I wanted to see what your opinion was on this. Random, right? I was looking on youtube yesterday looking up some Moonie goodies and I heard alot of people talk about the dub and original version of Sailor Moon. Most of them were arguing about the music in the series. Saying that the American version is crappy and saying that it should have kept the original music from the Japanese version. Here are some examples: Sailor Moon Transformation: Moon Prism Power & Moon Crystal Power Original - Prism Original - Crystal Dub - Prism Dub - Crystal Sailor Moon Theme Song Original Dub *EXTRA* Korean Personally, I like the DIC music better. I guess because I grew up with that version instead of the original one. But I do like the original music, when Pioneer took over dubbing the R or Super S series, one of those, they went back to the orginal music instead of the American adapted one, except for the Theme song. I didn't really like the original music from the 1st season :/ Only problem I had with DIC was... All 5 scouts Transform Super Moon & Chibi Transform DiC-dub 4 Inners-DiC dub (Hearts In Ice movie transformation) uhhh yeah. It got really repetative an annoying. DIC wore it out. But now I'm back in love with it^^ |

The Dutch opening I kinda like the Dutch opening. (It's the same as the German one, only in Dutch.) |

I go with the superior, orignal music. Becuase let's face it, despite what you'll respond with...there's no denying that the dub music makes you embaressed and insulted and attacked, rightfully so, by true anime fans. Face facts, 99.9% of it is an insult to anime fans. Let's see the destroyers of the anime in this country try to riun a song from the muscials, like "sailor busters". Here's what Sailor Capella would say: Dub music? You mean that corny, god awful s--- that those poor american PSSM fans had to put up with? The orignal music shows that you can't mess with a good thing. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But oh no, DiC had to smear the image of my princess WITH THIS FU----- ABOMINATION OF MUSIC!! .....don't look at me. The soldier of sand said it.

In the American dub they tried to make the music more modern to fit in and I think they did a good job. Most of the vocal songs are god awful, but we have to face it, as cool as the Japanese songs are, the lyrics are kind of odd.

Not odd if you know the japanese language, or was born in the country. I believe most sailor moon fans don't have to face it, when they can get superoir SM music from the game your developing anyway!! |

I believe that 'My Only Love' is actually well received in the Sailor Moon community. It fit with the scene and some have gone as far as saying it's better than 'Maboroshi no Ginzuishou'. I'm on the fence regarding the music. Some dub music is better than the japanese music, in other areas the reverse is true. |

I have to admit I really like My Only Love. There's a remix of it that came out with the only American BGM soundtrack released that's pretty neat as well. It's mainly the theme song that bugs me. ![]() I didn't say the lyrics were odd to the Japanese community, of course not, to us they would have been, which is why in the english dub lyrics were changed. If I had listened to the Moonlight Densetsu with english lyrics I wouldn't have really understood the song as a child. |

ORIGINAL!!! I like some english themes, but the original ones are far better, the english dub even changed the henshins sounds effects (or cut them away), etc, awful....

I think I prefer the original OP the best. I dunno why DIC [lol dick lol] decided to throw in that Kidsongs bunch. Once they get to the part where they list off the Sailor Scouts I'm thinking violent thoughts. |

I would say I prefer the dub music in some instances and the original in other instances. For example I also love "My Only Love." And I honestly can't stand them chanting the vocals of the henshins and stuff chanting the girls names over and over again. Even though oddly my favorite dub song is the first opening for the German Sailor Moon dub. I just love listening to it. |

I am a dub and sub girl and I love dub music and original music! I understand enough spoken japanese to sing along to it all so it rocks my socks! I think a few people are up tight about it. And if you ever want to doubt what we did to the show go to you tube search Sailor Moon English Live Action and try NOT to laugh or be in complete shock over it! |

I like the original music the best, but I still enjoy the different dub soundtracks... thing is, I'll rather listen to those songs from a CD than in the actual anime. I like the japanese lyrics... and lets all just remember that this was never supposed to be a show for kiddos, even if it went that way in all of the "western world" I guess. So... well.. yeah. |

I guess I'm not a true anime fan. >_> I love the DiC background music and songs (especially the one that plays during the final fight with Beryl), heck I might even prefer. I also really like the original Japanese music. Gotta love the original transformation and battle music, though. |

Don't make me choose. I like them both (And I have most of the albums except for the Full Moon Collection BGM) and I got all of the tracks I have off SailorMusic.net. To be honest, the only one which has eluded me that I am after is the dub theme for Tuxedo Mask. Well, if you have a collection, you might as well complete it, and the rest of FMC I have (Due to it including songs from the two other dub albums) |
