BoF suffers are far worse fate. The next entry will be a mobile game.

Square Enix just announced a new Nier game which is being developed by Platinum. That's caught my attention.

We'll have to wait on the BoF one, since 6 is going to be a free to play online mobile game, but I could see some shady ass companies doing this shit. Maybe not Dead Space since Visceral is making Star Wars.

Nintendo was really underwhelming and I think it shows how much they've abandoned the Wii U.

S-E stuff now, lots of Just Cause 3 which looks like it'll be fun. Then some Nier 2 announcement, developed by platinum, work just started so don't expect the game until like summer 2017.

A whole fuck ton of Tomb Raider next, because Uncharted Lite. They did mention that they are "Putting the Tombs back into Tomb Raider.", which is a hilarious statement, but I still haven't seen anything that proves it. Everything they've shown of the game is wilderness/survival stuff again. A quick look at a Tomb Raider Go game, which isn't that surprising, Hitman Go was well liked.

Nothing new about FFVII other than the PC version got delayed. Kingdom Hearts for Phones.

Ugh, not looking forward to the new Animal Crossing games... the previous 3DS was horrible, and I love the series, and a pos WiiU with Amiibo garbage. Lame. =/

Not as bad as the 1,000 shooters and ton of "action-adventure" games that mix shooting, stealth segments, and scripted events with QTEs that filled the other conferences.

S-E seemed like they did alright for themselves. At least they showed gameplay and didn't announce a MOBA or something stupid.

Square Enix Recap:

Just Cause 3
New Nier
Rise of the Tomb Raider - Same trailer as earlier
Lara Croft Go
Montage of Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward, Dragon Quest Heroes
Final Fantasy 7 Remake - Same trailer as earlier
The PC Port of FF7 for PS4 is delayed from spring to winter, and it will be ported to iOS
Kingdom Hearts Unchained
Kingdom Hearts 3
World of Final Fantasy - Same trailer as earlier
Hitman
Montage that had Triad Wars, Final Fantasy XV
Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Final Fantasy Portable App
Tokyo RPG Factory

I had mixed feelings about this. On one hand, i'm actually excited about a few of these games, mostly the ones made by the subsidiaries and not by SE's main studio. Deus Ex's gameplay looked great and it could be everything I wanted in a HR sequel. The new abilities seem like the logical upgrade to the stuff we saw in Human Revolution. Though I wonder if some of the stuff is too overpowered.

The worst part of this presentation was the . . . presentation of the presentation. The people went on talking for way too long and dragged things out. There's an old saying: show, don't tell. The talking should be spent telling us the inspiration and the why of the mechanics, but NOT wasting time trying to tell us the mechanics themselves. The other conferences also had problems with people talking with the demeanor of an overscripted politician, but they were really long winded here. And then clapping for themselves at the end was awkward. But even worse was showing mobile games and mobile apps at E3. I understand Hitman Go is actually pretty good, but this is not the time to be talking about Lara Croft Go, KH Mobile, or a FF App. Another bad thing is that some of the trailers were the exact same as the ones shown yesterday. All in all, there was a lot of wasted time.

That said, I think the game designer of Revengeance doing the new Nier is pretty cool and even though we saw no gameplay, his influence should mean something. Star Ocean 5 is being done by SE and tri-Ace who both have good and bad quirks. Will it be a combo of the good or combo of the bad? We'll see. Again, we saw very little gameplay to judge by. I'm glad Triad Wars is still a thing. Just Cause 3 has a pretty bland art style and even though I hated the narration, the gameplay does admittedly look cool. Hitman kind of showed some gameplay, but not enough to really get a feel for it.

The one game that did get a true, full gameplay trailer was KH3, but I imagine that people would have mauled the SE execs if they didn't. The new art style looks . . . different from what I expect from KH. The gameplay looks the same as always. Overall, it still looks like it's in the Alpha phase. Could be decent.

And in a way, I'm relieved. At this point, it's probably best to just let the franchise lie.

Right now, my list is basically:

- Transformers: Devastation
- Shenmue 3 (someday)
- StarFox Zero
- Xenoblade X
- Final Fantasy 7 HD Turbo Championship Edition

There are a few others that look fun, but nothing I can honestly say I feel any real hype for, aside from Uncharted 4. I do plan to pick up the U4 PS4 bundle whenever it decides to drop, though.

I'd accept even a middling Chrono game at this point, at least it would have a chance to be good. Get the team who did the new content for the DS release to make it, they seem to have done well from what I've heard.

As for forgotten Square franchises, I really wish they'd bring back Secret of Mana. They drove that series into the ground so hard that I doubt it'll ever recover, but up through Legend of Mana they were all really solid. Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3 and Legend of Mana were all really fun to play in co-op, but once they tried to force it into the 3D realm and then banished it to die on GBA they just drove a dagger through the heart of the series. Playing with others was the best part of the early games, and Square just kind of forgot that.

I'll put together a list when I get home, but I have a feeling it'll probably be something like MGSV, Transformers, Halo, SO5, and Deus Ex? I kind of feel weird about putting MGSV on there because I don't feel like it's really at the show and it's coming out in a few months anyway and I definitely don't want to get at all excited for any cinematic trailers, which means no Dark Souls 3, even if that's something I'm interested in.

I DUNNO, GAMES. Just remember that everything you see needs a giant disclaimer of "Pre-release footage. Final product may appear different." for when it actually comes out looking way less impressive.

To chime in Nintendo was quite underwhelming. I thought the reason why they didn't want to show any Zelda U was because they wanted to focus on 2015 titles so why did they show off several 2016 game then? I really wish they would also stop wasting 10 minutes each on Wooly World and Mario Maker just like they did last E3.

Star Fox looked good and I hate all Star Fox games post 64. I was probably more excited for it when I was under the assumption it was a prequel with James McCloud at the helm but they said it was just a re-imagining of the series. I mean shit man you called it Star Fox Zero and had Pigma as an ally so what am I supposed to believe?

Mario and Luigi Paper was the other big announcement they made for me. It's a cross between Super Star Saga and Paper Mario. This can only turn out well I hope.

Triforce Heroes was also cool looking because of the costumes. Other than that it didn't grab me yet.

Everything else was shit we've already seen or shit that made me question their sanity.

First of all let the Prime series die. And secondly this is not what anyone had in mind or wanted from a new Metroid game. The only way I would've allowed this is if they made Hunters 2.

That Animal Crossing board game takes the fucking cake though. And instead of Tennis which has always been kind of meh why not make a new Mario Strikers?

I wouldn't say it was awful because it seemed like there wasn't much new from anyone this E3. Just kind of showing off stuff that we already knew instead of any huge reveals. I can forgive Nintendo a bit for this because they have Directs every month or so making E3 not a big deal for them anymore.

So despite my worries about Fallout 4 I'd probably give the win to Bethesda or Square-Enix, and I haven't even seen their conference yet.

Too much for me. I'm not sure I want to play that.

I wonder where Devil's Third was. I would have thought that would have taken Bayonetta's place this year in the Direct.

GameXplain has a lot of videos of the Nintendo games on the floor for those interested. A warning in advance that the guy they recorded playing does suck. Looking at the Star Fox gameplay, it honestly does look amazing and looks like the game we have wanted. The fact that the aiming reticle needs to be controlled seperately looks like it's going to take some getting used to. Mario and Luigi Paper Jam has some interesting gameplay elements. All I need to hear is that it has the badge customization of a Paper Mario game and i'll be happy.

Triforce Heroes I think was underwhelming to people because people wanted more new Wii U games announced and as a result, people dismissed it. But looking at the gameplay, it looks really more interesting. I like that there are online, local, and CPU options. But right now, it's the music that's really capturing my attention.

It's not that Nintendo doesn't have good Wii U titles coming up. It's that this is E3 and we were expecting more than just new videos about games already announced. E3 2015 as a whole for every company has been E3: The Update on Games You Already Knew About.

Which is really unfortunate considering how it was just a few years ago. A lot of it is the plague of sequels, but most companies just announce their games somewhere else now. It's one thing when it's CoD or AssCreed where you're getting one every year, you know it's coming, but I feel like the E3 Reveal is a lost artform.

That's probably why FFVII popped the crowd so hard, at least they surprised people with SOMETHING they wanted.

Nintendo once again puzzling me with their name changes for Fire Emblem.

Marx -> Xander
Leon -> Leo
Rinka -> Rinkah
Suzukaze -> Kaze

The first two were already fine in English, and the second two are just adding an h and removing the first half.

Yeah, not sold on the SMTxFE game. Still need to check up on other titles, but Fates was always gonna be the big one for me.

Mario Maker looked cool during NWC, but not a priority.

Agreed about that Animal Crossing game. Yes, the Amiibo seem a good fit for the franchise, but it's all very Skylanders at this point. Too focused on sales, methinks

I still plan on picking up SMT x FE, The name changes to Fates really doesn't bother me.

As for Metroid Prime Federation Forces, this is the first game with the Prime Title in a good few years, so I don't see any issue with it. I'll certainly pick it up since it looked fun to me.

Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam will be my first Mario and Luigi SSG game because well, I loved the Paper Mario games (1, Thousand Year Door, Super Paper Mario), and I've only heard good things about the Mario and Luigi games so it should be good.

Xenoblade X and Star Fox Zero are must haves for me.

The issue with Prime being in the name is that the series ended. The phazon is gone and Dark Samus is defeated. What could this game possibly have to do with the phazon crisis?
