Funimation asks for redub of Sailor Moon?

A repost by DranzerX13 of the Himura-Kaoru.com forums:

On May 20, 2009, Funimation's Blog The Funimation Update posted a survey asking for fan inputs about new series in Japan. One of these options is a possible redub of Sailor Moon. Fans, please VOTE SAILOR MOON. if enough people vote for it, then they'll consider doing a re-dub.

Fans, I also encourage you to write a good comment in the comments part of the survey. Be very nice and write in detail why you want Sailor Moon to be re-dubbed. They are more likely to listen to well written comments rather than short comments like "I love Sailor Moon, please bring it back." A higher up at Funimation could read that and say "Ok, we know you love Sailor Moon, but why do you want it back?

The Funimation survey can be found here:
http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/?p=WEB2296BDH59FM

PLZ VOTE SAILOR MOON and write in detail why you want it back. the more of those they see, the more likely they'll get it.

---------------

SPREAD THE WORD!!!

How exciting! I voted and this was my comment:

"Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon is a brilliant and revolutionary series that was not properly dubbed the first time it came to America. I think it is overdue for an accurate and uncut redubbing so that people can see the show how it was meant to be seen."

This is a chance for it to be dubbed right. : 3 Either way, it's an opportunity to bring Sailor Moon back here and I think we should do what we can to ensure that happens.

I actually just found out about this on GaiaOnline and from the sounds of it, they've officially announced it'll be re-airing in Japan again and I just filled out the survey now. (It was still open :P)

I think it would be very exciting for them to re-dub it. It'll probably never come completely uncut - why bother if they can just release the original with sub-titles? :/ But they can give the dub a better name than it's seem to have had amongst a lot of people. I think it'd be really exciting to see it back :)

I was hoping that the redub would bring about and R2 quality R1 release. That would be epic. SaturnWin

I wish they'd just remake the series like they're going to do with DBZ. I'd like some less helpless sailor SOLDIERS, kthx.

If I wanted to see so many pussies fight I'd just watch Luna.

I second that UsagiLaugh .

I'm hoping maybe if they re-broadcast Sailor Moon, they'll touch up the artwork.

From what I heard they're only planning on just re-dubbing the voices/translation and music, not re-animating anything, so I'm not sure exactly what will be done with it, but it's still a start in the right direction.

However, if enough people show interest in it at all, they might be willing to put the money into re-doing it more completely. It would take a LOT of fans to get them to be interested, I think, but it's still a possibility. Right now I feel they're looking at it as a small to medium fan-base that'll appreciate the re-dubbing for kicks, and they don't want to put too much money into the show itself in case it's a flop.

I think if they have the rights to the show at all, they should start re-airing it here too to build up the hype about it again and gain new fans, before re-dubbing it. Buuuut who knows if that would be possible.

The only merchandise I have is a Sailor Moon doll XD I got it from a friend yeaaaaars back when I got re-obsessed with the series. The only places I could actually buy it at would be in like.. Toronto or something (three hours away o.O) and at the time I never would get anything off the net xP

I don't know what that means... LunaDown
R2 means Region 2, which is a region lock on the DVDs. It is to prevent people from importing DVDs before they are released in their respective countries. Region 2 is Europe and part of Asia. The quality of the Japanese DVDs surpasses the R1 DVDs and is remastered. I hope they if they release new Sailor Moon DVDs over here they would be remastered.
