Well, if you have to actually press a button to select a character and then that button again to select the action, and another button would be used to go back, then both could be Left and Right. I think Left and Right would make more sense too, seeing as the icons are horizontal, appearing above the character box.

I think I mixed horizontal and vertical up in my last post... x.x

You got me all confuzzled, sugah. I think I get what you're saying, however with the active-time battle system it'd be more efficient to have quicker commands then have to highlight, and then select and scroll. Right?

I think that would look nice, I'm sure Kairose can do that. I was already planning on having bars appear above the enemies heads once they were scanned. ^^

I'm confident that I could code any of the things discussed in this thread, or at least find scripts made by others for free use, for anything that Chains decides is nessecary for the game.

For the HP/MP bars, I've seen many variations, with a few different types of bars. My personal favorite is the ones in the menu screenshot below.

Also, I'm not 100% sure, but I may be able to code the place for the images so that they will be greyed out automatically when nessecary, which will cut down on image-making and the size of the game when it's released.

Love the bars of that picture, the colour shade is also very cool, I think it would be cool to have the mp bars that match the senshi's colours too. Example... Pluto/black, Mercury/light blue and so on.
The hp colour could be a light pink for all of them. Just an idea...

I also think that the status windows need bigger lines (like the grey one you can see in the picture posted by Kairose.

Another suggestion...I think the icons menu should only appear when the senshi is selected...I'm referring to lyndii's picture, that space can be filled with a rectangle that show the senshi's element till the senshi is selected....what do you think guys?ArtemisSit

Also....the status effect will be highlighted by the senshi's portrait and this is cool, but I think the sprite should show the status too.

I already suggested that the icons don't appear when a party member isn't chosen, but I think that we should just show more of the map, not their element. Mainly because it's to conserve a little more space and some of the Soldiers have more than one element. It's just not really necessary. ^^;

I think the bars thing is a neat idea, I don't see where that'd be a problem.

Don't worry, the status boxes will have better outlines, as I said, everything right now is just a mockup. The final interface will be much better looking.

Sprites will also show status effects. ^^ We were just pondering how they could also be shown on the portraits.

I think it might look better if instead of using the brooch as a cursor the outline of the selected square should flash/blink. =3

Jupiter won't be posing like that as her static battle pose, as I said, I had limited resources when I made the mockup. ^^;

Oh, I see which post you were talking about. Well, the portraits are based on manga artbook pictures, and that's just how Jupiter's is posed. It's different but I think that's a good thing so they don't all look similar.

Sorry to confuse you. x.x I see your point though, that would make sense. In which case I think it would be better if Up/Down were used for character selection, and Left/Right for action selection, or vice-versa, rather than having to scroll all the way through 4 actions to get to a seperate character. n.n;;

But seriously, this is looking quite well and detailed and can't wait till you can give up a real demo pic of how it will come out in the end.

I think the only problem with Jupiter's portrait is the eyelash showing from the other side of her face...
Apart from that it all looks fantastic!!
I squealed a little inside when I saw it...
