This seems like it will be so '80s/'90s. You know, like those over-sexed, gory OVAs you'd find at Blockbuster back then: MD Geist, Tokyo Megalopolis, etc. Which is perfect, because Trigger is probably the only studio I'd trust to pull off something like that these days.

That's the general idea. The novels are a rather loving tribute to all the stereotypes the US held about Japan from that era. I can't wait. ^_^

Not familiar with the serie, but alot of people that are complaining saying that the anime art style doesn't fit it.

Except that the episodes will be only 15 minutes each...including open/ed.

I'd have preferred 13 full-length episodes. =/

Given what we know about the plot, I'm not that surprised.

Looks, yes. However, I thought it was hilarious, myself.

Then again, I loved Inferno Cop and Panty & Stocking, and that's basically what I figured this would be like. Just with more ninjas, evil karate, and "numchucks".

Not gonna make it on my list of best-ever shows, but for a 12-minute blast of animated insanity I'd take it over pretty much any of the comparable [as] shows.

Overall, I dislike the art style, but occasionally it does lend itself to some pretty good humor. Especially that random cop scene, and the "final attack" in the episode's closing fight. XD

And yeah, the show is pretty funny. Everything explodes, including flashbacks, and it really does feel written by some 1990's weaboo who based his assumptions on Japanese culture off of the movie Ninja Scroll. So, it's kind of good? I just wish it had looked like an '80s/'90s anime film, rather than just being written like one.

It probably helped me that I binged on the novels when they first came out, so I knew more or less what to expect.

It would've been nice for to have gotten an 80s-era budget to go with the trappings, but the current style added some to the humor, so I can live with it. So long as it keeps being entertaining, it's not a deal breaker for me.

Threw away the 80's pastiche for xd top kek inferno cop humor from what little I gleamed.

Couldn't get past five minutes in.

You're just suffering from Ninja Reality Shock Feedback, Grahf.

Apparently the first episode got over a million views on NicoNico. Not quite as huge as Saint Seiya's debut, but still pretty good.

The bigger question will be, how far will episode 2 drop?

Just saw episode one and...what the fuck. I can see there are hints of what could have been an amazing anime, but this is ridiculous. Inferno Cop worked because it was a ridiculous premise with a ridiculous animation style and it was very brief and to the point. This...no. The Inferno Cop and Kill La Kill styles clash horribly with each other. Just when one attack seems really cool...it reverts to the Inferno Cop art style and ruins it. I had high hopes, and I also even liked Inou Battle, but this just seems terrible. I'll probably not even bother with episode 2, despite having it on my HD.

That attack was the highlight of the episode for me, it's the only thing that made me laugh out loud. It's still pretty bizarre though, and only half of what I expected. I still wish they'd stuck to the premise they'd originally tried to sell to people, I don't think this will continue to hold my interest as much as a full-on '80s/'90s parody would have.
