Section 2: The Guardian of the Portals Chapter 1: The Over World Aurora popped out behind a tree, she could see children playing off to her left. She decided to risk being seen, and walked over. The children saw her and walked over. “Hey, little girl, are you lost?? “ asked one of the children. “No, I’m not thank you, I would just like to know how to get to a beach from here.” “Nice wings!” gushed one of the girls, “Can I wear them??” “No, you can’t.” “awww please??” “No,” Aurora could tell she wasn’t going to get any help from the children.”Can you tell me where your parents are??” “Right over there“, the boy pointed, he seemed to be the eldest. The girl was tryng to get aurora’s wings off by tugging on them. “There stuck!, not fair” after saying which she pulled harder. “OW!! HEY!!” Aurora was getting mad now. She tried to fly off by flapping her wings, and only succeded in wrenching her left wing painfully, cause the girl was still tugging on it. The children scattered as a man approached. Aurora quickly stood up, flapping her wings gently to help stop the pain in them. “Are you alright Miss??” Asked the stranger. “Yes, thank you, I’m fine now…” ,Aurora replied,”and you are??” “…I am Chris…” “Pleased to meet you. I’m Aurora.” Aurora shook his hand. Chris’ watch beeped, and he turned to go. “I’m sorry, I have to be somewhere…” “Its alright, thanks for rescuing me.” “Your welcome…” Chris walked towards the road. Aurora watched him go As Chris got toward the center of a road, a car ran him over. Aurora had never seen a car before and she had no idea what it could do, not to mention that Chris had just been killed by one. She morphed into a phoenix, first she started to glow a blinding white light, and then she grew rapidly, finally towering above the 10 story building next to her, then the head and wings of a phoenix slowly emerged, She flew over to Chris and shed 2 tears over him, reviving him. People screamed and ran, and the driver got out of the car and ran too. Aurora just moved away from the car and healed Chris.Chris opened his eyes, and the look of terror on his face went straight to Aurora’s heart. “you need not fear, I won’t hurt you.” “B-b-but--” “Shhh, everythings going to be alright.” Aurora put Chris down. Chris ran off shaking with fear. After making sure that no one was around Aurora turned herself back into a fairy. She jumped up and flew off landing in a forest and sitting down to do some thinking. She decided to not ever show anyone she was a phoenix again. It scared them a lot. She decided to go and find somewhere to stay the night. She was walking toward a hotel when someone cleared his throat behind her. Aurora spun around, it was Chris. “H-Hey chris…” “Hi.” They walked toward the hotel together. “what do people use for money around here??”,asked Aurora. Chris stopped and looked at her,”Your kidding right??” “Do you think they would take these??”, Aurora pulled out a little red cloth tied with a blue string and opened it. Inside were litle red fire stones, they sparkled and they looked sortof like they were on fire. “Where did you get those?!”Chris asked picking one up to look at it. “I got them, cutting hedges. Its what we use back home…” Aurora put though back in her pocket. “you can keep that one if you like.” “Thanks.” Chris deposited the Fire Stone into his pocket. “your really not from around here are you??” “No. I come from Mount Dragon…”,They were very close to the hotel now.”Do you think theyd take the Fire Stones??” “where’s that?? No, you need dollars.” “Whats a dollar look like??”Aurora asked sitting down on a bench outside the hotel. People stopped to stare at her wings, but she was used to it by now. “its very far from here…You can only reach it by portal.” “where is this portal??” Chris pulled out a dollar from his wallet and handed it to her to look at. Aurora studied the dollar for a minte and gave it back to Chris who put it back in his wallet. “behind a rock that’s behind a tree. Where do I get one of those??” “By working.” “ Do you think I could get a job around here??” (next chapter comming soon^_^) |

CHapter 2: The Curse “Probably not, you havn’t been to college around here so you wouldn’t have all the right papers.” Chris answered. “Oh.” “Would you like to come to my place till you can find a place to stay??” , Asked Chris,”The little wife would love to have you.” “Thank you so much Mr. Chris.” “Just call me Chris, and it’s not a problem.” As they walked to Chris’ place Chris stopped to go into a store. When he came out he sat down on a bench and motioned for Aurora to sit down too. He took something out of his pocket and unwrapped it from the tissue paper. “Look what I got for Stella.”He said proudly showing her a very ornate bracelet with lots of mystic designs. “It’s for her birthday tomorrow” “Where ever did you find it?? That’s the Bracelet of Discoveries!!” Aurora forgot her manners for a second,” Oh, what I meant was, I’m sure she’ll love it“ “I got it in this jewelry store. Cost me a good amount too. Why did you call that??” Chris was somewhat bewildered. “Because it IS the Bracelet of Discoveries. It has been missing from Granite Cliff for eons. It is the bracelet of the emporers. The Elves passed it on from ruler to ruler. It was forged by one of the first blacksmiths of the Diamond Empire. With this bracelet you can find the Portal of Mysteries and learn the hidden wonders of the earth element. It will automatically register any portal it comes across, but it will only open the Portal of Mysteries.” Aurora explained excitedly. “Oh…” “You’re giving your wife a real treasure you know. It probably is worth at least 40 Fire stones…” “HEY!! That’s it!! Fire stones!! I know how you can make money. Those rocks you’re carrying, sell them to a jeweler.” “Who would want to wear money??” “That’s just it. People around here don’t know that’s money, and since it’s so red, and it has a slight glow and they’re so sparkly all the girls would want one.” “But I only have 12.” “But jewelers cut them up into little itty bitty pieces and make lots of thing with them.” “What do I do when they want more after I’ve sold all 12?? I can’t very well go back to Mt Dragon, My family is there.” “You talk like that’s a bad thing.” “It is, I’m not supposed to see my family ever again unless I want to bring calamity upon ALL of Mt Dragon.” Well then, just tell them that you’ve only got 12 rocks and you want to sell them.” Chris put the bracelet back, and got up off the bench. Aurora got up and followed. “No thank you.” She said,” I manage, if I have to sell them I will, but I might need them later. Oh by the way, you might want to not give that bracelet to your wife yet.” Why not??” Chris asked as they walked “It’s cursed. You see when it disappeared, it was discovered that it had been stolen, and the emperor had it cursed, so that the thief would die and they could retrieve it. However the plan didn’t quite work out like it was supposed to and the bracelet was never recovered, though the thief did die.” Chris did not believe in curses. “I don’t think my wife will care.” “She’ll go crazy” “Its just nonsense” “That’s because here, on the over world curses do not exist. Therefore if someone curses you it does you no harm. On the underworld curses DO exist, and since this bracelet was cursed on the underworld, then the curse works.” “I don’t believe it.” “You’ll be sorry, and then you can’t say I didn’t warn you.” “How did the thief die??” “N one knows, lots of speculation about it though” They were nearing the house now and when they reached it Stella let them in. “Hey Darling!” Stella said beaming and kissing Chris. “Hey Stella!” Chris said,” I brought a friend home today. She’ll be staying for a while.” Aurora walked up at this point and shook Stella’s hand smiling. “That is if it’s ok with you. Your husband was very kind and offered to let me stay here till I could manage on my own.” “I’m sure we could find a place to put you young lady.” Stella said smiling. “I’m Stella and it’s a pleasure to meet you.” “My name is Aurora it’s a pleasure to meet you too. You are both so kind.” They all walked into the living room and through to the dining room. “Sit down and have supper you two.” Stella said. They all sat down and talked over supper and by then it was late and time for bed. Aurora slept in a spare room right down the hall from Chris and Stella. The next morning was a Saturday and Aurora could here Chris making breakfast. She got dressed remembering how much like the first day of her adventures this was and walked down stairs. “Good Morning!” She said softly seeing as how it was only Chris that was up. “Good Morning Aurora. You want some breakfast??” Chris asked smiling. “Yes please if it’s not too much trouble.” “None at all, anything you’d like??” “Whatever you’re making is fine.” “I’ll be right with you as soon as I take this up to the misses.” Chris said picking up a tray and walking upstairs with it. Aurora sat down on the couch and waited quietly. Chris came back down and started fixing them breakfast. “I gave Stella the bracelet and waited for a reaction. She loved it. Didn’t see any negative effects though.” It was 2 whole days before the effects showed. Stella got cranky and irritable and hard to deal with, she spent a lot of time outside the house as well. One day Stella found the rock that covered the portal to Mt Dragon. Aurora could feel her fire symbols glowing… (Next chapter coming soon ^_^) |

CHapter 3: The plot Aurora let her through the first of the 3 portals, so that she could get her to a place where they could un-curse her. However Stella walked on with a purpose. Aurora decided to follow her to see where she went. Stella walked through the Lost Woods like she’d been living there all her life. She walked for days, past Angel Cove all the way to Death Plains. Aurora followed her discreetly, wondering why she was wondering in the territory of the Elemental Beings of Darkness. She followed Stella all the way to a swamp; in a clearing she could hear voices. Aurora hid behind a rock where she could see. Stella walked right into the middle of the conclave. Aurora saw many druids, shamans, wizards, and warlocks all around a campfire (because the swamp was dark) and seated on a rock speaking was Cyrvanti. He stopped when he saw Stella. “H-welcome my dear.” he said. “I have come master.” She answered bowing. “Good join the group, but first show us what you can do.” “I have no powers Great One. “ “None huh?? Come I will give you powers.” Cyrvanti said. Stella approached, and Cyrvanti touched her shoulder, her eyes reeled up in her head and she gave a moan sinking to the ground. “She will come around soon enough… As I was saying, I have made 100s of 1,000s of these gold bands.”, he held one up in the fire light so all could see,” They will keep all who wear them from using their powers, as well as slowly draining them of their energy until they are weak and defenseless. By infiltrating Angel Cove and Mount Dragon, and getting the inhabitants to wear these bands, we will kill off every speck of the element of light in the entire universe, leaving us free to take over the world! Are you with me??” He asked. Every one cheered in consent. “Then let the plan begin!” One of the beings there raised his hand. “What about the portals??” Cyrvanti thought for a minute and then said, “We will find a way through, don’t worry.” The conclave scattered. Aurora was left all alone in the cold dark swamp to think about how to act as the guardian of the portals. At length Aurora got up and snuck out. She had to go to Angel Cove. When she got out of Death Plains she flew on to Angel Cove. When she got there, she walked up to the nearest villager. “Excuse me sir…” she said. The man turned. “Yes young one??” “C-can you please lead me to the Avenger?? It is urgent.” “Have you the medallion?? “ “The legendary Medallion of Fire and Light??” Aurora felt sure she didn’t have it; nonetheless she rummaged through her belt. Not finding it there she became a little worried. “Why do you need it??” “The avenger will see only the one who brings the Medallion.” “Well can I speak to the Town Leader or whoever your ruler is??” “The Avenger will see no one-” “Unless they have the Medallion….” Aurora thought for a minute and then asked cautiously. “W-Will he see a…um…a phoenix??” The man seemed surprised. “Who are you and what do you know about this Phoenix??” “I am Aurora Rose, Phoenix Fairy of the Fire Fairy Clan of the Order of the Sacred Flame…The phoenix are…uh…my people…” she said hesitantly, not wanting to disclose that she was the phoenix, and hoping that he knew about the beginning of the Fire Clan. “uh…That is we WERE the phoenix until…we uh…came to live in the volcano…Sir.” The man thought for a minute and then said thoughtfully.” Your people are welcome here, we had heard about your loss, but that still does not explain where you would get The Phoenix to show to the Avenger.” “Oh, thank you, The Flame is safe now, back where it belongs…as for finding the Phoenix…that should not be…too hard.” “I will ask the avenger if he will see The Phoenix. Wait here.” The man walked off toward a building in town, and was gone for a few minutes. When he came back He motioned for aurora to follow him. “Lightbringer has agreed to see you, but if you are wasting his time he will be very displeased and you will no longer be welcome here.” He opened the door to the building to let her inside. “Thank you Sir.” Aurora walked inside. The house was simple, but elegant in its own way, and sitting in a chair was the most fascinating man Aurora had seen. He had wise looking blue eyes, and white hair, he didn’t look a day over 20, but Aurora was sure he must be over thousands of years old. “Come in young one. Welcome.” “Mister Avenger Sir??” “Yes, that is me. Please sit down. I hear you have a phoenix you wish to show me…” “Yes Mister Avenger Sir, do you want me to show her to you here??” “Yes Aurora. Please call me Radian.” Aurora nodded, hesitating slightly. “I don’t want to burn your house down…” “Don’t worry, you won’t.” Radian Lightbringer suppressed a chuckle. “Alright then.” Aurora summoned her courage, and touched the flame symbol on each side of her face using 2 fingers of each hand. She grew so large that the little house could hardly hold her glowing brightly all the time, and then her head changed into that of a phoenix, and her hands changed into wings and then she stopped glowing. Radian wasn’t the least bit surprised. “How is it that you don’t have the medallion?? The Pheonix holds the medallion.” “I did not know that.” “I will teach you how to obtain it at will.” And with that he showed her how to do it, and Aurora practiced until she became proficient at it. All the time telling The Avenger why she had come to see him… (Next Chapter Coming soon) |

Chapter 4: Lessons and Legends The Avenger rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “That is a problem….Thank you for warning us…” “You’re welcome… Can you help at all??” Aurora asked somewhat anxiously. “I will be needed here to fend off those that will come to the Cove.” Radian answered gravely “Oh…yes…of course…” Aurora hadn’t thought of that, “But then If your going to be here how-” “-will you defeat Cyrvanti??” Radian looked at her,” That should not be a problem for one such as yourself.” “But my element is fire…my light is not--” “-But you have the medallion, all of Cyrvanti’s might is not enough to stand against the medallion.” “But--” “No buts. You will do well…I am surprised you know so little of your enemies, that you would not be able to successfully guard the portals in the time of crisis.” Aurora dropped her eyes, and bowed her head. She spoke softly hoping maybe he wouldn’t hear,” My people have long…forgotten…” The Avengers hearing was excellent for his age and he was thoughtfully silent for a minute before he spoke, “Are none of the secrets kept in the legends??” Aurora looked up in surprise. “O-only few and those few I know.” “…And the Queen, She has not told you the rest??” “Um…no…not that I know of…” “Does she know of Cyrvanti’s existence??” “…I don’t know…” “That is probably for the best. I shall tell you something of Cyrvanti and then you must go, for time is of the essence.” Radian’s eyes took on a far away look as he spoke. Aurora nodded and waited. “About 4 thousand years ago the druid Kronos dropped the Mirror of Malevolence into the Spring of Desires. Those who lived on the side nearest Death Valley captured him, but at a great cost. At length he escaped thinking he was unnoticed. A brave lad saw, and followed him all the way back to Death Valley. There Kronos reported to a tall dark complexioned Druid all that had occurred and received a payment in gold. The lad returned and reported what he had seen. At that time I was about your age, curious and very foolish. I wanted to go and see this druid for myself. So I did something that was outlawed at the time: I opened a rift. I ended up in Death Valley, and disguised myself as a wandering salesman, who specialized in staves. At length I met Cyrvanti, though only later did I find out his name. In a few months time I had gained his favor, and he hired me to make him a unique stave. Little did I know what he wanted it for, but I made it anyway. When I was finished he paid me and then took it. I found him performing his dark arts over it, to accomplish something. What I still don’t know. Every now and then he’d hire me to make a stave for someone, and as time went on I discovered that he was attempting to increase his power by every means possible, in order to destroy the current ruler of Death Valley. He had acquired all 4 Quintessance stones and had fused them into himself at a great price. He took over Death Valley, and began attempts at controlling other clans as well. Cyrvanti tried Angel Cove, and found out that he was no match for us. After several unsuccessful attempts and much bloodshed he finally stopped and went on to Crystal Falls, successfully enslaving the water nymphs. At the time of his attack on Angel Cove, I returned to warn my people and fight him. There was peace for a little while until Cyrvanti recovered his strength for another attack. This time he was too powerful and Angel Cove was almost subdued, At that time the Fire Fairy Clan were still phoenix and so I got one to take me away one day, and help me make the medallion. Then, I brought back the medallion, and defeated Cyrvanti. After that I gave the medallion back to the phoenix to care for. There has once again been a long peace while Cyrvanti recovers his strength. He will be stronger this time, and if he is not stopped forever, he will soon be too powerful to be defeated.” Aurora listened carefully and when The Avenger was done, she thanked him and headed for the door. “Wait…” Radian said. Aurora turned around. “Remember the hidden legends.” Aurora walked out puzzling over his last words. What could they mean?? Were they the key to defeating Cyrvanti forever?? Aurora could only guess, and so she flew on to the second portal. When she got there she sat down to think. After a while something taped her on the shoulder startling her, it was a Fire Fairy. This was not impossible as it was possible to come through the portals from Mt Dragon, but one could not enter to go back to Mt. Dragon unless the Guardian permitted it. Aurora thought that it was rather odd that any fairy would leave his homeland unless Queen Lauren had ordered it. “Miss??” The fairy said. “Yes? How can I help you??” Aurora answered the fairy as she looked him over. He was 3ft in height, and rather wiry. He had brown hair and wore the customary outfit of her clan. What was odd though was that he had red eyes. No one in the Clan had ever had red eyes. “Do you know how to get to Mt Dragon from here??” He asked. “You have to go the same way you came; there is no other way to enter Mt Dragon.” Aurora calmly stated. “…Then do you know how to get back through the portals??” “No. Only the Guardian knows the way.” “Well, then do you know where this “guardian” is??” “You mean you do not know how to summon the guardian??” Aurora asked incredulously “Uhm…well…” the man gave a nervous chuckle,” you see I…um…just wanted to see if you know how to summon it” Aurora‘s little red flags went up. Every fairy knew how to properly summon the Guardian, and every fairy knew the guardian was female. “I’m sorry I cannot help you, Sir” She replied calmly. “But I simply MUST get in!!” The man begged. “Why do you want to get in so badly??” “Because If I don’t then I can’t warn them.” “warn them of what??” “Of the oncoming invasion!” “I’ll tell them, just tell me what to say.” “You couldn’t possibly tell them, your stuck out here yourself!” “Whoever said I was stuck?? I’m out here because I want to be, I’ll go in when I please.” “Well its just that they wouldn’t believe you…” “You think they’re going to believe you?? You apparently haven’t seen yourself in the mirror lately…” “Well, you believe me.” “Ah, but there’s the catch you see, You have only told me theirs an invasion, you havn’t told me by whom or when.” “And that’s the catch because why??” “Because I’m STILL waiting to hear the rest. I’m not going to believe you till I hear some details…” The man became impatient. “Are you going to let me in or not??” “I CANT let you in, because I’m NOT the guardian.” “Well get it then so I can get in.” “Not until you tell me more about this ‘Invasion’” The man’s eyes flashed, and he grabbed Aurora’s arm slipping something over her wrist as he did. Aurora gasped as pain shot through her arm and the bracelet glowed. She tugged on it and tried to push it back over her wrist, but to no avail. She then tried to melt it off with fire, but she couldn’t even make a spark and the harder she tried the more it hurt. The man snickered and turned into his real form. “Now summon the guardian.” The druid commanded. “Never.” Aurora kept working at the bracelet “Then you will die.” “That’s just fine.” The druid picked her up and hurled her against a tree. Aurora could hear one of her wings crack. “If you summon the guardian I’ll take your bracelet off” “You think I believe that?? Why would the guardian let you in anyway?? “ “do you think I’d be in THIS form??” “Nope but the guardian would still know…” The Druid picked her up and tried to bend her backward over his knee. Aurora managed to block and get free. She felt really tired, but she drew her sword. “Prepare to die.” The Druid laughed and just stood there. Aurora charged him… (Next Chapter Coming Soon. ^_^) |

Chapter 5: The war begins Aurora’s sword felt very heavy, but she gave a good swipe at her assailant. The sword barely even scratched him. Aurora was at a loss, she had no idea what to do. She could not use her powers, her sword was ineffective, and she felt very weak and very tired. Not to mention that her wrist still throbbed painfully under the gold bracelet. Then she got it, she still had her fairy dust and her golden tears. She still had a chance. She jumped up and flew over him landing behind him. “Be blind and deaf.” she said. The druid felt his hearing fade and his vision diminish. A dark rune appeared on the back of his head restoring his senses. Aurora was not paying attention. She was trying to get some fairy dust from her wings into her bracelet and not succeeding very well. Her eyes were feeling very heavy, and she was very tired, but she knew that to stop now was death. She got a little fairy dust on the bracelet about the time the druid body slammed her into a tree. The fairy dust that came off from the impact covered them both. Aurora smiled; she used the fairy dust that was on the druid to paralyze him while she dissolved the bracelet on her wrist. As the bracelet slowly got weaker, she got stronger and less tired. In about 10 minutes the bracelet came off, and the druid’s paralysis wore off too. She then attacked the druid with fire, the druid fought back hard, and the battle was long. In the end Aurora had to use Beam of Essence to defeat him. A horribly draining attack that left the user almost dead. Aurora didn’t have enough MP left to heal herself so she waited there for a while until she could heal herself and get up. Then she went through the portals to Mt Dragon. When she got inside the volcano she headed straight for the palace. She addressed one of the guards, “Sir I wish to be granted entrance to see Her Royal Majesty Queen Lauren.” “I’m afraid I’m not allowed to grant access to just anyone.” he responded “It’s urgent.” “I’m sure, look I know you want to see Her Majesty badly but I was instructed not to let anyone in today. You know Her Majesty doesn’t take visitors on weekends!” Aurora sighed, and held out her hand. It glowed for a second and then the medallion materialized. She showed it to the guard. “I am the Phoenix and I wish entrance.” “You can’t be. The Guardian has never set foot in Mt Dragon since she brought back the Flame.” Aurora touched the symbol on each side of her face with 2 fingers, and morphed into the phoenix. The guard gasped. Aurora turned back into her fairy form. “Is it really all that urgent??” asked the guard. “Yes it is,” Aurora said. The guard mumbled something under his breath while he unlocked the gate and let her in. “Thank you very much sir.” Aurora said and flew into the palace, where the guard conducted her to the audience chamber. She waited for them to announce her to the queen. When she was let into the Audience Room Aurora bowed, and then waited for the queen to address her. “What is the emergency young one??” asked the Queen Lauren gravely “Your Majesty, it has come to my attention that Cyrvanti Correlli the Supreme Dictator of Death Plains and all Elemental Beings of Darkness has hatched a plan to obliterate light from the earth.” Aurora declared. “Has he got past the portals??” “Not yet Your Majesty.” “How then does he plan to proceed with this plan??” “He has developed a gold bracelet engraved with runes that renders defenseless all who wear it. By getting all the inhabitants of Angel Cove to wear it, he will weaken fire enough to be able to enter the portals without a key.” “This is serious…We should warn them.” “That has been done Your Majesty.” “Then we should ready our warriors.” “Yes…” “You have a plan already??” “Yes I do but you’re going to have to trust me…” Aurora told Queen Lauren her plan. Aurora exits the palace and heads for the second portal. Once she reaches it she goes through it and enters the Lost Woods. She then flies to angel cove to see The Avenger and then over towards death plane. As she flies over Death Plane she drops a little scroll every 10 miles. She then heads back to the second portal and waits. ~~~~~ One of Cyrvanti’s minions finds a scroll, and rushes back to show it to Cyrvanti. Upon reaching Cyrvanti’s ominous castle the shaman must say the magic words to enter. Having done that he has to wait for someone to notice him and announce him to Cyrvanti. After waiting 5 hours he is finally admitted to Cyrvanti’s Great Hall. He bows 6 times and says the customary flattery to His Royal Despot the Fearsome Tyrant Cyrvanti Correlli. Having thus obtained permission to address the dictator the Shaman hands him the scroll. (Next Chapter Coming Soon! ^_^) |

Chapter 6: The ambush Cyrvanti opened the scroll. It was blank but it contained a firestone with the symbol of light etched into it. He tossed the scroll aside. The stone clattered out onto the floor and the scroll glowed a little bit. Cyrvanti turned to the shaman. “WHAT JOKE IS THIS?!?!?” “N-No joke your benevolence…” the shaman stuttered picking up the scroll, “LOOK!!” Wide eyed and trembling he handed the scroll to Cyrvanti. Cyrvanti was about to throw it away when the glow caught his eye. He opened it and read in astonishment the words written in fire. The Gauntlet has been thrown. Seek the path blazed in fire Let your guide be this stone Let us see who is truly wiser Cyrvanti remained silent in thought leaving the distraught shaman to contemplate what horrors awaited him. After a while he spoke startling his minion. “You have done well. We shall see who this challenger is, and why they wish death.” The shaman couldn’t believe his ears, “T-thank you Great One” He then left the building. Cyrvanti summoned his general,” Take 1,000 warriors and wait for me outside the castle. “He then exited the castle his robes flowing behind him, stave in hand. He took the scroll out of his pocket and studied the note once more; He then took the stone in his hand and rubbed it. Nothing happened. He then tried blowing on it. Nothing. He called for a match and tried setting fire to it. Again, nothing. All the while the men in the army wondering what he was doing but not daring to ask. He tried holding it out in the light, nothing. Finally in is fit of frustration he zapped it with a beam of dark magic to destroy it. As soon as it shattered a beam of fire shot forth leaving behind it a trail of fire which Cyrvanti and his men followed. As they reached the end of the path they found no one. Cyrvanti was very angry at having come all this way to stand in a sun sprinkled clearing in the middle of a patch of trees on Soul Plateau. Not to mention that his path had vanished, not that it wasn’t that he couldn’t get back to Death Plains on his own; it’s just that he felt like he had just walked into a trap. Having no one to blame he took his anger out on his first officer by disintegrating him on the spot and then he turned to go. “Leaving so soon??” Came a cheery voice, “We haven’t been properly acquainted yet and I was soo looking forward to it too.” Cyrvanti turned around. To his surprise it was Aurora sitting on a rock gently flapping her wings and grinning at him. “Well?? Aren’t you happy to see me?? I’ve been dying to see you again since we last met you know, I didn’t get to properly thank you”, and here her voice took on a menacing undertone,” for all the fun we had.” Cyrvanti laughed a cruel laugh. “Fool! You’re wasting your time. Why don’t you go home where you belong and make flowers or turn pumpkins into coaches or something??” Aurora just shot him with a little beam of light. “I’m tired of talking, let’s play.” “You want to play?? Then play with them!” Cyrvanti pointed to his army as they rushed forward attacking with darkness. As soon as they rushed forward, little beams of light began turning into Fairies and Star Dryads who fought the army with light and fire. The battle was short and fierce though in the end Aurora’s side won. As soon as they appeared the Fairies and Star Dryads vanished camouflaged in the sunlit clearing. As their job was done they floated away. “It’s just you and me now…” Aurora said Cyrvanti wasn’t in the slightest bit fazed,” Prepare to die!” He sent a massive wave of roiling darkness toward her it crackled with dark energy as it came. Aurora shot up barely dodging the attack and sent a hail of light beams at him. They did him little damage. Cyrvanti surrounded her in dark runes which she dissipated quickly, flying by him to cover him in fairy dust which slowed down his movements considerably. The battle went on like this for awhile, Cyrvanti shooting Aurora with everything he had for a quick kill and Aurora staying just out of his reach, bombarding him with attacks that did little damage but were immensely irritating. Cyrvanti was getting careless in his frustration and anger and Aurora took full advantage of it. She sat down on her rock and morphed into a phoenix, while Cyrvanti in surprise tried shooting her with darkness which fell short of his opponent because she was glowing so brightly. When she had finished morphing she shot him with an overwhelming beam of light that took its toll. Cyrvanti realizing the full potential of what loomed before him prepared for the next attack. When it came it did him no damage. Aurora tried every last attack she had as a phoenix, everyone of which Cyrvanti blocked. Aurora remembered that Radian had told her she needed something to defeat Cyrvanti, but she couldn’t remember what, she had to keep Cyrvanti busy while she thought it out. Aurora kept bombarding Cyrvanti. He attacked with dark ribbons that tied her down; it took a lot of effort for Aurora to get them off. While she was occupied with removing them, Cyrvanti bombarded her with many dark attacks from draining her strength to clouding her mind. As soon as Aurora got the dark ribbons off she focused on clearing her mind. After a while she remembered and shot a beam of fire onto the ground between her and Cyrvanti. When the smoke cleared away their was the medallion glistening in the sunlight. Cyrvanti groaned, and he raised his staff, uttering some words and using runes a dark orb began to grow on the top of his staff. Aurora put every ounce of energy she had into an attack on the medallion. It glowed absorbing the attack, it flashed for a couple seconds and then nothing. Aurora started to try again when a rumbling sound was heard, a blinding flash shot up out of the medallion and then the light began to spread out quickly. It rapidly engulfed Cyrvanti’s counter attack obliterating it and moving toward Cyrvanti. At the same time it rapidly approached Aurora engulfing her and Cyrvanti in the blinding light. When the light faded, the Plateau was demolished. All that was left was a crater and some smoke. As the smoke cleared the medallion lay in the center with Aurora barely living on the right and Cyrvanti’s Stave on the left. Aurora glowed and slowly turned back into her fairy form, she lay very still but a faint smile was on her face. A cloud of pink sparkles appeared on her right, which glowed brightly sending out little pink rays of light and then materialized into Queen Lauren. A little puddle of light on her left materialized into The Avenger. Queen Lauren stooped down to see if Aurora still breathed… (Next Chapter Coming Soon!! ^_^) |
