I am somhow surprised that no one here is talking about thw fifa world cup as it is the biggest event in all of sports history!

Who do you think will win the fifa word cup?

My guess:
ENGLAND! ENGLAND! ENGLAND!

Possible Winners:
ENGLAND! Germany, France and Brazil

I haven't been impressed by the "top" teams so far, except Argentina's stellar performance against Serbia - beating a team that qualified without a loss 6-0 is something to be reckoned with.

For the possible world cup winner, despite being german I refuse to jump on the hype for our team. I would of course like to see them win, but that backline is giving me a major headache. Poland was no challenge, but against world class attackers they'll be in trouble. This world cup comes 4 years too soon for a promising yet rather green team.

As for my favorites to win the cup I'd go with the obvious - Brazil, Argentina or Italy. Spain has been impressive in their opening game too.

As for England .. I dunno, but I don't think they'll get past quarterfinals after their two first matches. Of course they can step up their game from what they have shown so far, and the potential is there, but they don't seem to find their form and their winning formula so far might turn out to be too one dimensional against the top teams in later stages.

England have been unimpressive thus far though thier quality cannot be undermined, they will go far in the tournament. My tips to win it are England, Brazil or Argentina. Argentina were very impressive yesterday winning 6-0 and Brazil are well Brazil what more needs to be said. I am hooked on the World Cup at the minute.

England won't win it. They've been awful. They match against Trin. & Tob. was dreadful.

My pick to win is Germany. Everyone else is backing Brazil or Argentina, so I thought I'd go for Germany. And if they do, I win a big wad a cash :P

England has been under performing so far but they will step up their game. Rooney only just started, so he won't be on his top form yet. Peter crouch is a star in the making and Bechkam has stepped up his game.

C'mon. England need to stop blaming Rooney for everything (Yes, I'm aware you didn't blame him for everything, but everyone else seems to). He's not their "saviour". All I keep hearing is that England aren't doing well because Rooney isn't playing, or in "top form". He's not that good.

:D @ ML.

I think I am gonna erase Italy from my list of teams that could win this. They have been fairly underwhelming in their opening two, despite taking 4 points out of the matches. Their one man advantage over the USA never showed for the bigger part of the second half and their attempts of an attack and building up pressure were one dimensional and without any force. The US team however impressed me and showed that the bad performance against the Czech Republic was more or less an accident.

Then again, I am sure that Italy can play better than yesterday, but the uninspiring performance they put on should deffo worry their coach.

Group E is definately THE group to watch though. Last day of group stage matches should be very interesting, with all four teams still having hopes to advance. I dare predict the following:

Italy defeats Czech Republic

USA defeats Ghana

And we see Italy and USA advance.

Well...... Here's the match stats:

Brazil 2 Australia 0 - Too bad for Australia but they could still get in. That adds Brazil to the final 16 with England. I know Rooney isn't that good! But he is somewhat good.

Hah, Korea drawing with France. Outstanding. I'm amazed to see that Korea could finish top of their group.

All I can say about Scotland and the World Cup is:

Believe. World Cup 2010

I was pleased to see Mars Bar change some of their advertisments to that down here, rather the england shite (Which I should add, made their sales in Scotland drop by 80% :D )

Lotsa credits to S Korea for never giving up. One has to say tho that once again, the performance of the french was less than stellar. Half the team should consider retirement at least from the national side after the world cup.

And although South Korea did impress yesterday, I don't see them advance any further than last 16, maybe last 8. Remember 4 years ago they had the home turf advantage to finish 4th.

It won't be. Trust me :)

My guess is a Brazil Vs. Germany Final. Well, that's my hopes anyway :)

Either way, England will not be in the final.
