Name: Hardrive C. Echidhog Rank: Commander Security Clearance: Level 7 Date: June 28, 20XX Subject: Mortelle Last night was a complete dead end but, fortunately, it wasn't a wasted effort. Well... I guess 'fortunately' is a bad word. We stumbled on a whole new bag of trouble. While on patrol last night Loki witnessed one of the Aegien book thefts in progress. She radioed it in and followed the thief - a canine retriever (no pun) - and I gathered all Raiders in the area to meet some blocks ahead of her location. The thief had just gotten there by the time we had gathered and made his way into a boarded up abandoned subway station. Tom, Hype and Jenet stayed on the street to watch our backs. Loki and Camitzal went in ahead of us due to having the best night-vision abilities (no electricity in the station). Vector and I came next, followed by Goth and Fraise. Ramah and Drake covered our rear. Loki and Camitzal followed the thief - from a distance - down into the subway station and into the tunnels. We caught up to our scouts at the door to an access hall, through which the canine had escaped. We made our way inside and wound up at a room straight out of a bad foreign movie. Rugs and coverings everywhere, a harem of muscle-bound servants, and a plush throne - upon which sat Mortelle. Needless to say, she was as surprised to see us as we were to see her - she was practically foaming at the mouth. We exchanged hers - most of hers unable to be repeated - and discovered that she knew nothing about Dresden's murder. She was behind the recent thefts of Aegien books but had nothing to do with Dresden's missing artifacts, reinforcing Nakamaro's likely involvement. Ramah - acting without orders - made a move against the canine we had followed which set off a fight against Mortelle's guards, in the chaos of which she was able to escape. Three of our opponents - the canine, a jaguar, and a rat - proved to be Juicers of a new variety. Their special abilities didn't turn on them at the end of the fight. The canine proceeded to engage Ramah in a fist-fight, his increased strength and endurance enabling him to hold his own against the dragon. Goth and 'Zal engaged the Jaguar who possessed powers similar to that of dry ice. Loki, Vector and Fraise went after the rat while I tried to follow Mortelle (to no avail). The Juicers were put down easily enough - they weren't as tough as our usual enemies - and we were able to retrieve the pair of spellbooks that had been stolen. Nothing that helps our current investigation, unfortunately. I've put the word out and have people keeping an eye out for Mortelle. Meanwhile, I'd like to formally induct Camitzal into the Raiders - she's proven to be a capable fighter and an eager Raider. In the meantime, I'd like to step up patrols in the Hell's Gate area of the city. The place is crawling with Shadow Beasts, increasing the criminal activity in the area - especially in regards to crimes against women. ((There's going to be a CtA next Friday at 8PM Eastern.)) |
