I just finished reading the first arc (Dark Kingdom) of the manga. (Had to deal with the crappy Mixx/Chixx/Tokyo Pop version due to the lack of a complete rerelease scanlation). It...wow. It's a lot more emotional, and quite frankly, makes a heck of a lot more sense! (no plotholes, woohoo!) I've just gotten into the second arc (Black Moon) and Chibi-Usa (They're probably going to call her Rini due to the usage of dub names...) has just appeared. Holy cow! She looks like Usagi like nobodies business! I mean, in the anime, even if you didn't take coloring into account, they didn't look all that much alike. But they really are similar in appearance in the manga! Amazingly so! Anyways, I'm going back to the make-do version of the manga now. I can't wait until the scanlation of the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Japanese rerelease is done! So I don't have to deal with name changes and poor translation anymore. |

I planned on posting when I finished the "Black Moon" Arc, but I made a discovery that I have to post here. People who have not read the manga may not want to contiune reading. This is a pretty major spoiler. The origins of the Black Moon make SO MUCH MORE SENSE! In the anime, the supposedly peaceful Serenity and Endymion banished people because they refused to be "purified". All I could think when I heard that was: Um, so anybody who didn't accept being put in a monarchy and didn't like the idea of being "altered" (which is what many people would consider purification) were banished? That seems a little unfair. I decided I would have probably been one of the exiled ones based on the anime canon. And I didn't like it. But in the manga, (I have just finished the first King Endymion encounter) they are apparently descended from and/or under some kind of manipulation from a dangerous exiled criminal! That just makes so much more sense and I have less of a problem with the "methods" used by Serenity and Endymion! Were they trying to make the Black Moon Clan seem more likeable in the anime? I don't know, but I'm glad for this much better version of what happened. I do hope the manga version is what is included in the game! I am LOVING the lack of plotholes present in the manga! P.S. I already knew that people weren't sealed away for close to a millenia like in the anime. That's one of the most well-known changes of the anime. |

Yeah, the manga is tenfold better than the anime (IMO, anyways). Even with the English translation. Though I'd stick with that over a fan translation anyways, if only because some free translators are frustratingly lazy. |

The manga is first and foremost the biggest influence on how I'm writing the story for the game. I agree about the lack of plotholes, and just an overall better and more epic/dramatic plot. Most people don't know that the Black Moon clan members were actually citizens of Crystal Tokyo that were persuaded by Wise Man to go to Nemesis and take advantage of the Black Crystal. They descend from criminals, or "Traitors" as King Endymion calls them. I'm really doing a lot with their backstories, hopefully people will appreciate what I've come up with. It gives them true motivation and I still think people will feel sorry for them when they hear their side of the story. |

Makes you remember stuff like this: "There is no good or evil in war...only bloodshed and the wailing of families who have lost loved ones" |

I like the fact that the antagonists actually get to be evil. I mean, they made the Black Moon clan TOO pitiable in the anime. I can understand SOME of their motivations... the anime overdid the "purifying/saving" aspect of the show. It made it far less dramatic when the bad guys were heavily misguided rather than slightly so, and usually "repented" in the end. |

The whole thing about being "pure" in the anime was what got me crazy. The manga felt more realistic anyway and you knew they wanted blood. You know they wanted to destroy the present as you know it. That was evil. |

I read the first manga on a site I found that had a BUTT LOAD of mangas on the site and Sailor Moon was one of them. First time I read a Sailor Moon manga and I liked what I've read so far. Even though it was just the first one. Dark Kingdom are my favorite villains in the series followed by The Black Moon. |
