Short answer: yes.

Long answer: not always, and not for everyone, but it would make it a lot easier for things to slip through the cracks, as it were.

Break only rules created by men, uphold only what is true and everlasting

Not specifically those laws (though I think the TPP has a goal of removing some tariffs). Really, those would be a lot less of an issue and personally I would be glad if that were the case. I don't even agree with half of Bernie Sanders' arguments in that webpage but the TPP is a serious problem. As much as it's touted as a "free trade" agreement, it really isn't and the amount of problems it could cause are astronomical.

If I had to say what the biggest issue of the TPP was, is that it's essentially creating links between economies in a way that will give control to a tribunals and organizations that answer to no nation or people. Decisions over how the trade is run between nations won't be in the hands of anyone that a citizen of any nation can keep accountable. Much like the Wold Bank and other organizations like it, once something like this passes, it's difficult to regulate it, or even know who is regulating it.

Much better answer. There's a reason I went into criminal justice, mostly due to flunking economics and math in general. XD

Thanks you two for the answers.

Also........This is literally how goddamn armored core corporation wars started.

Only ours will be more Tiger and Bunny-ish with all our mechs covered in sponsored logos and corporate brands with a 1950s soundtrack.

Hey, I'm from Florida, the South

Seventh state to secede, from what I read yesterday too

If I'm not allowed to mock or deliver pain upon a demographic I am intimately aware of and technically part of, then what's the point.

I'm not just some dude shrieking with no clue, I've lived here, grown up here, and been through pretty much every State in the Confederacy to some degree or another.

So yes, with all confidence, I don't retract my statement.

And no, the Supreme Court upholding a decision which supports life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all is not a bad thing. The Confederacy lost, States Rights are bullshit, it's 2015, get the fuck over it.

Edit: Posted this in a more emotional state but I can concede how Lowe feels. I'm not taking back what I said, since my original "Oh right you're from the South" was meant to be more harsh comedy than anything else, but I will apologize for the manner in which I made this post. I wont pretend I didn't do it, but I will say I apologize for how I said it.

Barring any other Aussies living in Melbourne and lower (was it EvangelionZeta?) I'm technically as southern as you can get in the world...

Jokes aside, agreed with the Bossman. I respect the right everyone has here to hold their own opinions, beliefs and lifestyle choices. Without feeling like they'll feel persecuted or ostracised for them.

I'm religious as well, but I have friends who aren't. I can appreciate that this kind of decision will benefit them, despite any differences I may have with their choices. I don't think I can pass judgment on anyone but myself, and I certainly try not to.

iirc the main problem with the TPP is the ISDS chapter. Which has been abused, and still will be abused by corporations. Short version is...if a country has laws that a company feel is in their way of profit, they can sue the country in a "special court" and the country will either have to change their law, or be fined. Ex. Australia got sued by cigeratte company for trying to force them to put health warning lables on cigerattes. Or Russia being fined 50 billion last year XD.
then there is the issue that will impact Japan...namely the doujin, and fan created content area. With TPP, a rogue lawyer or company can sue on behalf of content owners and shut down the doujin community.

I'm all for open trades and treaties...but the TPP is not meant to open trade, it's meant to exploit and take advantage of other countries at the expense of the corporations.

As for the gay marriage...I personally don't care what people's orientation are and all it does is give me more paperwork to deal with in my job in the admin dept XD

State's rights are not bullshit, and it is exactly that malinformed notion that has lead us to the shitty situation this country is in right now, with an out of control federal leviathan that feels it is unconstrained by the attitudes of the states, the will of populace, and now even refusing to abide by its very own laws, even ones just very recently enacted. The path the nation is on can only lead to further degradation and collapse if it is not changed, which is why I have been working at the local and state levels to push for an Article 5 Convention of the States to reign in the federal government and begin the process of restoring true federalism. Honestly, how much longer until there isn't enough money in the known universe to cover what this government owes? When they have to hope to find new, intelligent life out there somewhere in the universe just so they can be hit up for money. Without those state and constitutional controls and firewalls in place to keep abuses in check, the absolute power that is being consolidated in this single non-representative place has corrupted and rotted the power structures in DC to their cores. So yes, the Democrats did lose the Civil War, but Lincoln had the wisdom to try to proceed "with malice towards none." Of course he was murdered soon after and the Republicans dubbed radical reconstructionists took over, who thought it was their mandate to punish the southerners and Democrats who had waged open revolt against the union of states. This was largely wrong, and sowed only ill will. The radicals only laid the groundwork for further discontent.

That is what I am saying. If we can go forward from here with no malice against each other, then the Nation will heal. If gay's just get married and are content with living out their lives then all will be well between people. If no radical activists feel the need to attack other people or institutions because they have a different opinion from here on out then all will be fine. But if they do not, if people make the decision to abandon equality and try to prove supremacy over other people who can also claim legitimate rights, then we are only headed for dark times.

I thought last week was a fantastic one for the US. I will read things more seriously later.

Also I have always lived in the south and I am the most liberal person that I know of. My parents are so ashamed.

What grinds my gears about the whole situation is the calculated coaching of terms to try and portray Christianity as an abused minority now. From personal experience alone that's incredibly disingenuous and galling.

Given the hate and venom that is so often spewed by people claiming to be Christians - and often at other believers who call them out on their hypocracy - I actually tend to look at actual believers as something of an embattled minority, since we're always being blamed for what those assholes usurping our name do. I'm not even going to get far into how other fringe groups will want equal marriage benefits extended to them too now, using the exact same argument that it's wrong to deny their love

What kind of fringe groups could exist that are actually having their rights trampled upon? Incest? Pedophilia? Bestiality?

Polygamists, which you forget to mention, are already filing lawsuits. Have been for a few years now, and some of them are winning their cases. All they are doing is parroting the same sentiments in their cases that homosexual plaintiffs already made. And really, what else do they need to do? They believe that this has left the barn door wide open for them.

Incest is certainly another possibility, once again, parroting the same arguments. "Who are you to say what two consenting adults do behind closed doors? Our love is just as legitimate as anybody else's, and we deserve equal rights."

Then... we go off the fucking deep end... Pedophilia I personally don't believe will ever be allowed since kiddy-fiddlers are near-universally reviled like few other criminals are... although truth be told I have seen a disturbing increase in academics and sexual scholars trying to legitimize pedophilia as normal behavior, and that is how this starts. I won't go trudging around for their stupidly vile dribbling at this point in time, as it was well over year or so ago that I was shown it while I was working with a charitable organization that seeks to help childhood victims of sexual abuse, but it really disgusted me when I started to read it. But to address the point, children have diminished capacity to make decisions on their own, especially from a legal point of view. That alone would be really hard to over-come, and then heap on that, unlike the above, it is a very, very serious crime currently to molest children, and a heinous cultural taboo like few others. So the person suing to make pedophilia legitimate would also have to manage to not be murdered by one of the numerous motorcycle gangs who take particular umbrage when it comes to child predators.

Bestiality is somewhere else entirely, since animals do not have even human rights, and have only very basic protections afforded to them under most state laws. And generally it's not even laws to protect the animal, per se, but rather prosecute people who treat them contemptibly. About half of the states allow animals to inherit property willed to them, though. Animal rights wackadoos are assailing on this front frequently to increase rights afforded to animals, though, and they are given more standing in court then they deserve, some going so far as saying some animals should have full-fledged human rights. Fucking animals rights whackos... Again, being an animal fucker is also a crime, so sheep, goat, and ponyfuckers would have to fight to get it decriminalized first and then campaign to see it legitimized, which... talk about an uphill battle. I don't see that happening.

Polygamy: IDGAF. It's not my place to say what three people want to do with their lives. More importantly there's more in the bible to explicitly allow that type of marriage than there is dismissing homosexuality I believe, so where am I to judge? It's not my life.

Incest: On the grounds that it's easily psychologically damaging, often due to manipulation, and the fact that any offspring could have very serious and major health issues is where I believe it could easily be dismissed. More importantly incest was very much a thing did for a long time till we got wise to what's wrong with it, so I don't see a backwards slope on that.

Pedophilia: Look, I've worked with sex offenders before. Honestly, not bad people. Granted I was working largely with people with mental disabilities but there's two types: those with a problem, and those who want to make problems. The large majority of molesters aren't pedophiles in the medical sense, but people who want to use and abuse power over people. There's a sad, frightening portion of people who are medical pedophiles but know better and don't act on it. But for them it's a sad thing because we react so violently to pedophilia in this country that they can't get help they need. We need to understand and separate them, a molester doesn't have to be a pedophile to molest, and many pedophiles don't and will never molest, despite what their body is telling them is attractive.

And, if we're going to get biblical here, I think there's a fair amount of women in the bible who were quite young when they were married off. Mary was known as "the virgin" and I don't know what age range that was but I doubt she was in her thirties.

Bestiality: An animal cannot give knowledgeable consent any more than a child can. Less so, in fact, since animals don't understand human speech. Without knowledgeable consent, a contract can't be formed and a marriage can't be enacted.

But for real dude, you're equating homosexuals with thing you find detestable apparently: polygamists (IDGAF), pedophiles, incest, and bestiality. Not reading the good vibrations here.
