"Soiya! Kachidoki Arms: Iza Shutsujin! Ei, Ei, Oh!"

Oh, forgot to mentioned I picked this up Wednesday after work as it was just an awful day of me feeling bad physically, and the insanity of last minute Thanksgiving Day shoppers. Picked me right up, until I remembered Beldum was a thing and I spent a good hour or so soft reseting for Adamant Nature on that sucker. Still, got through to Watson Gym and my team is Marshtomp, Shroomish, Beldum, Makuhita, Voltorb, and a Mightyena. |

Does anyone actually LIKE Contests? I like the idea of them, but I'm still not really sure what the hell I'm doing, and while Display Pikachu is kinda amusing, I'm having difficulty getting motivated to mess with them more. |

I bought the game and played it during work today (easy to do, since the building is half-empty on Thanksgiving and the day after). I like a lot of the "new" stuff such as finding Pokemon that have rare abilities. Keep in mind that I haven't played a Pokemon game since Diamond and Pearl. I also spy this newfangled Fairy type attached to Ralts. This pleases me greatly. I like that experience comes pretty easily in this game and the way the exp. share works in this game is pretty convenient. However, at the same time it all feels the battles are a little too easy. It would have been nice if they would have raised the difficulty of enemy trainers to counter the easy experience. Though, I knew I was going to have a rough time with Roxanne since I chose Torchic at the beginning. Even though the invisible Poke-rules dictate a fire starter must be somewhat overleveled in order to deal with the first gym, I decided to make things tougher on myself and figure out another way (even though Double Kick would have made everything much easier). I just don't like being too overleveled after a gym boss and then find the trainer fights afterwards being too much of a cakewalk. Also, TMs can now be used over and over again? That's going to take a bit to wrap my mind around. |

Yes, the reuseable TMs is the best change they made in Gen 5, it is a thing of beauty. |

The trainers are under leveled for the first half of the game, but by the end they are actually higher leveled. The 5th gym seems to be the lynchpin for things getting more challenging. And I'll third the reusable TMs being awesome. Now, if we could just make HMs less of a bitch. BTW, which version did y'all get? I got Ruby, mostly because I wanted a Zangoose & a Mawile. |

I got Alpha Sapphire because Sapphire was the (first) version I got all those years ago. I also liked Sapphire better than Ruby. It's also my birthstone. EDIT: Thanks to a friend, I got my Garchompite brought over from X into AS. Saves me a lot of trouble. |

I picked up Ruby myself. Though, I think it was Emerald that I mostly played years ago. Two questions: 1) What other games can I trade with apart from AS? And do I have to wait until I beat the Elite 4 to trade with them? 2) Anybody have an extra Reaper Cloth on hand? Choosing between the Dusclops/noir and Shedninja family has always been a tough choice for me. Edited by RPGZero, Nov 30 2014, 08:44 AM.

ORAS can trade with X and Y, and you don't need to wait until post-E4. |

And if you have PokeBank you can send stuff through the PokeTransporter from the Black & White games. Plus, all he Legendaries from all the games are supposed to be available between XY and ORAS. |

All this water, all these HMs...I'm reminded why I didn't like Hoenn that much. I've been keeping Latias in my party as a courtesy since it wanted to join, and I'm glad I have; Mega Latias made catching Kyogre easier. I'm tempted to EV train her and use her in battle, but I gotta stick with my "No Legendaries" rule. Still, Soaring is an awesome feature. Oh, and protip: Sharpedo makes a good HM slave. It also happens to get its own surfing model, and its surfing speed is twice as fast. |

I've practically marathon played throughout this weekend. I like that surfing speed in general feels faster and the art makes the diving sections feel as special and unique as they should. But the large amount of HMs is annoying. They really could have alleviated the problem if they would just let you overwrite the moves on the spot. The buildup to the Groudon fight was fantastic. I'd like to see how the buildup to Kygore fared in comparison. |

The HMs were the biggest reason I ended up choosing Mudkip. Giving him 3 Water moves seems like a colossal waste, but at least Surf, Dive, and Waterfall don't really suck. And of course, I have my awesome Tropius Bananarama to handle the rest. XD Still, I can't fathom why they don't make HMs overwritable like TMs. I understand not letting you trade them with HMs, but you shouldn't have to sacrifice 1/3 of your available move pool just to complete the game. They should honestly just make HMs menu-only commands with no in-battle use. I'd gladly give up using Surf in battles if it meant getting rid of having to have an HM slave. |

Surf and Waterfall are actually good moves, so I think it'd be best to keep them as TMs at the least. Otherwise yeah, HMs should just be menu commands like Soaring. Thanks to Soaring, I don't even need anyone with Fly. Sharpedo covers the rest, although I do need Linoone for Cut and Rock Smash. I just beat Wallace, so next is the Pokemon League. I've been taking my time getting through AS since there's not much of a post-game. |

I will say, compared to XY, I absolutely love how my rival turned out. Serena/Calem was so bland and uninteresting, and you only fight Shauna twice in an initial play through. But May has been so much more fun. She actually feels like a friend rather than just an expository mouthpiece and her animations are always so adorable. And seeing Wally go from a sickly little kid to a total badass was just awesome. Granted, its not as satisfying beating them as it was pounding Gary into the dirt, but I've enjoyed the trip here far more. And Team Magma & Aqua are SO much more fun than Team Flare. Maxie, Tabitha, and Archie are so much more interesting than Lysandre, and Courtney...well, she sorta freaks me out. XD |

I don't remember what they were originally like, but Archie and Team Aqua are surprisingly fun. Since I'm playing AS, I don't see much of Magma, but the way Maxie talks about adults reminds me of Tomino. |

Isn't there that Delta Episode this time around, as well as being able to catch a ton of legendaries that weren't in the original? One of my personal issues with HMs is how it flies in the face of the spirit of Pokemon. We're told that in the games that raising Pokemon is about having personal relationships with them. We're told the reason in-game Gary lost is because his Pokemon were just tools and we won because we treated ours like friends. Yet, all HMs have ever done since the first game due to the nature of the way they work is force us to carry around a worker slave with us who we end up detesting because he's taking up a spot I could give to someone I want to train. Delta Episode isn't enough, especially depending on its length. Catching legendaries is meaningless to me now. Since getting back into Pokemon with Diamond, I've built up a collection of legendaries in each game. Particularly in SoulSilver. Now, I'm tired of doing it. I sit there waiting, tossing Poke Balls until one of them works...for what? A Pokemon that I'll never use? Something to just sit there in a box, maybe getting transferred when the next gen releases? From now on, I'm just catching Pokemon I like, want, or need. Especially when it concerns breeding, because starting with X, I work on breeding after finishing the main game. I want to make sure I have a team ready to go for when the next Pokemon game releases. |

I can where you're coming from. Personally, i'm a collector and I've always loved the idea of completing the Pokedex, so the legandaries have been a welcome concept to me. But I will admit there should be more that you can do with them. I really think the games need to incorporate some kind of homestead/mansion/Mother Base where you can put the other Pokemon you have caught to work or leave them to roam and the public is allowed in to see them. That way, at least you have a kind of "trophy room" (for lack of a better term) to put your completing on display.

Once per day, just go to the demo and pick "Transfer Rewards", then pick one you want to move.Once you pick one, go to the main game and pick Pokemon Link. As to the post game, they seem to be hinting that the Battle Frontier is currently in the works, perhaps as a patch or DLC. |

...that's weird. It should be the third option, after "Let's go on an adventure" and "Check rewards". Well, 4th option if you got the "Let's go somewhere secret" option. EDIT: Tell ya what, if you can't get it to work, I'll just trade you mine. Edited by Lowe Gear, Dec 2 2014, 09:18 AM.

Is it just me, or do the non-Hoenn Pokemon start showing up much more easily after the Groudon (or in AS' case, Kygore) fight? |
