It's already been decided that Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus will start with their original prototype designs and then change into their more recognized forms when the identity of Princess Serenity is revealed, but it has not been decided how this will work for Sailor Moon. So the question is should she too start with her prototype design (or Materials Collection design) and then change form to her standard form when her identity as the Princess is revealed, or should she just simply have her standard form the whole first arc? Or, should it work differently for her and the change happen at some other time? Standard Form: ![]() Prototype design: (Original pink and blonde versions) ![]() Materials Collection design: ![]() I personally think she should start with the Prototype design and then change to her standard form when her identity as the Princess is revealed. I just can't decide if I like the pink hair or blonde hair, but leaning towards the blonde because the pink may be too much of a stretch. But the change in the outfit is slight but enough to make an impact and when the change happens show she too has a more uniform look with her allies. |

A really good idea. Avoid the pink hair though, we'll get our fill of that from Chibiusa later on inte the story... Pretty sprites as always, though. ^^ |

Awesome sprits, I agree. And I like the pink, but I think you should use the Prototype with blonde, too.

I voted for pink , I think it will make her less recognizable (being incognito is a good thing) plus with minako I think we already have enough blondes:-) of course I know this is straying far from original , but I think it would be fun |

I voted for Prototype with Blonde, but I also like the Materials design. I definitely think she should switch when they discover she is the princess. I also think you should stay away from the pink. No one else has that drastic change of hair color, so I don't really think it's appropriate... even if she is the princess. |

Blonde prototype. Pink doesn't look right to me, I also think after she's revealed a change to normal fuku would look better. |

I say blonde prototype too, since the pink is Chibiusa's and that was done probably before it was decided her color hair would be silver. |

You've got the right idea chains, start with the blonde prototype, and then later be in standard form. |

Chronologically speaking, the prototype version came first (pp. 2-3 of the Materials Collection) and had the "weirdest" versions of the Senshi's uniforms, because they were all pretty much unique. What Sailor Moon was wearing became the de facto standard for the others, and Sailor V's look was changed only slightly for her manga debut. Then the "materials collection" version (p. 4 of the MC) looks most like Sailor Moon's finalized manga form, except for her gloves and shoulder pads. Since only the colors are different from the final version, I guess it really depends on how big a change everyone wants the Senshi (namely Moon here) to go through upon discovery of the Princess. Whether it's been manga or the live-action, upon discovery of the Princess, Moon's uniform has only changed slightly, but in important ways--e.g. her tiara, pearl-like designs added to everything, more crescent moons... I dunno, I guess I'm kind of a traditionalist. The manga had her change her form only a little, so I'm leaning toward the manga version. Barring that, the Materials Collection version, since it's the next least-extreme in terms of changes, although the blonde prototype version has only a few more (gloves, boots, back bow). Not sure if you saw the topic where the idea was brought to the table and then added into the story about the Soldiers having their prototype outfits first and then standard forms after discovering the identity of the Princess, but the point of having their outfits change is to emphasize their mission and uniformity upon the discovery of the Princess. Their role of "protecting the Princess" is severely downplayed in the game until her identity's discovery, and the Soldiers focus their energies on finding the Phantom Silver Crystal and defeating the enemy. With their unique uniforms they are more like separate heroes, and while they do work as a team, they at times disband and take things into their own hands and act alone. Upon discovering the Princess's identity and regaining some of their memories as well as seeing the enemy's darkest capabilities, they see the importance of acting as a team. Thus, their change to a more uniform appearance is not only cosmetic but mental. Also, Sailor Moon's prototype appearance is also different from her standard form in that the bottom of her armor is more like her school uniform (Kind of box-y) instead of the "V" shape that her standard form has. One thing to remember with this project is the manga is not the only source of material. Originality and the use of other ideas is central to a new and unique Sailor Moon experience. |

It's funny cause I was just thinking this same thing when I say your final design. I think you should use them all. Think about it...In the manga Sailor Moon gradually transforms into her standard form. It's not just all at once, right?. Doesn't she start noticing changes in a fuku slowly before it becomes standard? This can be hard to show in sprite form, but if you show the transition using all of the prototype versions then it might make it more clear that she is changing. Though I have to mention... I thought her prototype hair was almost never blonde, but more silver/white like princess serenity's... Or pink. Not blonde though, I think I saw it gold once, but not blonde. Naoko did so many drawings it's really hard to keep up; there are some where she had shades of blonde hair. The Prototype design with blonde hair is just for aesthetic purposes; she was never seen in that particular uniform with that particular shade of hair, but for the purpose of the game it's more consistent. Using all of the designs would be overkill, but having her change from one to the other in the first story arc matches with the change that the Inner Soldiers go through. Sailor Moon's tiara will still upgrade like in the manga (at the same times), this is strictly about her outfit. |

It would definitely be overkill. i think almost all of us agree on the prototype design with blonde hair, right? |
