BATTLE SYSTEM MOCKUP!; Opinions needed!

Since I'm not an RPG expert, my husband is and I asked him to review over the mockup and give you some C&C.

His comments:
- It seems like the system you're using is very similar to Crono Trigger, which is a good thing because I think the CT combat system rocked! Clarification: are the characters and enemies able to move around the combat area like in CT? If so, that will add more tactics in choosing the right attack in the right enemy formation. If not, I'm not blaming you because that sounds EXTREMELY complex to code. ^_^;

- As for icons, you could try using the Sailor Senshi's symbol as it will take up less room and you could put it in the top right hand corner of the window to allow more room for the statistics. Else, you could try the symbol and color of the Senshi in the background of the window and have the information on top. Just a couple of ideas for you. ^^

- Since the Senshi have elemental based attacks, will there be an element system where fire is strong against ice (for example)? That could lead to quick battles with the right selection or long battles with a poor selection of team members.

His critiques:
- Will you consider the option of a somewhat turn-based system, for example: the enemy's will only attack once between your attacks (or whatever metrics you've decided to use), much like the option in Crono Trigger?
- I do believe that the portrait pictures don't lend a lot of information to the menu system for the space they take up. I believe it could be better used for more information or a larger combat area.

----
Hope they have helped you and he'll be looking forward to the game as well. ^^

I can see you guys didn't look through the rest of the topic. ^^;

It's been modified quite a bit since my first post, this being the latest mockup:

(Another team member did this mockup, and the only thing that will be different is the Venus' box shouldn't be blacked out, and icons will only appear for the character you're controlling, and you'll switch through characters that have their bars full by pressing up and down.

This and the rest you can find throughout the topic. The main thing being that the faces will change depending on whether the character is active and what status effects are on them.

Goodness, I only saw 1 page full of comments when I had hit the 'reply' button. Guess I left it there for too long. Sorry! ^^;

Well, I have to say that I really love the background, is it from the your chrono cross game, Chains? :)
Will the official backgrounds be similar to this one? I'm talking about the style. Just love it.

That background is a default RPG Maker XP background. XD

The battle backgrounds in the game will be sprited maps, just like in PSSM: AS.

I have to say that I really love how the bars and portraits are showed here:

Maybe because there isn't a real background for the stats.... it's transparent. don't know.

Those "spheres" are a nice touch too...

P.s. I had another idea regarding the eyes of the portraits, I think they should blink and change their style from a "relaxed" look to an "hungry" look when an action is selected.
