So we can't cheer for the guy who played well? We have to do the petty bickering over fan-favorites? |

I thought the bickering was that ZSS was cheap/OP? |

I just felt like Kirby got jipped because of Sudden Death. :U |

No, I think what happened is that while Kirby and ZSS were down to one life left, Kirby was pretty much beating the utter crap out of ZSS and proving he was a better player at the very end. But the timer ran out and we went into sudden death where both players automatically have 300% and ZSS was able to knock out Kirby in one hit. Basically, had the main match gone on any longer, Kirby would have been the obvious winner.

Sudden death always sucked for reasons like that. It just comes down to people pull ass pulls with whoever has the better range. Also, it was a trap. http://gematsu.com/2014/06/aonuma-zelda-wii-u-trailer-one-said-link |

The ZSS guy was playing keepaway the whole tournament. In the final match with 20-30 seconds left he just started jumping around with her Down+B dodge attack to run the timer out. While this is all fair it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. |

I think on top of that, the crowd really appreciated how the Kirby player was managing his best against a character who is obviously both faster and possibly even stronger. He was able to keep up with Samus and outdo her never mind he had such a huge speed disadvantage.

Last 2-3 pages are Smash tourney comments, not going to skim just to confirm something that may or may not be there. |

Saying he was "playing keepaway" implies that Kirby lost those three lives entirely by accident. The ZSS player did well, he just chose to wait it out at the end instead of charging into a disadvantageous situation like an idiot. |

He only started playing keep away at the END when he decided to abuse the timer and sudden death to win it. Basically he was getting owned by a slightly inferior character, getting drawed/possibly beaten, and then slithered his way to victory by abusing sudden death rather than fight normally. |

It was all the previous matches where he was just jumping around at the side of the maps while everyone else duked it out. While generally a smart thing to do to just let everyone else kill each other while you sit back unharmed it's still bad form to me. This is also why normal tourneys don't have Sudden Death rules to discourage turtling. The ZSS would have lost under common tourney rules. Edited by BadBoiu, Jun 10 2014, 06:00 PM.

It may count as "fair" , but turtling while everyone else actually plays and does the work for him just makes him a little bitch for the world to see. |

Overall, I enjoyed today. Nintendo for the most part gave me everything I wanted (well, except Metroid), especially so if we're including the Treehouse demoing and all the trailers they threw up on their YouTube page. They have a lot of games that I actually want and that's what excited me. In the end, you're going to choose whatever system gives you what you life. If you're really into the first and third person shooter scene, you're going to buy a XBone. If you like Nintendo's style of gaming, then you're going to pick up a Wii U. Today was a confirmation of whether or not any of these companies would pull through on their promises since all three of the "next gen" consoles had been lackluster when it came to showing original material. It was either put up or shut up and people will generally have to decide whoever they felt pulled through this week. Thankfully, it seems like all three have something to offer to their respective fanbases and no one failed miserably. Let's face it: there was fear around every corner that either Nintendo or Microsoft would do something really dumb. Ironically, Sony was the one who ended up with the most nuisances during their conference. Edited by RPGZero, Jun 10 2014, 06:09 PM.

I greatly enjoyed the day as well. The only rain on the proverbial parade was that there was no sign of Intelligent Systems, Next Level Games, or Retro. I've heard there's an announced 3DS game that will be shown off in the coming days but ehhhhhhhhh |

Frankly, what I think was worse than anything to do with Samus was how that terrible Mega Man player kept advancing entirely because the audience was sucking his blue robotic dong. |

If I had to guess, Nintendo decided to announce this during the unaired 90 minute Smash roundtable to please those who came all the way to E3 since there was no conference like Sony's and Microsoft's. On another note, Project Giant Robot had robot building/customization. As this game is still in its early stages, I hope the designs become more intricate and detailed. But it's nice to know that you can kind of build Giant Robo if you wanted to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKkoTRF7UJQ |
