Subject: Raiders Law

Dagger’s assured me that we haven’t done anything to offend the Elementals, so I’m left to wonder just what god we did offend to deserve our luck. It’s gotten to the point where we can’t even hold a meeting in peace. Feh. Alright, here are the details.

The summit had quite a turnout. Among the guests were representatives of all the major cities and villages of Tolaria: Governor Kazanachou and her assistant, Artemis, of Metropolis; General Kreig and Colonel Jim Burden of the TDF; Lord Rowanoak and Clary the Hare of Forge; Chief Celari, Warrior Varnin and Honored Van of the Alastar; Lord Iorek and two attendants representing the Armored Bears; as well as other lords and chieftains from Elendil, Luna Village, and Xeno Village. In addition to the Raiders present – Tom, Arisa, Goth, Fraise, CF,Vector, Jenet, Kyren, Serrah, and myself – we also had several of our visitors present: Aidan, Eden, Sol, Damian, Mirrai, Vouse, Ko, Iria, and Reson. Cyrus and Katt, Hardrive’s godfather and wife, were also in attendance, as well as the earthly hosts of the Elementals themselves. Throw in Damus to help guide the meeting and we had quite the gathering.

As if that stopped anyone…

Anyway, the point of the meeting was to discuss what has been happening on Mobius and what to do about it. It’s been two weeks since Hectapol’s escape, nearly one since our defeat on the Elemental Plain and the… loss… of our commander. Damus explained how her presence is making magic screwy across Mobius and we began to plan. We decided that whatever course of action we took, it would have to be together. Fighting in individual groups just wouldn’t cut it – we needed to unit, as we had during the Void War.

As we were contemplating how to attack, Damus told us that we would need the Chaos Emeralds. Furthermore, he decided to directly involve himself in the fight and pledged himself to our efforts.

Of course, of course, this declaration did not go unchallenged. Just when things look like they were going to be all right, Urza – the Urza, the first Planeswalker of Tolaria, and the very echidhog who bested the Elementals thousands of years ago – showed up to rain on our parade. He claimed some nonsense about not allowing Damus to interfere. That through a few of our more hot-headed and reckless companions into a tiff, but Damus calmed them down before defying Urza himself. Last we saw, he turned into lightning, struck Urza – who also turned into lightning – and carried him off into the sky. Bloody all-powerful mages…

So, right, while we were recovering from that little encounter, guess who dropped by to pay us a visit? Noneother than the smug-faced bastard himself, Hannibal. Before we could so much as say ‘What the
[Expletive Deleted],’ Aidan went on the attack, Vector charged him, and Kyren through a FREAKIN’ TABLE at him. Seriously, who the bloody hell chucks a table around like it was a paperweight? I always knew the commander was a little gung-ho at times, but it looks like that particular trait runs in his family.

Anyway, in a casual show of strength, Hannibal laid out Vector without touching him, chucked Aidan into the kitchen (resulting in a mild concussion, a broken arm and a cracked rib, all being repaired by a rejuv tank as I write this) and just disintegrated the table. It took Tom, Jenet and myself combined to calm the other warriors present and stop them from attacking.

When asked what he wanted, Hannibal said he was just dropping by to tell us that Tolaria was his and that we, the Raiders, have 24 hours to gtfo (yeah, I’m up on that acronym slang thing. Last time I’ll ever sue it, too) or else Tolaria will suffer. We had a bit of an objection, and Governor Kaz started to speak her mind – and was promptly banished back to Metropolis. To prove his point, Hannibal then banished all the others back to their homes, leaving us all alone with him. CF had the right idea when he asked just what Hannibal had wished for when he took up the Veritas Orb and he told us that he now had control over the Twilight Crystal (for those of you who don’t give a damn about history, the TC is a powerful gem in the same weight class as the Master and Heaven’s White Emeralds and is the source of Tolaria’s levitation).

His message sent and grudgingly received, Hannibal left us to our devices. Tom brought us together and we agreed that leaving was the best course of action to avoid dropping even more trouble on Tolaria. Tom also expressed his firmly held belief that the commander was alive and that we better get our asses into gear. I’ve never been a man of faith, but when things are looking this grim, you look for comfort where you can get it.

So, for the unobservant, that’s the reason for all the fuss and hubbub around the Villa. Come this time tomorrow, we’ll all be onboard the Exodus and heading off to waters unknown. Although we don’t have any idea where we’re going, one of Damus’ last words was the importance of finding the Chaos Emeralds, so we have an idea what we should do.

I don’t trust myself to further comment on recent events – the first computer I tried writing this on burned out, so there you go.
