How does that even happen? The game is only a year old. |

I don't know. The 3DS just acts like it isn't there, which means PokeBank won't access my save file. |

I definitely recommend looking up solutions and doing some troubleshooting. The problem most likely isn't too complicated. I don't know how close or far you are from a mom and pop shop that fixes systems and games, but perhaps you can inquire in one. |

Very far. Been searching inline for the last two days, as well as asking all my old buddies from my EB days, and they're all stumped. And worst of all, I can't borrow anyone's game to access my save, because everyone I know has X. |

And I've just had it confirmed for me that all my Pokemon were stored on the actual game instead of on the save file, so even if I got another copy of Y, all my work would be gone. |

I'm sure I can put together a decent team from just ORAS (I know you can get Mawilite fairly early, so I will have Audrey III), but I'll miss my Froakie, Hawlucha, & Aegislash. Might see if someone can trade me one of those via FC or something. |

if you want, I can get you a protean Froakie and a Hawlucha, maybe the third one as well. |

K. BTW, in case you weren't aware, you can beat the Elite 4 multiple times, and each time you do, Professor Birch gives you a new starter. First time gets you a Johto one, followed by a Unova one, and then a Sinnoh one. Several Mega stones are available before beating the game, and there's no forced time of day this time. |

So, there's been some MAJOR plot leaks for this game, specifically a big twist revealed in Delta Episode. MAJOR SPOILERS for the entire Pokemon timeline

First thoughts on playing OR: - DexNav is the BEST. THING. EVAR. Seriously, it makes hunting Pokemon SO much easier. It tells you what Pokemon are nearby, if you've caught all the types available, etc. Plus, once you've encountered a certain type of Pokemon, you can actively search for it, making it more likely that you'll encounter it again. - Pokemon you can sneak up on can have Hidden Abilities or Egg Moves, an can even be up to 10+ levels higher than normal. I actually ran into a level 15 Taillow with Brave Bird...which kicked my ass. ^^; - The game feels even more cinematic than X/Y, like when the camera pans around you whenever you read a town sign. Characters in cinematics seem a lot more expressive, especially May & Wally, who're practically animated in terms of their facial expressions & reactions. - Shiny Beldum rawks. It starts with Iron Head, Zen Headbutt, Iron Defense, and Hold Back (VERY useful for catching these higher level 'mons that DexNav finds. - Having all the X/Y touchscreen stuff collected together in one app was a nice touch. |

Just beat Wattson's gym. My current team is Marshtomp, Metang, Kirlia, Breloom, and Cosplay Pikachu. Also managed to find Mega Stones for Alakazam, Manectric, and Mawile (who will become one of my mains once I find one). |

Finally getting around to this. I transferred over the Gible, Joltik and Golett I bred for a new game. ...Then I remembered that I should probably put them through Super Training in X first. Doing that right now. I'll have to do it for Treecko once the feature becomes available in AS as well. |

You get Super Training, PSS, and Pokemon-Amie from Wally once you help him catch his Ralts, so you can just go ahead & transfer them if you want. |

Mega Sceptile is nice and all, but I really hate GF's typical "joke", if you want to call it that. Sceptile/M-Sceptile is clearly a special attacker, yet it has a far better physical movepool than special. It's special movepool is weak (seriously, fuck Focus Miss). It's like Klinklang. Meant to be a physical attacker, has a great special movepool, awful physical movepool. Still, I like it enough to use it as my Mega. At least until a hypothetical Mega Golurk or Mega Galvantula comes along. |

I would love a Mega Golurk or Galvantula. Sceptile may have a lower Attack stat, but I believe it also gets Sword Dance which evens things out. Got Latios & the Mega Bracelet yesterday before I had to stop playing. Right now, I think the only Pokemon I have that CAN'T Mega Evolve is Breloom, who's plenty awesome without it. Though, I'm having trouble balancing out my team. Might need to box Metagross to add a slot. |

I get what you're saying, but I feel that's a waste of Sceptile's Mega. Compared to its 110 Attack stat, M-Sceptile gets 145 Special. Then there's its ability, Lightningrod, which absorbs any Electric attack and boosts its special. |

True, but that doesn't mean it CANT still use them effectively. Leaf Blade gets STAB and crits a ton, which helps make up for not being SA-based. Toss Giga Drain and Dragon Pulse on there, with whatever you want for a final move, and you'd still be a beast. Too bad he can't learn Draco Meteor. XD |

Dragon Pulse is good enough for it, although my Sceptile can't learn the move until I have access to the Battle Resort (no additional punches for Golurk either). He does have Giga Drain (Treecko learns this at 21, surprisingly). Hidden Power (Fire) would be a good addition, but his is Dragon so I'm using that in place of DP for now. The only other moves I could put on him were Focus Miss and Substitute. It'd be nice if he could learn something like Flash Cannon. |

Bummer. My poor Swampert is more of a HM slave than anything else right now, between Surf, Dive, & Secret Power. Breloom ended up with Cut, Rock Smash, & Strength, though Sky Uppercut still lets him contribute. I really, REALLY wish they wouldn't make HMs so aggravating. Having to use up a third of my total move pool on these things is just...ugh |

I haven't played Pokemon in ages and i'm thinking about picking this up tomorrow. A question: I recall (fondly) that Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald favored tanks above all else. Does that still apply, or have the new mechanics changed all that? |

I wouldn't say above ALL else, though Ive heard that tank/stall teams are a big part of the competitive scene these days. But if you like playing a wall-centric team, there are definitely lots of options. I haven't used him yet, but looking at the numbers I'd say Mega Slowbro and Mega Steelix would be good at that, not to mention the almighty Aegislash. |

The requirements to unlock Garchompite in ORAS is ridiculous. I'd better off bringing it over from X, which is impossible since PokeBank doesn't allow items and I only have one 3DS. I'm not exactly sure if I'd want to use Garchomp's Mega again (I don't dislike it, but that speed loss), but what if I did? |
