Hey man, I shot an email your way about 2 weeks ago, regarding Makoto Kino's theme you still hadn't responded, so I thought I'd come looking for you. |

This seems to be a more reliable form of communication for right now, so if it's not a problem, I'll just keep you updated via this topic. Basically all the email said is that I was getting close to completion of the song. I haven't made any progress since I sent, because I wasn't sure of our relationship status, but if you haven't already gotten another song for the part, I'll continue to work right away. |

Well overcoat, I don't think you've got any reason to recognize my username, unless you've come across one of my forum topics posted on ocremix. But I definitely know who you are, I recognize you from the cave story remix project. H20 was brilliant. After I pump this one out I'd love to get your input, maybe an opinion on how it could be improved. I'm still a relative novice. Thank you again for the opportunity chains. I'll keep you posted. |

Yeah, I'd certainly appreciate it, as I'm still a relative noob.
:P I've been sort of busy lately, with school and such, but I've found some time to day to work on it, I'm having a bit of trouble getting it to sound the way I want it to, but I'm making some steady progress I'd say. By the way overcoat, what kind of equipment do you use, I'm looking into buying some stuff that's more functional than my keyboard and mouse. They tend to be extremely tedious.

You're right, having to use a mouse with your DAW totally sucks. That's why I use trackers like Renoise because you don't need a mouse for EVERYTHING [and it is actually faster this way. Hotkeys, baby!]. But even if you're using something like FL Studio, having the ability to actually play the music with an instrument will make projects way easier and way faster to finish. Also, as for my equipment: I scored an Ensoniq ESQ-1 for 40 bucks several years ago and it doubles as a [fantastic] mid-'80s digital-analog synthesizer and an okay MIDI controller. I would recommend either getting something like that [old synth with MIDI capabilities] or a new keyboard where it's just a midi controller, and they'll usually have knobs and buttons that you can map to do stuff in your projects. Either option is cool, it just depends on what you need personally. |

Either of those sounds like a God send to be honest. I just spent about two hours working on the project, I all I got out of it was a heaping mound of frustration Feel free to give to the "Makoto Kino's" theme away to another composer. I'll leave it laying around, so I can eventually come back to it. When that time comes, you may be able use it for something else, but I probably wont touch it until I've got the money for a keyboard that will greatly speed up the process. I do have another song in mind, that's quite a bit easier to create with the resources I have, it sounds very much like some sort of battle theme, or an action sequence. So far it's dramatic, sinister, and ironically much easier to play with. I'll probably work on this one from this point on, if you like it, you can use it, if not, I'll get out of your hair :P |

bummer, dude! What software are you using anyway? I might be able to help you out if it's either Reaper or FL Studio. |
