In other news, "Dude, where's my franchise?"

[PS3] Dragon Quest Heroes (Square Enix, 02/26/15) – 325,446 (New)
[PS4] Dragon Quest Heroes (Square Enix, 02/26/15) – 269,303 (New)

Because Heroes is now pretty much confirmed to become a new franchise with those FIRST WEEK sales. And there's still the digital sales that haven't been counted as well.
Oh Look, guess what just got confirmed.

Special message from the director

Furthermore, Square Enix is going all out. It's for PS3, PS4, and Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Vita as well.

Well keep in mind that's the Korean version. Though if it's all still in Japanese I might pick it up for that price.

I'm fairly certain that if Hobbes wanted GTAV, he would've bought it long ago.

I mean, how old is that game now? I have it, but I forget.

lol, he's been after me to get it too! But I wanted the ps4 version...is it cross play compatible?

Cyborg: I do want it...and not just because the forum description demands it! I just keep prioritizing other stuff over it, haha. Shadowrun for the Genesis, Etrian Odyssey Millenium Girl, etc.

No crossplay. The massive updates to the game for PS4/PC make it impossible for last gen to handle it.

And other games that bought yet have never actually played yet. >.>

Tell him if he's up for Heists or just randon online shenanigans. I can take him and you through the wringers. >.>

@Cyborg

It it's been about a year and half. And the game is still fun, gets massive amounts of updates and DLC (For FREE, all of it), and is still insanely active.

Hobbes is playing Etrian Odyssey. That's a good enough excuse to put off any other game.

I can't wait for Untold 2 in August.

No crossplay stinks. I'm sorta pondering picking it up used on PS3 then, and then upgrading to the PS4 version next time there's a decent sale. And for the record: Cal/Chronik does want to play. He's been on me to pick the game up too, haha.

'Zero speaks the truth, BTW. Yay Etrian Odyssey!

Er, back on topic, Square-Enix's online shop put up a page with some boxart for DQ Heroes:

https://store.na.square-enix.com/product/282618/dragon-quest-heroes-ps4

Interestingly, there's that little box on the cover art that says "Playstation exclusive content: Slime Weapons set". Not quite sure why it's got a disclaimer like that since it's PS4 only, though I guess it's to reflect that there's a "Day One" edition? I dunno.

Go get it Hobbes. Amuro is also now picking it up for ps3 as well.

And also confirmed SquEnix is not bringing over the last gen version oh Heroes.

Thinking of importing the Korean version since it's only like $20 right now.

Uh, does anyone know if it's actually in Korean entirely or if it just has a Korean text option? I saw a vid with the Korean text for everything, but not sure if you can choose to put it in Moonrunes or if it's forced korean.

Nope. This is full fledged Korean. In the last few years, SquEnix, Bamco, and many other JP devs have started making atcual full language versions for the other asian regions. China, korea, etc. My question is whther it's permanantly stuck in Korean, or if it'll have the option to change back into the original moonrunes.

I'm loving this game s far. It's amazing how well the Dragon Quest experience was translated in this game. The music remixes are awesome, the art is great, and they even incorporated the demanding economies those game have (to an extent, anyway). I also like the magic system.

So far, my only complaints are the strange loading screens and how some important dialogue causes battles to freeze while you hear what the characters have to say.

This is defenitely shaping up to be my one of my favorite, if not, my favorite Musou game. The increased variety in inputs, the amount of diversity between characters in their attack styles and inputs, the magic system, the party system, the RPG elements such as the skill system, so on and so forth all really make the game feel alive and doesn't allow it to get bogged down like some Musou games. Aside from the aforementioned loading issues, the only other problem I've encountered so far is that the maps are on the small and repetitive side.

The game has both the Japanese voices and a dub. I like the dub so far, save for Terry who sounds too much like a teenager and Healix's squeakiness.

I just finished the main campaign. The story was typical Omega Force fluff, but it was pretty much a vehicle to be able to have many Dragon Quest characters meet and play them in an action game. Gameplay wise, aside from the small-ish maps, it's my favorite Musou game. I'm probably going to make an attempt to Plat this since the requirements seem more reasonable than most Musou games.

I was disappointed that there was only one DQ6 representative and not a single DQ7 representative (specially since DQ4 had 4 characters), but at least DQH2 has been confirmed to have Carver from 6 and Maribel from 7.

I both love and am horrified at how they handled Bianca and Nera. Basically . . .
Spoiler: click to toggle

The one thing this game felt like it was missing as a Dragon Quest experience was DQ's famous class/job system which it often does better than Final Fantasy in my opinion. Because of this, the game has no way of really representing DQ3 or DQ9 which both relied on created characters, and represent DQ6 and 7's gameplay in a limited capacity.

Game looks really nice.

Makes me wish I had more knowledge of DQ in general to buy in to Heroes and really appreciate what it has to offer.
