Hey everyone! Have more menu progress to show! This time the finalized Main Menu, and the Item and Status menus. MAIN MENU The Main Menu has been cleaned up a tiny bit, mainly giving Sailor Mars the correct eye color and adding a little more detail to the character icons. I also changed the Act Title and Yen amount font to match better. ![]() ITEM MENU And this is how the Item menu will work: When you highlight an item, artwork of the item and a description will be displayed. By pressing left or right, you will be able to switch between the three inventory categories, normal items, equipment, and key items. (Note that the bandage artwork is temporary and will be replaced with a pixel version) ![]() When you have selected a normal item, you will be able to use it on any of the current party members, meaning the active or support characters. ![]() By pressing up or down, you can switch between the active and support character. ![]() STATUS MENU The Status menu will act as both the typical status section of the Menu as well as the typical Equip function. Status allows you to change your equipment and view status and information on the characters. By pressing left or right, you can switch between all of the current party members. ![]() As always, comments and criticism are welcome and encouraged! |

Love it! But I think the plaster on the Item menu could be outlined maybe in black so it would stand out a bit more? Please don't mind my criticizing. Overall, I am loving the look of this RPG though!

Criticism is always welcome! I was actually thinking the same thing but didn't like it with a black stroke. I'll play around with colors and stroke size and see what I can do!

I like how brightly colored everything is, and how the adaptations of the manga illustrations are in pixel-style. I do think it's a bit odd to change the original illustrations of some of the senshi (namely Jupiter and Mercury) to have lipstick matching their image color, instead of what it was in the original illustrations (MangaStyle: Senshi Cover Flap Profiles). Mercury looks like she's pouting (because of it? Not sure. Would have to see her with normal-colored lips to know for sure). The only other thing I'm wondering is if all the font styles are finalized. There seem to be at least three different styles just here in the menus alone, and it makes it look a bit cluttered to me. If the sidebar font were the same style (not necessarily the same size or anything) as the font in the body of the menu (e.g. where it says Items, Status, and so forth) then it might have a more cohesive appearance. Same goes for the item descriptions--an abrupt serif font looks out of place in something that has previously used techy-like, boxy, sans-serif game fonts. All in all, I think the color and layout looks great! Just those two things caught my eye. |

The fonts aren't necessarily final, no. I was worried about that too, too many fonts. I'll probably make the font used in the Status and Item screens the more universal font since it's the easiest to read. I tried using the same font as the menu sections in "Main Menu" for item names and whatnot, and the problem is it's a very wide font, and long item names would end up not fitting. But no worries, I'll get it sorted out with as few fonts as possible. XD As far as the profile image changes, I'm just using the original images as a basis. The lipstick color was a personal choice. They won't be wearing lipstick like that in any other images in the game. The profile images here also aren't how the Soldiers will look at the beginning, since their first forms are their "Prototype" forms where they all have unique appearances and masks, the more uniform appearances were just easier to start with as a basis. So once those are done I'll see how the image color lipstick still looks. |

None of the images are loading for me. I've checked the thread over several days and they still show up as broken images. But everyone else can see them so I'm not sure what my problem is. :S Either way, I'm glad this is still making headway since my disappearance. <_<; |

Have you tried refreshing, Daio? Could be an issue with the server. |

I had previously and it didn't work, but now they're showing up like normal so I guess it doesn't matter. @_@ But everything looks really good so far, I like the attention to detail, and the actual images of the items themselves (that bandaid for instance). 'course now I gotta look through updates to see what this support business is about :P |

Sounds like it'll be fun, and probably easier to program for than five party members :P I swear I've seen a similar battle system in another RPG, but honestly it's not coming to mind. Also, Chains, have you ever really explained how skills are going to work out? I noticed that there are going to be physical techs and magical abilities ASIDE from the signature skills from the anime/manga (a great idea, if I may say so, I think more fangames should implement it). Are these gotten through regular level ups or a point-buy, and what makes them desirable compared to the signature abilities? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, but 've been gone for a while and am a little out of the loop. |

Always love to answer questions. Actually, the attacks from the manga/anime are also incorporated into the Tech/Magic divisions. This is how it will work: In the game, all learnable abilities are Skills, which are divided into one of two categories, "Techs" and "Magic". Techs are any kind of attacks on the enemy. Magic is everything else, from healing to inducing status effects on enemies. So, Moon Tiara Action for example is a Tech because it is an attack, but Moon Healing Escalation is a Magic ability because it is used for healing. In order to acquire new Skills (Techs and Magic), you have to spend Skill Points earned from battle. Each party member has a separate Skill set for Techs, and a separate Skill set for Magic, both with their own menu where you spend your points. Each party member will start off with one or two skills available in both sets, which will branch off to unlock more and more as the game progresses. Skills will also have levels, and spending points to level them up will strengthen them and add new effects. Some skills will also evolve into new skills. I'm actually working on the Skill menus at the moment so they're the next thing I'm going to show. I've been working on the ideas for it for a long time and I think everyone will be pleased! I figured out some pretty neat ways to set up the Skill sets which I think will be a lot of fun. Pics to follow soon!
