I'm not an expert on this crap, but I'm guessing SPAM bots just go anywhere; It doesn't matter if a forum is active or not. And some forums manage faster than others and have tools that block things with ease.

Your on to it. They do go anywhere. If it can advertise, they'll go there.

The staff at IF have said that Zeta Board should be Spam bot free since it's custom made. We'll just have to deal with it for now.

I don't understand that. i mean they said the same thing when they first bought invisionfree out. But look at this IF board now. And it won't take long for some f***** to make a spam bot that can get into the system. But you don't know till you've tried.

Is it possible that we could get a new "Please enter what you see in this image" system up? One that Can't be bypassed, and is incredibly hard for an OCR program to work out, but still makes registration easy for human users?
Perhaps a small animated GIF, in an unconvential font that makes it hard for bots to bypass?

We already have one of those up but new technology has enabled them to bypass it.
I and just doing admin validation for now and since I can't tell whether it's a person or a bot; few members will be va

Is there a code at invisionfree that lets you add fields to the register page? cause of there is you could add one that tells the person to register to type a sentence such as i'm not a spam bot, so that when it comes to admin validation you know who is a spam bot and who isn't.

just another idea i thought of.

Brilliant idea.

Maybe it could ask them to type a sentence agreeing to the terms and conditions as well.

Could be a double-barreled winner for us if you can get it working.

There's no way to add an extra field to the form.

- Filter out the porn words so they won't be able to post a topic/post. WOrks the same for swear filter of urls, site names, etc.
- For all new members, they would be required to PM the admin to be able to get posting permission. (tutorial here).
- Change the image verification to something that only the human eye can detect.

I don't know to much about the forums and all, But you know when you have to write the numbers to identify if your human and all, is it possible that you make it have to be typed right to left, instead of left to right, so to stop the auto process, Although I highly doubt that would be possible.

BTW ty on the acceptance (Woot!)
