Something I'm curious about. How much character development is too much? With Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon: The RPG I have the opportunity to take the story in any direction I wish, to develop a character however I please. And I want to answer a lot of questions that were left unanswered and fill in a lot of plot holes that were left uncovered. But how much is too much? A little ambiguity is fun. I just sometimes worry that I try to answer too much. For example, right now I'm debating how much to reveal about Beryl's human life in the present before she became Queen Beryl. I'm not going to give away her life story obviously but there are some things I thought up I'd like to touch on, and I've been pondering touching on some of it at the very beginning (taking place before the Dark Kingdom began its operations in the present of course) to allude to when more is revealed much later. Through out a few things to keep you thinking until much later when you understand the big picture of her story. But I dunno, I worry that I might be overdoing it. Some people might like not knowing her backstory as a human. I don't know. XD Your thoughts? |

there is no such thing like "too much" its like you would say "I've got too much money " or "This girl is just too pretty" ewentually " I am too inteligent :-)" In depth fabular knowledge will make game more interesting , i personally was sick and tired watching beryl in C series , constatly "playing with her ball:-) " she was just plainly boring , it changed at the end of the C but still we know nothing about her (decision about total destrucion must steam from something bigger than just "HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT ME BUUU!" after all beryl is a woman and not overeacted teenager . So the more the merrier if you have got good ideas about characters past/future life just incorporate them , it will make game just bigger and deeper . |

Well, if the backstory is interesting I don't think that it would be considered too much. is not like Beryl is some sort of one shot character. She's the main villian and out of all of them, she was the one less explored as far as motivation went, because in the first arc we just focused our attention on the Senshi discovering who they were, so it was like there was no time for the villian. We already know the story of the moon kingdom in its many forms. We know the princess is Usagi, we know that Metalia caused it all. so why not focused on the unexplored parts a bit more? Especially since Beryl's feelings is what triggered everything to happen? So really, I don't think it would be overdoing it to sudy the villians a lot more than they were in each of the other addaptations. |

I definitely support lots of character development. I'm looking forward to seeing your take on Beryl's past.

The more character development the better in my opinion. As for Beryl in particular I would say please add more development for her. It would be nice to see the reasons(in detail) of why she is the way she is.

Go for it! For me personally I really don't care whichever you choose. She is just going to die anyways. :/ |

I would like to see some Beryl development...like, anybody else remember when Beryl seemed to be having second thoughts about Metallia? I'd like to see that expanded. |

I know this is an older topic, but... I personally don't think that you can ever have too much character development, as others have said. However, leaving a little to the imagination is good. Things that can be assumed but are never really answered leave room for speculation, and I think that's one of the funnest parts of any story. In regards to Beryl specifically, I would absolutely love to hear more about her as a human, because her character isn't really one you see as much as the other characters, so there's very little room for her character to show any additional depth. Having more to go with in that regard would be great. |
