Voice log of Hype Kokinyu, Field commander. Originally uploaded to YarrNet Black Diamond Subsystems... Thankfully. As noted in the nav records, our day started off with massive delays. The Aegise Islands, a once thriving island of sun-worshipers, was cast into what we can only speculate as miasma. It reminds me, at first glance, of the poisonous fog originally found in the DarkXone. We weren't willing to test the matter; Now is not the time. We found a cove to land in- thanks to the Diamond's superior navigation team, the the help of smallboats, we weaved our way to land. We found ourselves upon a shore- A team comprised of Myself, Ramah, Captain Jenet, Loki, Arisa and Goth came ashore. Cyrus, though not under official command, came as well, along with two of the teens; Gregor, the gecko, and young Mirrai.. Admittedly both teens I find to be more than just mysterious.. but we need all the help we can get. As we weaved through the rocky cove, Loki pointed out a flag hanging from the tall rocks. The insignia has been logged in the database, alongside this log. Ramah was quick to point out it was the insignia of hostiles- A group called "La Masquerade" who deal in old fashion Priacy. Jenet noted some information about them as well- Primarily the structures housed near the shore (a small prison, and a device of execution. Real warm welcome). We had surmised that our landing place was a trading post, and had assumed it to be empty. Cyrus was quick to point out fighting in the distance, over the sandy dunes leading inland. I sent him ahead, as well as Ramah to scout for information. What we found were that the coast was very much still inhabited by the coastal reptillian people- The Gilafoue- and their homestead was very much under attack. The area, more or less surrounded by either rock or dense folliage, had its escape routes blocked by that nasty black fog, as mentioned prior. All except for one, which the Gilafoue peoples were disparately trying to defend. With inferior weapons, they aimed to fight back a hoarde of Nakalings (for information, consult the Beastiary, time restrictions on these logs inhibit me from a formal explanation). Alongside the Gilafoue, we spotted one of Ramah's Kin, a young martial mage by the name of "Precip." He filled us in after the fighting was over. Quickly we dispatched the foes, and ushered the wounded to safety... Points of interest were those with control over Dark elemental powers.. *a subtle drop in his volume can be noticed* ... I am putting Goth and Loki under close surveillance for this reason. Gods know I trust these two.. but... I know I shouldn't be paranoid, but with all that's going on, no chances can be taken. *there is a pause in the log. The ambient in the background changes, from waves to the sound of voices in the background ,chatting. Feet are moving briskly, and the sounds of twigs breaking can be heard* After consulting Precip, the compound soon came back under attack; We saw beasts we hadn't before. Apparently, Nakamaro, if this truely is his work, has learned to become more creative in his twisted designs. Attacking from our only exit came two behemoths, massive in size, standing like massive apes.. and one smaller, quicker, mage-like creature. The mage was intelligent, capable of attacking us head on, but not strong enough to fight us all at once. It bolstered the other two, and took us by storm. Simultaneously, the tinier Nakalings- dubbed "Imps" - swarmed in from behind, attempting to pince us. Thanks to the tactics of Ramah and precip, their plan failed. Notable was Mirrai's involvement in aiding civillian Gilafoue. As we fought, from the water appeared a ship bearing the insignia of La Masquerade. It was an impressive to see their crew diving off of their ship and swimming to shore before docking, rushing into battle with such bravado... They remind me of our own group... Only with more scales. Their leader, introduced to us as "Bastien," ended up aiding us directly in the battle, distracting the Mage in order for Captain Jenet to strike the ending blow. The behemoth fell shortly thereafter. Action packed as the day was, we did get some answers. When the fighting was said and done, we consulted one another. Ramah and Jenet proved to be surprisingly effective ambassadors- Ramah to his kin, Jenet to Bastien of La Masquerade. It turns out that Nakamaro overtook the island within days. Less than three, if accounts reported are correct. The thick black fog, as we had suspected, performs a simmilar effect to DarkXone's Darkmatter- in that those who touch it become spiritually damaged... It has some kind of property that drains those who contact it of spirit energy, effectively numbing them into catatonic stupor. Furthermore... It drains them of their essences, turning living flesh to stone. The only acception I have seen so far is that Fauna, of any type, remains unaffected... I wish to study this some time. Regardless- We are all advised not to go near it. Precip had informed us that another Dragon enforcer is northwest of here- In the northwest delta where the Gilafoue main city can be found. Although I shared my opinion that we should go straight north and seek the Aegien people in the mainland, Bastien also voiced that he would be returning to this city, with or without us. We decided to band together, power in numbers. Now as I speak, we are en route to the Gilafoue city, trekking through narrow wooded passage. It is difficult to tell if nightfall is soon- its cloudy. Spirits are high... despite being pirates on the other end of the law, La Masquerade appear to be compliant if not helpful... Perhaps they are seeking a pardon when all is said and done- they're thieves, after all.. under normal circumstances, Ramah's kin would be arresting them and turning them over to authorities on the mainland. The trees cast long shadows. We group closer as time passes... unsure whether it is simply dark.. or if we're stepping into our own graves. Now as we walk we are halfway between the beach and the city, and have set up camp.. Just long enough to rest; Sleeping here is not an option. We need to move. I'll broadcast another log at the designated time. By then we will have reached the gilafoue city, and I should have more answers.. The locals there should know where we can find naka and put an end to this terror tactic. Things are looking good so far; so long as we continue to form allies and keep diplomatic, we should be fine. Hype Kokinyu. End log. |
