Code: Kirin!

As the description says, I'm just making this topic out of curiosity.

Does anyone else here still play games on their old consoles? Do you prefer to repurchase old games on newer systems (either as VC-style releases or HD ports/remakes)?

Personally, I still use my Gamecube, PS2, and DS. I guess my PS3 as well, if you consider that old.

No, they all died, or I gave them away.

I only have my PSP left, but I haven't used it in 2 years

I still play MHFU on the psp, or the occasional other game...

Same with the DS which I use for some GBA titles...

PS2 sadly got forgotten since I remoderned my room, used to play it while on the bed, now that it's on the desk I'd rather play PC games...

You are not alone.
Use them? I can't even find them.

Except the PSP and the DS. The PSP's dead and the DS' screens are broken beyond repair and I lost the charger. Also, it's a fat DS so parts don't exist anymore.

I still use my old consoles. A lot! I'm a fan of retro gaming. Dreamcast, Master System, Genesis, Sega CD, Saturn, NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, PS1, PS2, Gameboy, GBC, GBA, DS, PSP, Neo Geo Pocket Color, etc. I've got quite a few (but I need to replace my OG Xbox, it doesn't work anymore).

Regarding the second question: I'll buy compilations on modern consoles, but I honestly prefer old titles on their original hardware on a CRT TV.

Would if I could

PS2 broke years ago, 360 went out a few months ago, and my PSP's charge lasts maybe an hour anymore these days.

I actually do drag out my Dreamcast and GameCube on occasion, but most of my old games are on Virtual Console now.

I played some Dragon Quest VIII on my PS2 a few years ago, but other than that, not really. If I want to play old games, I pretty much always just boot up an emulator.

I have them and most work but they just take up too much space. Only thing I have out is the Dreamcast. A few have issues though.

PSP Got killed at Universal Studios Hollywood during the Water World Show.

DSL works technically but no.charger cable.

360 is meh so someone else uses it as a dvd player.

Ps3 I use it for a few older games I haven't played yet but mostly all my time now goes to Vita and Yon-chan.

Hah, that time I was in Mexico last November I actually thought of you a few times. Mainly when seeing these random shops here and there that dealt with old era games and systems. Gensesis, nes and snes. I kinda regret not buying some replacement parts and cables cor my nes

My NES is dead, and my Genesis was sold at auction after my sister died because her boyfriend wouldn't go pick the stuff up from their storage unit. I tried to boot up my N64 after moving last July, but it's currently toasted too. I think a new AV cable might fix it though, so I plan to go down to a local store focused on retro gaming over here in San Diego to see if I might get it working again some day. Aside from that, my Gamecube disappeared at some point, and my Wii's cords were destroyed and has visual artifacting.

Most of the rest of my old stuff is just in the closet unused. My PS2 is sitting out in the bedroom, but my girlfriend hasn't shown much interest in using it and I'm playing all my older Playstation games on my Vita now anyway. I emulate most of the rest of my old games if I do end up playing them again.

I still used my PS1 in 2011 until it's motor spindle stopped working. I was thinking to fix but nahhh... let's just go to emulator lol.

PS2 is still working but it suffers from the infamous lens problem again and the controllers are also broken. I wanted to buy new DS2s but all I could find were the bootleg DS2s and I didn't want that.

PSP works fine except for the analog. Still use it sometimes to play im@s Shiny Festa.

SNES and NES are basically 90% dead.

Way more often then I do new games it seems. The Dreamcast and N64 get used most often. Both are still hooked up to the TV and ready to go anytime. If one of my former roommates hadn't of stolen my copies of Mario Party 1-3, the N64 would arguably be my most played system still. The SNES still gets some use, but I do use an emulator often. PS1 and PS2 titles get played all the time on my PS3. My PS2 though is currently being used by my sister. It just became redundant. My Xbox and Gamecube don't get brought out to often. I tend to use my Wii and 360. Honestly I can't remember the last time I busted out the Gamecube. At least the Xbox gets used from time to time thanks to the 360's spotty backwards compatibility.

I no longer have a NES. I still play some NES games through emulation, but I need to get a new system before I can play my games currently.

Break only rules created by men, uphold only what is true and everlasting

I have a ton of old systems, but of the old ones I mostly use the PS2, DS Lite when I want to play GBA games, and Wii when I want to play Gamecube games.

If I need to play something pre-fifth gen, I have a Retron 5.

God I love how this thread and every post in it is just reminding me of the Neptune franchise. Because it's literally what the series is about. Old school consoles/games and such....as much as I hate neptunIA, maybe I'll start V-II USA ver.

Not as hardcore as Hobbes, but yes... in varying degrees

PS3 - technically as a Blu-ray player (if this counts as "old" now)
360 - sorta. Just grabbing some of the free XBL Gold titles
Gamecube - for Melee and older Mario Party games
Wii - for FE:Radiant Dawn + Xenoblade Chronicles. Have also been meaning to get Homebrew on it
GB Micro - FE7, ToP, FE8 always there... great for travelling, and when I couldn't be bothered with the DS

Aside from those "main" ones:

PS2 - tucked away somewhere...
DS Lite - Still out, but rarely used since the GBA functionality is served by the Micro. Been meaning to finish up Rune Factory and TWEWY again though
PSP - haven't finished my last run of Valkyrie Profile. I think I was supposed to get a Pandora battery for my wife to get hacking on the unit, but haven't had the heart (or time)

EDIT:

Forgot to add, that my N64, SNES and NES are still working (NES is a bit finicky and need to line up the cartridge just right though) but mostly use emulators for convenience now.

Also been looking to get a Dreamcast since emulators are a bit of a pain. Main reason for this is an itch to play some Project Justice :P

I have all my old consoles in a closet in my home office. Really the Saturn and Dreamcast are the only ones I am tempted to fire up again, and the GBA SP, that was the perfect little system.

PS3 is the oldest I still have, and when I find time to game I do use it in-between the Wii U and PS4.
I hate how long the PS Store takes to load though.
