I actually wouldn't be opposed to them having their original outfits for the game in general. After thinking about it, I thought maybe in their past lives (and possibly the future, they wear their normal Sailor Soldier outfits (where they don't look unique) but in the present they have their original conceptual designs that I just showed you. The reasoning for this would be, quite simply, so that they can be unrecognized heroes. Which is why Sailor V wears a mask and her outfit is different from the others, to conceal her true identity as well as set her apart from the Sailor Soldiers as they awaken. In the past life 9and future) they wouldn't have needed to change their appearance. So I think that would make perfect sense, and both sets of outfits would still be used. There would be a few more issues to deal with, such as how do their outfits change for their "super" and "eternal" forms, but I'm sure we could find a solution. What is everyone's thoughts on this? |

That would be an interesting idea and you could solve the costume thing by doing what they did in the Sailor V manga. When Minako got her memories back she got her tiara and more well known Senshi suit. So you could make it when the rest figure Usagi's the Moon Princess (Wait, Darien's the Moon Princess?! No, Zoicite's Tuxedo Moon) they all change. In the manga and the anime (at least with ChibiMoon) usually a major event or revelation was the one that signal for their outfits to change, such as Usagi using the Holy Grail got them all heart broaches, and then again turned them into their Super Forms later with the longer bows. |

So you're saying that they should revert to their normal outfits (the ones they would have had hypothetically in the past life and future) when Usagi's identity is discovered? |

Basically, or when they recover the memories of their kingdom, which depending on the adaptation doesn't happen at the same time always. Or, if you want, you could just go with the PGSM concept of awakening the Senshi Power, and just make this the big turning point. But my point mainly is that all of their Senshi forms from the original concept would just be shawdows of their real identity, and once they connect with who they are in the past they can access it. Basically adding the concept of costume upgrading in the first arc. |

I do like that. And I'm sure some people wouldn't like the original concept costumes so it gives them peace of mind to know that they will have their recognized outfits for a majority of the experience. And I would still include those armors as secret/bonus armors, just 'cuz. |

I was gonna suggest either having them go back to normal for super, well, their normal super outfits I mean, or, like Artemis suggested, once the whole Princess thing is revealed. Thinking about it again now, I like the Princess idea better because it can be explained like their past is coming back to them rather than just changing from different costumes to a varied uniform when they go Super. |

The masks are cute, but I thinks Sailor Mars' is a little weird. The mask itself being a translucent grey, but the whites of her eyes beig pink... I didn't like the mask idea at first, but looking at the sprites, I've changed my mind! |

First I can say that the mask's look a lot better then I imagined. I still don't really like Venus but that's just because I never liked the bright red mask. Someone already beat me to my comment about Mars so I wont talk about that. I do like the idea of connecting it to their past lives and having the masked look still be an option after the story line deems it done. As I have said before options are one of the keys to having a widely appealing game and I 'm sure that the masked look will grow on a few people enough to want it for most of the game. As a note I love Jupiter's masked look.

...The original concept sprites made my pants shrink. They look AMAZING! I also really like the idea of their outfits reverting after knowing the Princess's identity. My question with that, though, is if that does anything about the problem you originally asked in this thread. Would they keep their unique masks even after reverting or are you just planning to stick with simpler appearance changes after they get their more well-known suits? |

Well before discussion about the masks, it was agreed that eye color/hair color (and length, and tiny bits of style) changes should be enough to make them realistically unrecognizable. It could also be a statement to the enemy that they're (in a way) no longer hiding quite as much. |

In the manga the goggles/mask however you see it have a purpose for sailor moon and we know that for mercury they can stay the visors, so maybe the Mask can have purposes? I mean, if I recall the menu options you have one where Sailor Moon "doll" that shows what you're Equipping, so maybe they won't use the mask all the time but they'll be useful or just for show. The identities seemed to be only an issue that has to do with the general public (their known to some media, through out the high schools, there's plushies of them), for the most part the Enemies in all arcs (except in the anime where they seemed to be have no idea who they were till they were caught) either knew who they were, or have some idea or just didn't care who the Senshi were in their civilian forms till they got in their way. My thoughts on the issue is that you should totally do what the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games are doing (Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 comes out Tuesday 15 for me! yay). One of the options of the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games is that you can choose alternate costumes for that character, there original costume, retro costume, modern costume, current costume, etc, and they will appear that way throughout the game. The plus side to doing this, is kinda like choosing your armor, on top of getting the bonus stats from the equipment, choosing the costume skin that you are currently using grants extra bonus augments/upgrades special only to that particular costume...for example lets just say sailor moon has four alternate costumes, sailor moon, super sailor moon, eternal sailor moon, and sailor cosmos. For instance... Sailor Moon costume can grant a special bonus of "extra experience points earned" if wearing it. Super Sailor Moon costume can grant maybe "attack/defense boosts". Eternal Sailor Moon costume can grant like "adds holy damage to regular attacks" Sailor Cosmos can grant bonus stats "energy/mana/hp boosts". So you can pick and choose what you want to wear for the occasion, and everything will have its uses, everyone just thinks eww i dont ever want to wear that ugly low level armor, but with special augments, they might want to use it for leveling up purposes or it might prove beneficial towards a particular boss, whatever, of course that only works if the equipment isn't already in charge in determining which outfit is being worn...in that case the idea is blown, but something to think about... so yeah...im totally getting marvel ultimate alliance 2 lol |
