1) I'd rather read subtitles than sit through terrible editing and disrespect of Miss Naoko's masterpiece. The orignal all the way!! 14 (77.8%)
2) I'm not reading subtitles...so I'm watching the dub! 2 (11.1%)
3) Nether, I'd rather watch PGSM or read the manga! 2 (11.1%)

Come on....be honest.....how did you get into PSSM? Before getting into it, I bashed it when I was younger. I was led to believe "oh it's just some corny cartoon about girls and stupid little wands and stuff". But one freaking day in 2000....I just decided to watch an episode on cartoon network. Yes, unfortently it started through that.

But yeah, after seeing an S episode...I was interested. Then I kept watching it during the SuperS storyline. But thanks to the power of the internet.....boy was I fooled by the english dub. I discovered the things I was deprived of, and even discovered why this show was given a horrible reputation in this country.

And so, I saw the orignal...and was blown away by how much damage this classic anime went through. Ever since then, I've mocked the english dub. Now you know why I'm trying to start a campaign to bring the anime back to the united states....in a real proper way. See my thread about bringing PSSM back to the U.S.

So now I'm asking all of you moonies in this place.....which do you prefer? The overly superior orignal anime, or the flawed and destoryed english version of the anime?

I have mixed feelings about the dub, it did introduce me to anime in general. But I do agree that some stuff was horribly done. But some changes in the dub I do prefer.

And I honestly liked some of the dub voice actors. For example I liked the 2nd Sailor Moon (the one for the movies and most of Dic's episodes). I also liked Rei's original dub voice.

For example while I don't mind keeping the background music in Japanese (except when they start chanting the character's names), I want any singing to be done in English. But I want the English version to be done well. Like the music keeping to the spirit of the original song without being a word for word translation.

I do think they should do an uncut version. That's one of the reasons why I love the movie, S, and SuperS dvds. They have uncut English and Japanese.

I personally i would rather have a dub be consistant the whole way through. If they change something in the dub they better keep it that way for the whole thing. It annoys me more to hear them saying "Uranus Star Power" in one episode then "Uranus Planet Power" in the next more then it annoys me to have it changed.

Watched the dub as a kid, knew they had mangled it (just watching the sailor says segments is enough proof since they often left footage in there they cut from the episodes)

Once I got more into anime i decided to check it out to confirm my beliefs and after a while I got into torrents and got the whole series.

As far as I can recall...I watched Sailor Moon when it originally airred on UPN long ago, I remember waking up at 5:30 to watch it. It then got carried over to Fox Kids, then to the USA channel. Then it went off the air. Got picked up by Cartoon Network...then, on a stroke of luck, I came to this store which sold bootleg sailor moon fansubbed vhs...and of course...i bought them like a fool (back then, I wasnt aware of much about fan subs and bootlegs and so fourth). And I bought the whole R-Stars on vhs, and i just loved sailor moon more and more. Eventually, the sailor moon dvd's came out...and I bought those too...and then...building on my sailor moon fandom, I learned of the Musicals, which I LOVED, my first musical was Death Vulcan No Fuuin (Part three of the Last Dracul Overture Triology), and it was so beautiful. I continually watched the musicals as they were released and picked up on the older ones as well...and then of course, big news of the Live Action surfaced, and luckily for me, my sailor moon mailing list was absolutely the best, and we got episodes in a few hours after they first airred in Japan. Sadly...the live action died off, and the Musicals went into hiatus...so...the group gradually faded, and without anything current left in Sailor Moon...things just went down the drain from there.

Thats my Sailor Moon story lol So this game is definitely bringing back alot of the Sailor Moon hype that use to be, so please dont give up on this project!!!

Started watching the dub when it first aired in 1995 in Canada. It wasn't until 1999 that I got my hands on cantonese versions on the manga and the internet. In 2000 I bought a bunch of french versions, even though my french reading skills are just lightly above my cantonese ones, which are none. I absorbed just about everything I could and let it simmer until PGSM came out. I've just got to finish watching my copies of the musicals.

I've never watched all of the anime, mostly because it's not my favourite Sailor Moon medium. I definately prefer the manga and even the live action to a point.

Well, I started out with the swedish dub actually, it aired about ten years ago on one of the swedish tv channels. I liked it, but noticed that some parts of the dialogue was... weird, like Tuxedo Kamen (or "The Masked Rose" as he was called in Sweden... :D) calling Usagi(Annie) by her name in her sailor form before learning her identity. IN THE FIRST EPISODE! Then channel four started removing all songs with japanes lyrics from the show, sometimes removing whole episodes when the songs couldn't be separated from the dialogue. They said it was because swedish kids might get a trauma from hearing foreign languages being sung...sick.
And yeah, they made Zoisite a woman of course. (Which countrys HASN'T? Anyone tell me.)

However, growing up and getting access to internet and such, I found out about the english dub, buyed some DVDs and borrowed others from my friends. so.
"Sweet jesus, you guys are seriosly worse than us!" I thought. Apart from luna sounding like shes 50years+ and have lived in the GB since 17th century, it's just a total SLAUGHTER of the original. Like "Princess Serena" and "Prince Darien". Ok, changing their civilian, presentday names, but letting them have the same in the past... who came up with that? I mean, come on, did't those persons even have any imaginable skils on their own?

So, my point being:
SUBTITLES GALORE!

When I was little, Sailor Moon aired here in the Netherlands. I always watched it every morning before I went to school, and when I couldn't see it, I recorded it. (Too bad I lost the recorded episodes..) It was a Dutch dub, which was closer to the original than the English dub. (The Dutch dub was based on the German dub) Like that at the end of the first season, the inner senshi die instead of what DiC did to it.

But now I watch the subbed episodes, because I like their Japanese voices better. And only the first season and 6 episodes of the R season aired here.

Even though I call everyone by their english names(Usagi-Serena, Ami-Amy, Rei-Raye, Makoto-Lita, Minako-Mina) since it sound easier for me, I still wish DiC didn't dub the series and Funimation did instead...

When I was younger, I didn't like Sailor Moon at all. I tried to like it, but just couldn't. I disliked what I saw of the anime (battles were too short, in my opinion, and only Sailor Moon got to fight. I think I was watching fillers.), and it probably didn't help that a boy who bullied me was obsessed with Sailor Jupiter.

In May 2013, I gave the series a second chance. Specifically the manga, as I'd read about the differences on TV Tropes and the Sailor Moon wiki beforehand. I couldn't help but like it.
I'd always loved magical girl stories and the whole sentai feel was great as well. Usagi (who I thought was OP and had everything handed to her on a silver platter as a kid) became my favourite instantly.
No, I didn't grow up with the series like most kids from the 90's - I don't think I was ready for it yet. Having read it when I was older -without cynicism towards friendship or love- that was the right time for me.

So yeah, I'd say manga. I just don't like the unnecessary love triangle, anime-Rei's personality, or anima-Chibiusa's personality, or the higher frequency of Sailor Moon needing to be rescued by Tuxedo Mask, or the lack of depth given to Mamoru ... And these things are unavoidable, dub or sub. I started watching PGSM and I quite like the cheesiness of it, but I don't like how they made Usagi kind of bland and changed her hobby of playing videogames to singing karaeoke. Not the same, and so ... 00's. I intend to finish it, though.
