Sorry to those haters out there who are cringing right now at this. I can understand why some people hate it - with how insane some fans get. (Made me almost dislike it myself for the longest time!)

Anyway, this is about the New Moon movie that was released November 20th. I was wondering if anyone else had seen it or was planning to see it? And what your thoughts were on it?

Without saying too much that might spoil specific parts of the film, I'll say that I really really enjoyed it. I was lucky enough to be able to convince my mom to take me to the pre-screening at 10:15pm on Thursday night before it officially came out, and it was SO. GOOD. The first film really sucked in comparison, there was so much that was really good that could have been done and wasn't because of the lack of funding and the lack of a director who understood the essence of the Twilight series. (I mean, seriously, she *Catherine Hardwicke* wanted to turn it into a lighthearted love story when it's not supposed to be like that, it's supposed to be sad and heartbreaking.)

This movie though, it was different. I felt like everything was captured so well, anything that was changed felt like it was for the better, and things that were in the film that were new were just awesome. Even Stephenie said some of the stuff she wished she'd thought of for the book! And it was really good quality in contrast to the first movie as well. It felt more like a movie worthy of it's popularity, whereas Twilight I was horrendously underwhelmed.

And who else was blown away by Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black? I can't believe they were thinking about recasting him, he did perfect - he made me actually LIKE Jacob, a character I never really cared for.

Thanks for posting this. I'm a big fan of the books but skipped the first movie for multiple reasons. This actually makes me want to see New Moon.

...Knowing myself though I'll probably wait till it's out on DVD. I go to a movie theater about twice a year...when someone else wants to go. The last movie I saw in the theaters was The Dark Knight with my brother.

I've read the first book and liked it but I have'nt had the time to read the rest of the series.
I've read some summarys for them though, and I guess I sort of spoiled myself and felt it sounded like a clichée-like continue, book 2,3 & 4.

Haven't seen the movies but new moons trailer REALLY got to me because of Jacob Black. What an awesome actor! Or, how hot is he!?
I guess I'll have to read/watch twilight now. Should I read book 2 properly before seeing the movie?

Flamesoul32 ~ The first movie was alright but it could have been better. I liked it enough but I never loved it, it took me watching it a few times for it to grow on me to the point that I like it enough to actually watch it for fun. The second movie fixes up a few mistakes from the first one too, it was like... so perfect for me. Not spot on to the actual book of course, but that would be boring. It was just... really obvious this director had respect for the series and it was really great.

Eleo ~ I don't think anything crucial from the second book was missing from the movie, so I think you'd be able to enjoy the movie as-is without being confused. The second movie also clarified a few things the first movie was SUPPOSED to and never did - another reason for the additional scenes they threw in. Anyway, the whole series is sort of cliched, but cliche isn't always bad if it's done in an enjoyable way - if you're reading for something to stimulate your mind, the Twilight Saga might not do that for you (though some things do, certain lines in it are just very well-written, and then others... XD) but to read something to enjoy and have fun with, it's great.

The actor who plays Jacob Black - Taylor Lautner - is about sixteen years old I think? And they wanted to recast him because they didn't think he could pull off the big bulky look Jacob is supposed to get in the second book as a werewolf. So, no word of a lie, the kid has a freaking EIGHT PACK now and is humongous, completely intense. His nose kind of bugs me when they show a side view though haha it does this weird curling thing XD it showed that in the first movie though, not this one I don't think.

Watching Twilight is different from the book but since you read the book, it should refresh your memory enough that it's not a big deal, haha.

Sounds great! I actually ended up discussing the twilight series with my boyfriends brother and came to the conclusion that the single most offputting thing about the series is the sparkling-in-the-sun part. It's just so... weird.
But I'll rent Twilight and go to the cinema for new moon next week I think! ^_^ Always gotta give things a chance or two.
And I agree that the literary quality is not super high but it is a VERY appealing way of writing and an enjoyable story.

...About half way though the first book I had completely forgotten about the "sparkling-in-the-sun part". Then I got reminded when someone I knew was talking about the first movie. I was actually confused when that person mentioned it.

Why do they Sparkle again? Also why does every person besides me seem to remember that very odd little detail?

The Twilight Series is something that you have to take for exactly what it is: a means of entertainment for people who are above being stupid enough to think that a guy sneaking in your window and watching you sleep would actually be "cute". In a book, sure - real life? Nuh-uh. It's got a lot of bad qualities to it that make people hate it but it wasn't wrote for people to just strike up a huge conversation on philosophy and like... the meaning of life. Purely for entertainment. Anyone who can just see that will enjoy it.

The sparkling thing was definitely weird but I didn't hate it, really - better than him bursting into flames and dying, I mean, the series would have been done pretty early on if that had been the case xD It's just another twist to the familiar stereotypical vampire things.

I don't think an explanation for them sparkling was ever given; Twilight basically makes vampires out to be very beautiful and elegant, whereas some vampire series would prefer to focus on their blood thirsty aspects. It makes the vampires out to be devastatingly beautiful, which is something that helps them get their prey. I guess because people like shiny things, that's why they sparkle? XD Totally kidding on that part, buuut it's just something to add to their being completely different from human. Steph wouldn't want them to die if they walked into the sun, so why not make them freaks?

Speaking of the sparkling in the sun bit, they fixed it up in New Moon: It's not as cheesy anymore! AND it doesn't have the annoying glitter sound effects in the background. That was so lame from the first one, haha.

I absolutely loved this movie. A lot better than Twilight. As has been said, the quality was a lot better and it just felt more like a real movie. I think part of why this movie is better than Twilight is the story is a bit faster paced and more interesting than Twilight's. It takes a good while for the action to pick up in Twilight whereas in New Moon, there's something exciting happening throughout the whole movie.

Despite the cliches and raging fangirls/fanboys, it really is a must-see. I used to hate the series before I gave it a chance because of the hype, but I won't make that mistake again---there's a reason so many people are going crazy over the series.

Same for me, hated it but now I love it. Although i like twilight better... i think it focuses too much on Jacob.... i dunno i still absolutley adore it.

Which team you guys on?

Team Edward Sailor_Star_Fighter_Transform or Team Jacob Sailor_Star_Maker_Transform ?

Sailor_Star_Fighter_Transform for me because i feel they are mean't to be together. I think Jacob is also a jerk........................

Oh gosh if you'd read the fourth book you wouldn't be asking the 'Edward or Jacob' question >_>

...But enough of that. Yeah, I've read them all and they are enjoyable, like a big burger. I laugh at some things, and sometimes it seems like a preteen's wet dream BUT it does have nice description in a sensual sort of way, even if it's innaccurate and... I could go on...

I'll try again. It's good as an indulgence, a very easy read and watch, so it is enjoyable, yes. I guess I just don't see how you could be a diehard fan UsagiLaugh But I guess that's probably because of how I define 'die-hard fans'.

You guys should check out "John Reviews Twilight/New Moon" on youtube. He basically describes the series as shallowly as possible, making it out like he hates it, and then towards the middle of the video he's like: but I LOVE this series!

Chains ~ It's just unexplainable. The fangirls and stuff do tend to get on your nerves, though, but frankly, I'm more annoyed by how incredibly immature the haters are in comparison. At times they are by far worse.

Yeah, Twilight was just the love story basically and a lot of the good stuff about that got taken out. The rest of the books are better in that sense.

MichiruKaiou ~ Team Edward; I hated Jacob throughout the books and it wasn't until the last one where there's a part that is in his perspective that I liked. (Getting the full essence of his personality was awesome. I love how the prologue for Jacob's part is like, "Life sucks and then you die. Yeah, I should be so lucky." because werewolves live a long time as well.)

Eve ~ That's probably a good idea, you won't have to deal with annoying people at the theater that way. We got lucky when I went - everyone was very mature.

Rumn_Snuffles ~ Well, you can still have a preference despite who she ends up with ;P And yeah, some of the diehard fans are incredibly... well... awful. It made me sick of the series for awhile. I'm not around so many now though so I can enjoy it.

I've heard the series described as Stephenie Meyer's "wet dream" haha because it came to her in a dream she had XD a tad awkward but there you go.

The movie had more action, it fixed a lot of the past movies mistakes, and it could pass as a real movie on it's own that I think even the haters can't say as much bad things as they did the first.

Haha, I meant that more in regards to who the guys end up with UsagiSneaky

But you're right about the haters... Sometimes they can be really witty and interesting and, you know, right, but sometimes they sink to a lower level than some hardcore Twilight fans... which is pretty hard to do.

Extremely hard. And when they're acting as bad as the people they're hating... it's just a tad on the ironic sidee.

I do think they'll like this one better, though; much more action, less "OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU!" moments.
