If you go to IGN a bunch you may have noticed this a lot like that. Anyway, I bought this game today, NFL Head Coach. I though it might be fun to write a thing like IGN. It entertained me on IGN (Mainly because im a sports fan) so maybe this will entertain you It opened up with Trey Wingo anouncing who I am, a former offensive coordinator for the Steelers looking to get a head coaching job. After that I went into making my character. Tom Landry is one of my idols, so I went with the fedora on my head. I look young for a head coach, but who cares. Anyway, after making my character, a short skinny brown haired guy with a fedora, wearing a polo, named after myself (I wont say the name), I went to interview with my first team. My original plan before I got the game was to coach the cowboys, so thats who I interviewed with that. I got a few basic questions, I cant remember all of them. Anyway, I answered them, and apparently I was well liked, I got five offers. First was from the Cowboys. Not a big contract at all, 6 Million over 5 Years. That turned me away a little. But they were 32 Million under the salary cap and had talent on the team. Next were the Rams. 6.8 Million over 5 years, not too bad. But what I really liked about them were that they were 42 Million under the salary cap, had the number eleven pick in the draft, and expectations werent as high as the cowboys. Next up were the Packers. Giant contract, but they were only 30 million under the salary cap and they sucked. Next were the Lions, I liked the offer, I would just have to see what I got next. The Texans were the next and final offer. Not as good a contract as Green Bay or St. Lious, but they had the number 1 pick which I liked a bunch. But they were 30 Million under the cap, and they REALLY sucked. That wasn't enough money to work with for me. So, I accepted the rams offer. I met up with the owner (The game doesn't have real owners) and talked about my philosphy and about how things worked. After doing a few small things it was time for the coach orientation-type thing. This is where you decide if you want to fire your assistant coaches, resign the expiring contracts, or keep one of your assistant coaches. I looked at my computer, and saw that the runningbacks coach and the offensive coordinator werent that good. I fired them on the spot. I signed a former head coach for my offensive coordinator (Not a real person, though all the head and assistant coaches of teams are real) and a former special teams coach for my runningback coach. Part 2, including free agent signing and the draft, coming soon |

Part 2 After going through a bunch of crap, it was finally time for resigning. I quickly resigned Isaac Bruce and Adam Archuleta, as passing was going to be my main offensive attack and I needed a strong secondary. I didnt sign any restricted free agents, at that time I was disgruntled that it had tooken so long to get the free agent signings and draft and that I still wasn't at the part I was waiting for, the unrestricted free agents. Once the URFA signing began, I picked a tight end (Chad Lewis), improved the offensive line, and picked up a good defensive end to help my weak pass rush. Now, at this time I had been playing for somewhere between 2 and 3 hours, possibly more. It may not have sounded like it but this process takes a long time. Now came the draft. Houston was up first.... "With the number 1 pick in the draft Houston selects AJ Hawk" What the hell!? No Bush or Williams? Micheal Huff went second, and Bush fell to the fifteenth pick!!!! I picked Manny Lawson, but really I should have got Bush. I was an idiot, I thought he had already been drafted so I passed on him >.> He is better than Steven Jackson and he is only a rookie >.> Manny Lawson was a great pick though, I had virtually no right ends and he changed that. Now I have a leginimate (Sp?) pass rush because of him and the guy I signed (Forgot that guys name). Second round I got Ko Simpson, also a good pick as I had no good free safeties. Third round I got.....I cant remember >.> Fourth I picked up Maurice Drew, who went in the second round in real life, so that was a steal. No other very significant picks Anyway, I spent the rest of the off-season preparing my depth chart and looking at trade offers, along with filling off my roster. Part 3- Non-Contact Training Camp It was time for training camp, well, almost. I wanted to change that I had no good back-up QBs, Jamie Martin sucks in that game. And so, I traded Torry Holt and Marshall Faulk (I wanted Faulk gone so I could get Drew some playing time) for Matt Lienart and another wide reciever that wasnt as good as Holt. Why did I do this? Bulger had been injured the season before so I wasn't sure on his health, and I wanted a young guy to move in in about two years. I know Bulger is young, but Lienart has more potential and I think in two years he will be better than Bulger. Anyway, training camp starts with a non-contact running drill. This drill proved my defense wasn't very good >.> I continually scored one this one play, while I had them blitzing and all they had to do was touch my runningback. I even put in my second string RB and he scored >.> At least the third string couldnt score On too the passing drill. I tried out Lienart and Bulger, Lienart didnt do too well, and while Bulger didn't do perfect, he did near perfect, hitting most of his targets. Now on to the last non-contact drill, 1 on 1 DB/WR drill. The qb would take the ball and throw it to the reciever, while the DB tried to block it or intercept it. Well, the recievers were doing good, until I tried out rookie CB Tim Jennings (Either a fifth or sixth round pick). Not one pass was complete for the four plays he was in, even against Isaac Bruce. First pass was deflected. Second Pass was intercepted and returned for a touchdown. Third pass was incomplete, completely missing the reciever. Fourth pass was almost intercepted, but ended up being deflected. Thats 3 out of four times that a pass was deflected/intercepted, and that one time it didnt happen was incomplete. I think we may have a awesome CB here in this fifth rounder.... Well, this is where im out right now. I took a break from the game for a while, once I get through with training camp than part 4 will come out. |

This is my draft picks, or at least the ones I remember >.> I drafted like 2 in the 6th and seventh round (I had two picks for each round due to trades) that I didnt sign, or maybe it was 3 First Round- Manny Lawson Right End After I let Leonard Little go due to a holdout, I was virtually without a pass rush. I signed a left-end, but I had no right-end. Manny was the answer to that. Second Round- Ko Simpson Free Safety I believe he was drafted in the fourth round in real life, but we need a free safety and he looked like he could be good. Today in my first pre-season game he intercepted a pass from peyton Manning, so I think I made a good pick here Third Round- Anthony Fasano Tight End I signed tight end Chad Lewis, but he was getting older and I needed a young one. And Fasano turned out to be a little better than Lewis too. Fourth Round- Maurice Drew Runningback With Marshall Faulk aging and the health of Jackson a question mark, I decided to draft this guy. A second rounder in real life. Fifth Round- Tim Jennings Cornerback Another second rounder in real life, he did great in training camp. Hopefully he will be good Two other picks (Forgot the last one or two, but I didnt sign them) Marques Hagans Quarterback At the game I needed a good back-up quarterback, and this guy was available in a late round, so snatched him up. Right now he is fourth string due to my trade for Matt Lienart Dan Stevenson Gaurd I dont think I signed this guy. He looked good, but in the end I didnt really need another guard |
