DAMN LAPTOP AND DO THE BILLS ON THEIR OWN FUCKING COMPUTER.

And, on the side, I personally didn't cry when Tobi died, but I was kinda upset because he was cool.

See, if a character's death is done well and the character was likeable, people can actually tend to get upset over their death. Like Agro in SotC, for instance. I was dismayed when I thought he died. Cause... you know... he's been Wander's faithful companion throughout the entire game. Kinda sucks to see him seemingly fall to his death.

Likewise, Tobi was cool. Sure, he wasn't around for the entire game, but his lines, the music playing, all that, made his death somewhat upsetting.
