To call their project a joke after all the effort that they've put into making it is incredibly rude and totally uncalled for. Jason, I'd like to audition for a VA but I couldn't really find anything on the site. How would I go about doing it? |

You can roll your eyes all you want, but this is for fun, yet you /still/ don't get that through your head. And to answer your question, yes we still think it sounds very odd when they use Japanese names. Have you listened to the dub of .Hack//roots? They say the name like its poison to their lips or something. Our vocal cast ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS, these are people who just want to have fun, or build up their experience. Why should they have to have every skill a professional does? I don't think you understand we already have the first episode out, and many viewers, so maybe you better get some facts straight before harassing us and our fan project? You can be as rude as you want, but this project is not going away until its over, and even then we'll probably do other projects with each other, so you can have fun trying to tell us were going to fail for a long long time. ALRIGHT, now to daio, sorry you had to read through all that part up here for your answer There is information on the forum, but your best bet is just to e-mail smu@la-densetsu.net and ask for instructions. What really is needed is just some recorded lines of any character from sailor moon (Men and women can use both genders lines), and try to find one sad line, one happy line, one angry line, and then record your normal speaking voice. In your e-mail you can ask for a character you like, and if your voice fits that character, then you'll get it. ^_^ But if that character is already taken, then we'll find you a character that fits your voice. Hope your all having a good day Jason Wright |

Er... first of all, REAL vocal actors/actresses go through training for each series and learn as a group how to pronounce names and what the general terms of the series are. Secondly, you're referencing NEW Anime that actually use the Japanese terms. Sailor Moon wasn't the case, and it never was in English. We are trying to be consistent about the usage of the names, and that's what you're not listening to. This is not about us pronouncing anything. We WANT to use the English names and we ARE using them. If you can't live that that, then unfortunately you should not watch our series. As far as your opinion about our project goes, I KNOW you have not seen it just from how you've typed so far, and if that is the case, you have no right to judge us and decide how others will. And I wish I could say I valued your opinion, but it has been said twice now: YOU HATE OUR SERIES BECAUSE OF THE CHARACTER NAMES. |

Alrighty, I know I'm a bit late, but..Do you realize how much of a big deal you're making over names? I bet when you first watched Sailor Moon, you probably didn't care about the dubbed names.. I bet you didn't even see THE ORIGINAL version when the dub first came out (remember, it was 1993). You were probably as shocked as I was when you learned how much they editted the series, and the names were the last thing you really cared about. Of course, many people hate the names now because they're a symbol of the slashcuts that DiC and Cloverway made. But that gives no one the right to shoot down a fan series simply for using those, when they are the official English names given and we're using them for consistancy. Really, you're coming off as very ridiculous. Our voice actors aren't professional, but they sound great with the parts they have. Our animation team is really getting good with cutouts (there's a scene where SOMEONE from a completely different season is in Dr. Tomoe's lab, and it's amazing). Watch the first episode before you continue this conversation. It's the least you could do.

Geez, I wasn't expecting my thread on a good fan project to turn into a flame war, but rather a discussion on how creative these people are! I think they're doing a great job...with PGSM ending, the anime having run its course, and Seramyu on hiatus, its just refreshing to see something new for Sailor Moon, even if just a fan project! I was surprise that some people on this forum would be so critical towards SMU, since PSSM the RPG is also a fan project. We should be happy as fans that other fans would take their time and work hard on something for we to enjoy! But I would like to say to the developers, that whether your decision is agreeable to the majority of your fans or to the minority of your fans, you will never please everyone! Even with PSSM The RPG, some people like the weapons idea, some dont, some want this, some want that, you wont please everyone, so dont try and dont feel bad that you wont! |

1) Most of us never saw the orignal version when the dub first came out. You'll have to forgive me for being much younger in those days and not having access to orignal japanese anime at the time. When I first heard about PSSM through the dub...I like most people bashed it and made fun of it. I didn't start taking a slight interest in PSSM until that one day in 2000 where I had the TV muted and didn't realize I had it on. But by the time that happened...I was beginning to learn about the orignal version and that the S season was dubbed by a different company..and that last part right there made me courius enough to see it. After a few episodes of the S season in english...it was clear to me that this was no better than DiC's. Even poor Super Sailor Moon had her attack fudged up. Wow Linda Ballantyne, you sure made that attack sound very fearful. *rolleyes* The day I finally saw the orignal version was in august of 2001...and I never looked back since. But thanks to you, I'm offically re-doing my plan for re-dubbing PSSM's english dub...well actually it's more than just re-dubbing, but nontheless. Hopefully I start on it today or tommorrow. And once I'm done with it and posted it here....ether you'll agree with the plan, or disagree with the plan. |

THANK YOU! And you know what's sad? Not many people realize that. There are many ways we can take this series, but it turns out that not many people trust us to do it, such as what Squirrel3D is demonstrating. |

Squirrels3D, I know your trying your best to change our minds but, WE WON'T. This is OUR project not yours. We will not change things just because a few people flame us and, no matter what you say we won't change our stance on the issue. In the end, your flaming us over NAMES. It's just names. Also, try listning to a fandub of Sailor Moon that uses japanese names. They stick out and mess up the flow of the dialog. And to say that we will fail is just mean. We all work very hard and saying that we'll fail is like saying that your re-dub idea will just be disregarded. We're all intitled to our opinions but, yelling doesnt solve anything. |

So to boil this down to a simple few ideas so that we can get back to the GOOD parts of conversations... Squirrel, NO ONE cares what you think about this idea because you have a NAME hang up. If you think you can do better, I god NEGAVERSE FLUNKY implore you to do it and hope that you succeed just as much as these people are. Get your facts straight, get them backed up, and stop acting like a 12 year-old fan girl who refuses to believe Lance Bass is gay. As to the Sailor Moon Season 6 people, GOOD JOB! If I had a mic, I would ask to try out to be a VA, but alas I do not. I cannot wait to see more! I'm excited for this project!!

Thanks. ^_^ If you're an artist that can draw on the computer, or even hand drawings and scan them, then you could help us out a bit. Otherwise, audition when and if you can because we always need voices for those good old monsters. |

Sadly I cannot draw... but could you perhaps send me a PM about needed voice so that I can decide whether or not I want to buy a mic. (It'll give me an excuse to spend the money... haha)

Ok, the thing about Japanese names interrupting the flow of dialogue-- Is that just for Sailor Moon, or is it for ALL anime? If it's for all anime, I disagree. I mean, listen to FLCL, Dragon Ball Z, Blood+, Bleach, or even Naruto(God forbid). Should they rename Haruko as Harrietta? Goku as Gavin? Or Saya as Samantha? Orihime as Olivia? Or Naruto as Nathan? All to make the dialogue flow? The thing is, Asian-sounding names sound exotic to us. If they renamed Naruto as "Nathan", then no one would watch the show. I mean, who would watch a show called "Nathan"? Thr oriental names entice us, and we wonder, "What does it mean?", or, "Oooooh, that's pretty-sounding". I respect the fact that it's their project, and quite frankly I don't mind the dub names at all(Except Amy Anderson. Amy Mizuno FTW!), but I'm not disputing over Sailor Moon anymore-- I'm disputing over anime in general. But, my point is moot if they just ment Sailor Moon, in which case I'd still have to disagree-- I mean, you can make anything flow with the dialogue if you try. But I digress... EDIT: Now, honorifics are another thing... FLCL's dub used honorifics, and that sounded awkward. |

^_^ We moved off that topic already, so I don't think its really necessary to bring it back. ![]() EDIT: PushingOBorders, if you wanna just e-mail smu@la-densetsu.net and Shiaedoeu can give you better information than I could, he's gone today, but should be back tomorrow. |
