NASCAR fans, as you are well aware, we are now 3 races into the 10 race chase and what a chase it has been.

Jeff Burton hasn't had a strong year ike this in his entire career, and considered to be one of the veteran drivers of this years chase, many are keeping a watchful eye on him.

Denny Hamlin has a reputation deserving of the name "Silent Assassin." He has a way of putting his car around the track that sees him under opponets radar until the last possible second. A definite contender at this point.

Mark Martin. THE veteran in the chase. 20 years in the number 6 car, this being his last in the cup series. Martin is the only driver in the chase this year to have NOT won a race, or qualify on the pole.. The Roush Racing machine is always one to watch, and what a fairy tale ending for Martin this would be to walk away with the championship this year.

Matt Kensith is, to me, the powerhouse of the chase. 4 wins, and numerous top 10 finishes throughout the season have proved that Kenseth can go the distance. He, like Hamlin, will often times lay low until the time is right, and he will take the lead when the time is right.

Kevin Harvick is another driver to watch closely. He is younger than some, but has just as much guts, and accompannying brains to get the job done. Certainly not one to forget about, even at the back of the pack.

Jeff Gordon is one of NASCAR's most loved, yet detested drivers. He is a series veteran, and one of the most respected drivers among other drivers in this years chase. But will luck hold out on the number 24, or will he strike gold throughout the second half of the chase?

Dale Earnhardt Jr is one of the most deserving drivers to be in the chase. He has always found a way to battle back from lack-luster seasons, and races and find a way to come back and hit his marks where they count.

Jimmie Johnson. The man who kicked 2006 off with a huge win at Daytona back in Feburary, and yet another win the week later. He led the points for months before finally dropping a spot to Matt Kenseth, but his recent races seem to be seeing him slack off a bit... Still, though, a definite contender.

Kyle Busch. The rookie who blew everyone away. No one ever expected the phenomenonal season that the little Busch brother has had. He has impressed all with his skills, and has garnered media attention like no rookie in recent history. Far behind in points right now, but definitly not out.

Kasey Khane has been the dominant driver this year. 5 poles, 5 wins, 9 top fives, and 14 top tens. Kasey Khane is quickly becoming a front runner of NASCAR. Right now he stands 273 points behind leader Jeff Burton, but rest assured, he can easily battle back at any time.

My pick is a bit biased this year... I picked Tony Stewart last year, so this year I am going 2 for 2. It's no overly huge secret that I am a Tony Stewart fan (Helluva win yesterday for him, it was) but this year I have laid my loyalties to the #20 Home Depot machine aside because I see a travisty in the making. Mark Martin, in his final season, remains THE BEST driver NEVER to win the cup. He failed to make the chase last season, and came back this year and now stands in 3rd with 7 races to go. I would give anything to see this cup series career end like it very well should, so therefore I am this year going to give my nod, and many wishes of good luck to the man with the grey hair in the Triple A machine. I hope to see his cup career come to a fitting close, and I wish him only the best of luck next year in the Craftsman Truck Series, which he will no doubt become a FULL TIME dominant force in. This is your year Mark, go out and get the job done!
