Ah... Battle Frontier of Emerald. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Surely those of you who own Emerald have experienced the actually challenging battles of Battle Frontier, but if you haven't, just rant about Pokemon H4X or whatever here. So where to start? Let's go with Battle Factory. Rental Pokemon. Random fun. Especially when a Clefable with Metronome, Follow Me, and some other nonattacking moves shows up. This certain Clefable has no attacking moves to speak of, unless you count Metronome. And it only has 10 PP. AND Follow Me is rendered useless, considering how I stumbled upon her in Single Battle and not Double. But I'm not saying that Metronome and Cute Charm aren't fun, but Clefable wouldn't last 5 minutes in a Strugglefest. Speaking of Strugglefest, one just happened this morning. If I recall correctly, I was up against a Blissey with Sing, Toxic, Softboiled, and Double Team with no Leftovers to speak of. I had a Cradily who had Giga Drain, Ancientpower, Barrier, and Confuse Ray. Thankfully, she (I think it was a she, yeah) had Lefties AND she was paralyzed by a certain Electrode. Paralysis may have made the Strugglefest longer, but it saved my life since Blissey was the only foe left and Para cancels out other status ailments. Blissey's Struggle did only 2 damage, which was easily recovered by Lefties. Cradily's Struggle (when it hit >_>) tore off about a fifth of Blissey's HP. Needless to say, I won, but barely. My other Pokemon was the aforementioned Clefable who was paralyzed and ran out of Metronomes. And I have had that Blissey multiple times. Fun to use. Just Toxic and Double Team up. No prob, unless you're fighting against a Machamp or a Snorlax or something. In that case, switch away. Crobats are fun, too. Especially when that Crobat is holding Lefties and has Toxic, Confuse Ray, Double Team, and last but not least... *drum roll* GIGA DRAIN. Liek no weak d00d. Somebody tell me the base Special Attack for Crobat. But Speed is nice, very nice... Oh, and Whiscash. Gah, I hate that thing with a passion. Especially since it Fissure'd my Starmie (who was on a killing spree *shot*) and it only took him 1 hit. Then afterwards, Fissure missed. Duh. But if Starmie hadn't fainted, I could've mauled the enemy. Starmie PWNs. And more recently...
Or something like that. Isn't it nice how Oblivious can bite your ass when it's on the Pokemon you absolutely abhor? Same goes with Own Tempo. Fortunately, Xatu was the Attract-er, and Xatu can FLY. He can also Toxic and Confuse Ray. Now if Pokemon each had 5 moves, and Xatu's 5th move was Double Team, it would be damn near impossible to attack him. Unless the enemy is male. In that case, it would still be damn near impossible to attack him. And Jynx is scary. The Pokemon equivalent of Flurrie... *shudders* Although she wasn't THAT bad. Ice Beam, Confuse Ray, Attract, and Sweet Kiss, IIRC. I'm probably wrong on Confuse Ray, but who cares? That Jynx had 300+ or 400+ Special Attack, methinks. Ice Beam was pretty devastating. Venusaur. Can't forget 'im. He's got Double Team, Light Screen, Leech Seed, and Giga Drain. Once he's Leech Seed'd the foe, they're done for. Just Double Team up and watch the fireworks fly. Did I mention that he's holding Brightpowder? Yay Brightpowder... I've yet to come across a Dunsparce... ;_; And now onto Battle Tower. Well, the only thing I've got to say about that is that your partners are stupid. I would've won that battle if it weren't for that stupid Golem killing my Swampert with Explosion. W00t! I just PWNinated Dome Ace Tucker-Shirt-In (no, that's not his real name, but I couldn't resist) and got the silver Tactics Symbol, my first one! But... Tucker was a real pushover. Didn't see what was so great about him, especially since 2 of his Pokemon could be taken down by Ice Beam or any other Ice attack and his Swampert fell prey to my Venusaur. So he got own'd. C'mon! Let me hear a "WOOP WOOP!" (Actually, don't. I couldn't resist that either.) Well, since I've just started playing Emerald in such a long while, those are the only things I can rant about at the moment. |

I don't have emerald, but I've played one of the areas of the Frontier on a friend's game. It was the area that you choose a door, and something happens...I made it to the leader (I forget the name)...and the enemy Shuckle H4Xes me to death! ...Oh well. I want Emerald... |

Ah, you must be speaking of Pike Queen Lucy. Never got to battle her myself, though I have come close. No, I'm lying. I haven't gotten anywhere near her. Yes, the trainers of Battle Frontier are notorious H4Xers. I often found myself cursing at my DS quite a few times. But Battle Factory is fun nontheless. Meh, I guess my next real goal will be to PWN Tucker-Shirt-in again and get the Gold Symbol. |

Palace? The one where you have almost no control over your Pokemon? Dang, you must be good... Are the symbols gold or silver? EDIT: Yesterday, I was playing in Battle Factory. A Cradily comes. My Miltank is helpless against it (darn Barrier) and promptly dies. Then Muk comes, Screeches and Minimizes, and PWNs the rest of the team. Teh end. Another EDIT: WTF is this world coming to? After the tourney with Tucker, I looked at the results. (I'll be posting the first round. The Trainers are in pairs with who the battled with. The bold trainer is the winner.) Tucker - The perfect, invincible superstar! Bird Keeper Gage - A team with average potential. Pokemon Ranger Jovan - Overall, a weak team. School Kid Megan - A team with top-class potential. Ninja Boy Gunnar - This tournament's average team. School Boy Johan - The team most unlikely to win. Collector Jesse - One win will make this team proud. Dragon Tamer Graham - A candidate to finish first. Lady Ansley - A likely top-three finisher. M3!!!!11!!!!! - A team looking for its first win. Bird Keeper Arnold - A team unlikely to win the tournament. Rich Boy Isaac - A better-than-average team. Ninja Boy Jamison - The dark horse team this tournament. Pokemon Ranger Meghan - A team with very low potential. Pokemon Ranger Dominic - A weaker-than-average team. Pokefan Tylor - A sure finalist team. Oh. My. Freaking. God. There are so many things wrong with that list... 1. Firstly, it called M3!!!!11!!!!! a "team looking for its first win". For their damn information, I ****ing PWN'd Tucker-Shirt-in and decimated 4 other tourneys! 2. Johan, the guy who's most unlikely to win or something, got as far as Tucker. Then he died. 3. Evidently, the weaker teams overpowered the stronger teams the first round. That defies all logic. I mean, it wouldn't be so scary if this happened only once or twice per round, but when it happens 7 times in the same round... 4. There's a Megan and a Meghan. I just found that weird... 5. Second round, Tucker decimated Jovan, Johan defeated Jesse, I PWNificationized whoever, and Dominic got his ass kicked by Meghan. Which is pretty weird, since Meghan has a Breloom, Exeggutor, and Miltank while Dominic has a PH33R0W. And all PH33R0Ws have Drill Peck. But then again, he's "skilled at enfeebling foes". Don't believe that... the game said that about my team once when I'm actually the sweeper type. (But enfeebling? Geez, what did he do, stick Growl onto the Fearow?) 6. li3k, d15cu55 pplz |

I think I have 2 apprentices, one is in training, though. The first one (I think she is a Battle Girl or whatever it's called) has a Golem and Pelipper. Golem... CAN EXPLODE. Which is a pain in the ass, since once, Explosion killed my Swampert. |

Explosion's an annoying move, but not nearly as annoying as Protect/Detect. It just bugs me to hell and delays the battle. I'd like to sock the genius who came up with that move. |

Well, Protect/Detect isn't lethal, it's just that it's so annoying, having the battle last longer than it should, even if it's only by 5 seconds or something. So basically, I hate it for no particular reason. EDIT: *rams self repeatedly into nearest wall* Oh. My. Freaking. God. Battle Factory H4X. I choose Sceptile, Swampert, and Salamence. Turn 1, Sceptile goes up against Marowak. Scepty uses Leaf Blade, Maro survives within a millimeter of his life. He uses Rock Slide, Scepty's HP hits 38. Turn 2, Scepty kills Maro, Tauros comes out and Intimidates Scepty. Scepty uses Leaf Blade, Tauros survives... and uses Double Edge, killing Scepty. I sent out Salamence. Turn 3, Mence Crunches Tauros, Tauros uses Ice Beam. WTF. Mence survives... and is promptly frozen. Then Salac Berry kicks in. Turn 4, Mence is still frozen, falls prey to Tauros. I send out Swampert. Turn 5, Pert uses Surf and kills Tauros, but not before he loses 1/5 of his HP. Turn 6, Rapidash appears. I think to myself, "Too easy..." Rapidash uses Hypnosis. WTF. That's weirder than the Ice Beam Tauros. Why does a unicorn have the ability to hypnotize? Hynosis hits and Pert falls asleep. Turn 7, Rapidash charges for Solarbeam. Oh crap, I thought. Swampert doesn't wake up. Turn 8, Swampert dies, end battle. >_< |

Well, I'm playing Emerald again... what was I doing over the last few months? Not playing it... and taking the time to craft two more winners, Milotic (Flea Plus) and Crobat (Zero-Two). Unfortunately, Zero-Two sucks against Steel-types, especially when Choice Band locks her on Sludge Bomb. Which reminds me... the Battle Arena sucks. Twice, it has taken away my chance to challenge the Arena... uh... important person... yeah. The second time was just WTF. My Pokemon order was Venusaur (Plantman), Swampert (Bogmire), and Zero-Two. I'm up against a Dragon Tamer. Plantman versus Charizard. Go! Bye-bye, Plantman. Then it's Bogmire versus Charizard. Piece of cake, I thought. Not so. Bogmire gets Charizard to an inch of its life, though he falls as well. Then it's Zero-Two. She uses Sludge Bomb, killing the Charizard, and I feverishly hoped the Dragon Tamer wouldn't send out a Steel-type. When I found out Skarmory was next, I swear, someone was laughing at me. Skarmory uses Agility twice, then Counter. Of course, Zero-Two couldn't do anything to it, so that was pointless. Then the three turns were up. Zero-two scores on Mind, Skarmory wins on Skill (which should've been tied), and it's a tie on Body. It's a draw. *waves O RLY? flag* Apparently, to the people who run the Battle Arena, win = win, lose = lose, and draw = lose. WTF. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper. And to add insult to injury, the Dragon Tamer goes "You're good, I'm just better." At least in Netbattle, they sometimes say "good game"... and sometimes is better than nothing. Let's see... I'll be sure to include "Burn down Battle Arena" in tomorrow's to-do list. |

Battle Arena hates me. Once, I was able to fight the Arena Captain, except Zero-two fainted before she could own Shedinja. It was all downhill from there. I was also able to get to the Frontier Brain of the Battle Pyramid, but yeah, I lost again. On the plus side, I defeated the Salon Maiden Anabel and got the Ability Symbol. W00t! Did I mention that I've also gotten the Luck Symbol? Pike Queen Lucy was really easy. |
