Better than you

The scene opens to backstage at the Freedom Hall, post Chronicles. Mark Williams is seen in the hallway, leaning up against the wall, apparently thinking to himself. His hair is dripping sweat and water from his match. He’s still in his ring gear, with his Jean Jacket/Hoodie combo over it, North American title strapped around his waist. He’s staring at the ground.

Mark Williams - 10 seconds. Tonight it took about 10 seconds to turn what could have been a triumphant victory into utter humiliation. 10 seconds to turn what could have been the final nail in the coffin between me and Grimm, the act that would finally shut up the critics.

Williams leans his head up and stares into the camera.

Mark Williams - 10 seconds was all it took to turn a Mark Williams victory into a Mark Williams loss. See I envisioned that at the end of my match with Grimm, my sling match that I was unwillingly forced into under circumstances no man should wrestle in, I envisioned that at the end of that match I would be standing over a fallen Grimm, holding my North American title high into the air, victorious, but no, no that didn’t happen. For those of you that missed it, my match with Grimm ended with HIM, not ME, standing with the North American title.

Grimm, you’re lucky I even partook in that match, see I could of said I’ve already wrestled you twice, and I wasn’t going to do it again, but no, I said one more time, maybe I’ll shut him up for the last time, and what do you do? You swerve me. Grimm, you should have been disqualified for taking your sling off, but you weren’t, and for what reason? Because it seems Damien Clark had some sort of vendetta against me. See word around the locker room is that Damien Clark doesn’t take kindly to me or the Essentials antics over the past few weeks. Well you know what I say to that? I say he can shut up and deal, because nothing is changing.

Mark starts to get more animated.

Mark Williams - You see people, DAMIEN CLARK thinks that by using this as some sort of punishment for me, maybe I’ll learn my lesson, maybe I’ll shape up, but Clark, you’ve done the exact opposite. All this does is motivate the Essential to make everyone else’s lives in POW a living hell. Grimm, I’m going to tell you a little story, a fable of sorts, you may of heard of it. It’s called the Fox and the Goat.

You see one day a Fox fell deep, deep into a well, and he couldn’t get out. Shortly after a Goat passed by, and asked the Fox what he was doing in the well. The Fox says “Haven’t you heard, there’s going to be a great drought, so I jumped into this well in order to be sure I have enough water, why don’t you come down too? Then the goat pondered for a bit, thought well of the advice, and the Goat jumped right into the well. Well as soon as that Goat landed, the Fox jumped on the Goat’s back, and he put his feet on her long horns, and jumped up to the edge of the well. And the Goat looks up at the Fox staring down at him, and he ask “Why, why would you do that to me?”. And the Fox looked down at the pathetic Goat, and he says “Good-bye, Friend. If you had brains equal to the number of hairs on your beard, you would of not jumped down without a way back up.”

Williams continues to stare into the camera, becoming much more stern than usual. Sweat and water still drips down his hair, face and chest.

Mark Williams - See Grimm, that’s exactly what’s going down with you and me. See Grimm it’s you who’s the pathetic Goat, it’s you who’s gotten himself in too deep, when you slid that cast off, when you revealed that supposed arm injury was a rouse, that was you jumping into the well. But see, just like the Goat, that was your mistake, because like the Goat, you don’t have a way up. Grimm there is no way out of this for you, because there is NO way you will EVER embarrass me like that again. And when we finally do meet in the ring again, one on one, I’ll become the Fox, and I’ll be the one leaping off of you out of that well, and when I stand over you with the North American title in your face, and you know that you lost your shot at glory, then you too will feel the shame, the humiliation.

Grimm, one day soon, you’ll get yours. One day soon you’ll understand why I’m the fastest rising star the industry has ever seen, and one day soon you’ll understand why I have this North American title. One day soon you’ll realize that the reason you’ll fail in your battle against me, is because I’m Mark Williams, and I’m better than you.

Williams turns and walks away as the scene fades.
