I'm sure you guys are tired of seeing different battle layouts by now, but I've come up with something I'm finally pretty happy with. It still needs a little tweaking but I'm really liking it. I wanted something a bit sleeker and more innovative. I'm probably going to add a few last touches, like putting something in the empty space where the Command menu comes up (Maybe a transparent crescent moon or something) and whatnot but other than that I think its pretty final. Ignore the background, sprites, and enemy, while most of the sprites are final, the background is not and Mercury's sprite is old, just a heads up. Without further ado, here is the current layout:![]() ![]() What's different from the last version is instead of an hour glass, each character box has something that looks reminiscent of Usagi's first brooch which I call a "Time Wheel." Depending on the character's speed, their Time Wheel goes through five stages, the fifth allowing that character to act. Same principle essentially just a different look. I like it, myself. Hopefully you guys do too. Same principle applies when multiple characters can act. By pressing left and right, you will scroll through available characters. You'll notice in the second image a white bar is around Sailor Moon's character box. This indicates that she is selected. If another character could act, you would be able to press left and go to that character. Along with the white line around the character box, I'm thinking that the character's sprite on the battlefield will also flash to let you know who you're selecting a command for. The help bar is primarily there to give you information on Items and Techs when you're looking through the menus. It will also display a Tech or Item name when they're used. I also did away with icons for the Command menu. I think a more simple design looks better. As always, let me know what you think! I look forward to your responses! The old version for comparison: 1. ![]() 2. ![]() On a side note, as has been said before, the new website is under way, and I've nearly finished preparing the new skin for the forum. Upon the site launch there's going to be a pretty big number of new screenshots, artwork, and music clips so definitely be looking forward to that! As promised, I'm probably going to be showing you a small glimpse of those updates while the site is being finished up. |

I like it. The only problem I have with it is I think there should be a background for the command menu. It would make the commands standout more. Plus I think having the ground next to all there portraits looks really odd. I certainly have to say that I like the brooch more then the hourglass...if only because the hourglass is generic and the brooch looks really nice. Probably my favorite parts of this layout would be the beautiful portraits and really nice font for their names. No matter what anyone says that is perfect. Last thing to say...yay help box? Always a good thing to have. Great layout Chains and I hope my observations helped a bit.

What is it about the hourglass version that you guys like more? I can easily replace the Time Wheel/brooch with the hourglass if that's the main problem. And I'm definitely going to be adding something behind the command menu because the empty space does in fact look strange. Also Kikia, it'll be obvious who's turn it is because as I said, the active character sprite will be flashing. I can also readd the whole eyes open and closed thing to further show you who's active and who's not. |

I agree with readding the whole eyes open and closed thing. I thought that was a nice unique idea. |

I think with the old battle system menu layout, the hourglass could be switched with the brooch, which is more original. I meant in my other post that I like the version with the hourglass, but the hourglass could be changed to a brooch. I wouldn't mind. |

I definately like this over the hour glass thing. It was generic and this one's colorful. It would be cool to see the eye close thing idea with this one, but this is way better designed than the previous one. I really like it and it seems a lot more easier to use this way. |

I really like the new layout. There's only a thing that bother me, the command layout is way too big... I would love more free hair for the battlefield. Also, please Chain, avoid that flashy character thing. XD An icon over their heads should be fine. Anyway, the brooch thing is great and different, great job as usually! |

Personally, I do like the brooch icon over the hourglass. What bugs me about this, and this is going to sound really nit-picky, but it's a uh... pet peeve? That's not exactly the word that I'm looking for but something similar. It really bugs me when you press L/R it is actually moving up/down. I liked that the other one didn't have that problem, and it had a bigger display. I agree with Cloud on the flashing though, flashing sprites are kind of annoying, to me anyways. |

I love it! I would also prefer and arrow or something over the character, as opposed to the flashing sprite, but it's still a really lovely layout! I think that re-adding the eyes opening would be really nice; it's a wonderfully unique idea, and it's really pretty! =] |

I perfer the hourglass aswell. The main point people are trying to state is that the hourglass is too generic. I think you could jewel-up the hourglass and make it more Sailor Moon-ish if in fact you were to use it. Either way though, the battle system looks great and I can't wait for more.

I really prefer the new version! Don't make any hasty desicions now, make a poll later on. I think the new version looks more proffessional and serious. I like <3 |

You know what. I actually think I change my mind. I like the "time wheel" better. |
