Tutorial for: Adobe Photoshop 7.0 - CS2
Tutorial difficulty: 4/10

Step 1:Start out with a plain old white background render.I'm going to be using Final fantasy X-2 Rikku (feel free tt use it if you wish).

Step 2:Select your magic wand tool and select the white background part of the render. Now go to Select > Inverse.Set your fore and background colors to black, then use a gradient. Now go to Edit > Cut.

Step 3:Now set the fore and background colors to the color you want the new background to be.Use a gradient again and you should have something like this:

Step 4:Without deselecting, take out some brushes and begin brushing the silhouette in until you've got a fairly decent pattern.I'm going to use fractals.

Step 5:Now go to Select > Deselect.Make sure your background color is the same one you used in step 3.Use the fill tool and then Flatten the image. Layer > Flatten.
Now paste the black silhouette on the new image and do your best to align it with the brushed one.Once you've done that,go to the opacity and set it until you are pleased with it.
My Final Result:

It's a unique effect, but I couldn't think of anytime I would be using it.
