Psionics has their limits, sometimes things can be too fast for psionics to hit it.

Not really, psionics are very fast.

Alright..I think we've come to one agreement here, any attack these days can kill you...could we possibly try to make this more like the advanced RPing sites that have a 0% arguement rate?...

1.Make the RPers fill out a PERMANENT profile, with a single character, can be replaced with another character if said character is killed.

2.To earn things, win fights, in other words, if someone seems overpowered, its because they actually worked for it.

3.Get a permanent set of rules set down once and for all, every RPer will be required to read and follow these, rules breakers will be punished.

Meh...thats all I have right now, i'd say we need a test, but the admins are to lazy to distribute them, or at least they said that when I mentioned it a few months back, though i'd be happy to make a test and keep things logged myself.

Well, for all but military and fighting, all the RPers should do, is memorize the rules and follow them. As for the test, I was thinking i'd write up a little battle scenario, where all they had to do was prove they are'nt a n00b, and if they are, just let them spar in RP Central until they could pass the test, i've seen this system before, and it is effective.

But, I really think we need to do something to keep members from overpowering themselves unless they earn it..

I like the permanent profile thing. People seem to grow powers from one day to the next for no appearent reason. It would just help in the documentation of things, I've already gotten started in the factories, income and forces for myself so this'll just add to the work I have to do.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

Wait a second there, my first advlit site had plenty of arguing and really bitchy rivalries. Jesus, some of the people who I had as rivals there still sometimes challenge me,

Anyway, I say that they should either earn things by fighting OR by stories. Or some other legitamate, verifiable means. I mean, if you can concieveably learn how to wield a sword and get one, you should be able to add it into the profile.

Oh, also, I'd like to suggest that if the explination for an attack is actually longer than the attack itself, it's probably overpowered.

And what do you call AdvLit anyway? To quote the rules from that site, and also my guild on Gaia...

"Mingan Nightwalker"

In this version of RP'ing, you are expected to be literate.

You're likely to see at least two paragraphs, minimum, and get an extremely clear mental image of the scene. It's all about storytelling. If you *slashed at him with a sword* you are our prey.

Basically, you are requried to fully describe an attack, and, if you so desire, the situation and whatnot.

If your opponent is not able to block AND manage to come within three lines of or surpass your text length, they would be losing the battle. A true victory comes from both vanquishing your foe and from surperior story-telling abilites.

We go by the same rule of "if you miss an attack, it hits." A fair-minded opponent might limit the damage as much as possible, but others will cause as much impact as they can within the context of your reply.

If you avoid a downward slash by twisting away, but miss a lunge, you can end up with a slight flesh wound on the side of your shoulder, OR you can end up with a sword stuck through your throat.

Basically, you'll need to be VERY descriptive to prevent an untimely death.

"Raithan Mekare"

"Methran Vernal"

Methran roared his defiance to the skies, lifting Aquitane, his aquamarine broadsword up to the sky. The blood of countless men ran down the sharpened edge. His eyes flashed with his inner rage as he lowered his sword to shoulder level, holding it in front of him like the warrior he was.

"By the gods, you shall know the meaning of pain before my blade finds its home in your filthy blood, scum!" he bellowed at his opponent, pointing Aquitane at his smaller rival. He could feel his sweat running down his dirt-streaked forehead.

Despite the aching burn of his muscles from combat, he charged with a loud roar, feet crunching on the blood-soaked gravel underfoot. As he came within sword's range, he lunged forward with the blade, determined to send the cool sword through his opponent's lungs, forcing the biting metal into his heart.

Raithan coldly stared at the battle-crazed man, not flinching in the slightest, despite the blood that stained his tunic. He could feel the blood pulsing out of his side, nerves sending messages of a burning pain to him. Chest heaving with exertion, the smaller man kept his cool. Methran was still a distance away from him, fortunately.

Over to the side of the bloodlusted man was a crumpled corpse, eyes wide in terror. A burn mark streaked across his face, and around his head, one could see blood, bone fragments, and liquid particles of brain. His friend, dead from the lightning-blade that the man was now wielding.

His focus was broken by the sound of crunching gravel and a taunt. Eyes wide as he beheld the charge, he could almost smell the adrenaline coursing through his body, as well as the tang of bitter sweat that soaked him through.

He leapt nimbly to his right to avoid the attack, turning in midair in an attempt to send his slightly scratched black dirk into the left shoulder of Methran. His dark-swathed arm appeared to be a liquid blur as the blade cut through the air.

"First, you must find my blood." he replied, his voice a wavering alto. He didn't have much left in him, but he was still the faster fighter. He was outclassed, and didn't know how much longer he could last against this berk. He'd give it his all, though.

In non-combat things, it's generally advisable to keep your eyes on the prize, for various reasons. If you were flirting with a pretty girl and kept on staring at her breasts, you'd likely get slapped across the face. If you don't specify what you see...

*blinks*Mingan, the first part of your quote, should be tossed into the permanent rules here...not many people here add story to the post, and most people say its just filler when I do that.

Now, I can understand in a town or normal RP, not adding detail, because they move extremely fast, and you'll most likely end up a few pages off from the original message your relpying to if you take time to post a lot, but in a fight, two paragrahs, preferably three, minimum, sounds good to me.

Right now, I think we just need to set up a profiling system, so people can justify their abilities. Though, I think testing, is still a good idea.

I'd like to start by saying that the constant Gaian references ar starting to get reeeeeal annoying...

I'd then like to say that, back in the old days when roleplay was fun, few people did attacks of two paragraph length or more. Coincidence?

I swing my sword at your right shoulder, then jump back a few feet, before holding out my left hand, releasing a blast of ki.

I swung my sword with great force down at your right shoulder, the moon hanging in the night sky casting a shadow off the blade as it gracefully moved through the chilled night air, and as I sliced into your flesh and the crimson liquid sprayed through the air, I leaned down slightly on both of my knees, my feet inching ever so slightly as a small cloud of dust loomed over the ground, before I leaped back, seemingly floating through the air as I held out my right hand, a spark of energy flying from my palm as I opened it and unleashed a furious beam of ki energy.

Which one of those looks better Biggorron, its not just about a fight, there is some level of story elements involved here...

And how exactly does that enhance the story? It has absolutly no plot signifigance, it just adds unrelated detail.

In short, it's filler. Why put it in?
