Good places to advertise the game; Does anyone know of many?

There are a few Sailor Moon forums I post at, but I was wondering if other people know places that would be good to advertise the game in hopes of adding a lot more activity to this place.

I'm going to try to get lots of new eye candy and things up soon, but does anyone have a good idea on how to get more people to come here? What kinds of things do people want to see besides something playable?

It's extremely important to me that everyone gets what they want out of the game and it's pleasing to the fans, so I need their input!

Places I've already advertised:

The Oracle Forums
Genvid Forums
Moon Princess.net Forums
RPG Maker XP.org Forums

A few others...

It involves a Yahoo ID and a lot of time, but going on to Yahoo groups and searching Sailor Moon RPG and just joining each group and making a post about this. Just make sure to check the groups rules first to see if "spamming" is against their group policy. This of course only matters if the Yahoo group has been active in the last month. Either way, however, I say you should post a message. You can also search 'RPG Advertising' for groups devoted to advertising your groups while on Yahoo. I think that's a great way to go about recruiting members.

being a Deviant myself, I would suggest using DA since there is many moonies on there already. Perhaps create a user page with some promo art (with a "Want more info? Join forums!" on each of them) and join some SM clubs to spread the word.

SA is also good, being a DA clone, because it actually has club pages that you can upload your art to. Usagi_Yay

I've already promoted things in the real world with the club. The moonie fan base is low there, but many of them lurk on these forums and are waiting for the game to be released.

If you want, you can advertise on 4chan for a few days to spread the word to a really large fan base, but you run a big risk of dangerous people migrating here.

I'm also a goon, but I run a big risk of public ridicule on the internet by my fellow goons for months or maybe even years. Also, there a lot of bad elements there.

Going on a bunch of RP forums and advertising would yield some good results I think, but I would feel bad for not participating on there forums as well. I don't have time for that though.

Going on forums for the fansub groups may reach moonies in more remote parts of the interweb. You can also advertise on their IRC.

There are lots of places to advertise, the question is how dedicated you want to be about it. Advertising on all these sites would be impossible for one human being.

I suggest you recruit a P.R. department if you want to hit all these sites without killing yourself(I doubt we would hit them all even with the whole community working at it though)

It's all the more reason it shouldn't be promoted there. It's like bringing a roach into the house....and then in a week you see 10 roaches. Next week...100. The next...100,000.

And the last thing I need in this place in one of those jackasses in here trying to destory this place and crapping all over this game and it's fans. The iusses I have been in this place is nothing compared to what they'll do!

Thanks for the suggestions. ^^

Don't worry, I won't advertise anywhere where a bunch of punks might be tempted to come and spam.

The reason I ask for places is because I have a big update planned. ^__~ Hopefully soon I'll have enough to intrigue some possible future team members.

I like the roach analogy. I only mentioned 4chan as to not exclude any possibility.

The goons finding out wouldn't actually be that bad for the site as most of them are polite outside of our own realm. In place of you suffering, I would be facing ridicule in that place. Not pretty in a forum that has no rules and has millions of members. You would get a lot of advertisement though.

Your best bet is the fansub groups as far as the least amount of commitment necessary on your part. Also, a lot of them have pretty large forum homes. You can track forum sites by going to any tracker for episode releases and clicking on the links. Easy and reaches thousands after about 10-20 sites depending on which ones you hit. I suggest you make a message and then copy paste it on all of them to make this fast.

I didn't mention it earlier, but youtube is also a viable option if you make a promotional video. It requires more work, though.

Some things to think about after the release:

There will be much less chance of ridicule on 4chan and with the goons. There is a big difference between saying you're working on something and that you've made something to these people. PR pssibilties go up and you may get some word of mouth type advertising by people who have played the game.

If you can, release the game in different languages(You might find help on these very forums for that. Who knows?) Doing that will allow you to advertise even more globally than before. Also, try to get the japanese otaku in on it. They'll do all the work for you as far as directing people to your site. 2chan is what you're aiming for. It would also be a good idea to help them make a japanese language version of the game to spike your popularity.

Well, this is all for globalization. You may not actually get this far. With the right strategy though, it's not too hard to make you the most popular Doujin game creator of the day. From there, you will have no problems recruiting people to help you on future projects and you could also easily establish an organization similar to Typemoon(They made fate/stay night and tsukihime). Depends on how far you are willing to take it.

Bwahahahaha. You forget my dear Squirrel that I was the president two times running for my club. My organizational skills are quite good and I can tell you that the best results are obtained when you treat the thing as business.

Of course, if we really wanted to make money, we'd have to get Chains to create an original game to call his own. After that, it's just marketing and advertisement with some prudent management of funds. If it gets that far, I'd be honored if Chains visited the First Bank of Magehammer for his start up money. I'll deal with that if it arises.
