1. Make a new document, any size you wish. I will be making a signature and mine size will be 370x135px.

Chande the foreground color to A1A1A1, and the background color to 5F5F5F.

2. Grab the Gradient Tool. Set it on Radical, with the Forefround fading to the background colors.

3. Now using the Gradient Tool, fill from bottom to top on the right, hold down shift for a straight line.Like this:

You should get something like this:

4. Grab the Rounded Reactangle Tool, set Radius to 2, above your background layer make a reactangle shape in black, right-click on that layer on the layer pallette and Rasterize Layer:

8. Now for the gloss, Make a new layer CTRL+Click on the layer you just set, grab the reactangle selection tool. While holding down Alt cut half of the selectionlike this:

Right-click fill with white on the new layer. CTRL+D, set the opacity to around 10.
Posted Image

9. Grab the Text Tool and add your text on the blue box.
Posted Image

10. Repeat step 4 underneath the first Metal reactangle shape on the layer pallete for the pipes but instead make the shape downward. Make how many pipes in what ever direction you like or more boxes, I like to keep it simple.

If you like your banner with just interface you don't need to follow the next part.
The next part is also the final part your result will be something similar to this:

Love the tutorial but I tried it and I'm having trouble. I skipped everything up until step 4 because I don't need anything before that...I didn't get far and got stuck on step 6.

When I CTRL + click it doesn't have modify highlighted in the drop down so I can't select that. Am I having trouble because I was suppose to do everything exactly the same?

Are you sure the object is selected?
Not following the steps before step 4 shouldn't interfere with it.
