Subject: Morgan the Witch

I went into Metropolis to pay 'Morgan' a visit the other night, accompanied by Hype, Jenet, Loki, Tom, Camitzal, Cameron, Arisa, Nearon, and Drake. Cloak had written down an address for me but several sweeps of the street had told us that the place simply didn't exist. That assumption lasted until the large wooden fence around her property appeared out of nowhere while we were standing right in front of where it was supposed to be. If she's powerful enough to cast a veil that powerful over her home... man. I recall being glad I had so many of your guys with me.

We ventured through an oriental-style red archway and immediately knew something was off. It felt like a weight had settled on our shoulders, weighing us down, dragging at us. Whenever we reached for our magic it simply slipped away or otherwise proved too difficult to manipulate. The only people who didn't feel it were Cameron and Jenet, the only people who had no special powers. We hadn't even met the witch and she had already demonstrated her powers of illusion and dampened our own abilities. Morgan two, Raiders zilch.

Beyond the arch was a manicured lawn with a small oriental house set at its center. Upon approaching the house we were met by a white ermine in a dark coat and hat who introduced himself as Ghost. He was surprisingly friendly, not at all like the minion of dark witch, and told us he was simply working off a debt to Morgan. He told us that she had been expecting us and ushered us inside.

It turns out that Morgan's house doubled as an occult shop - although I can't fathom how a shop can prosper when the customers can't find it. It was filled with all kinds of strange things... talismans, tomes, jars full of pickled eyes and clouds of hazy incense. Ghost led us to a back room dominated by a large stone Mobian head, an unassuming pedestal and a bowl of incense. We were only in there for a minute or two before Morgan glided in.

I have to admit, she was attractive... on the level with Mortelle, although Morgan flaunted it in ways Mortelle never did (of course, both pale in comparison to my lovely wife >_>;). She was also arrogant as hell, trying to tempt us into deals that would likely have cost us an arm and a leg. We weren't able to get a lot of information from her but she did take responsibility for the Shadow Beast attacks. She also hinted at knowing Jonas' location. We told her we had come there to stop her but she just... laughed in our faces. She pointed out that we could give it a try but reminded us that she had let us in and we would be fighting an opponent with unknown abilities on her own turf - not the smartest tactical move.

She did, however, offer us a bargain. She told us that she would either stop the Shadow Beasts or give us Jonas' location - if we agreed to get her a certain ring currently in Cloak's possession. She gave us a week to make our decision and dismissed us. Ghost walked us out and her home vanished behind us.

At first glance, the deal's a no-brainer. Should we go for it, we choose to stop the Shadow Beasts - simple as that. What gets me is that Morgan hinted at Jonas being a greater threat, especially if we don't deal with him now. I'm a little worried about what this means but we can't follow up on it - not if we have the opportunity to stop all the attacks on the Metropolitan citizens.

Now the only hitch is in convincing Cloak to let us give her the ring. She's sworn not to use it in a way that will prompt our involvement, but I'm not sure how reliable her word is. Or what the ring does. Or if Cloak would even consider parting with the ring. Only one way to get some answers, though. It's time I had a little chat with the reformed disciple.
